  1. I too am recently widowed and we had been avid cruisers. In order to get back slowly to cruising I am taking all my children and grandchildren on Liberty for Thanksgiving. If this goes well I am going to book a solo cruise to see how I do. All of your posts have helped me make this decision. Thank you all for taking time to give encouragement to those of us that are trying to get back to cruising after a loss. It means a lot.

  2. I felt as if I had posted your message. My husband passed away in June 2013 of cancer also. We only had 2 months after the diagnosis and he had never been sick. We too had cruised over thirty times and I am so missing cruising. To get back into it slowly I am taking my children and their families on a Thanksiving cruise on Liberty. If that goes well I am going to try it on my own. Hearing all these positive messages from everyone really makes me feel as if I can do it. For all of you that answered the original post thank you so much!!

  3. Not sure what would happen, but I wouldn't wait too long I would contact RCCL,it's still your responsibility to pay off. Do you have a TA ?

The reservation was made directly with Royal using a CVP. I have paid the one due today and will pay the one due on the 19th. I was wondering whether they have stopped sending out reminders and what would happen if you forgot?

  4. I have always been used to Royal letting me know a few days ahead of the final payment date. They seem to have stopped that as I had one due today and had made a note on the calendar that it was due. I did not hear anything by way of a reminder from Royal.

I have another due on the 19th and have heard nothing on that one either.

What would happen if you were to miss the final payment date? Do they cancel your reservation and refund all you have paid or do they allow you a few days to pay it?

  5. We were in 1552 and if we stood at the rail we could see onto the balconies of all the cabins between the 'humps'. Waved to everyone at sailaway just to let them know I could see them--for future reference! :p

We are booked in 1552 for the January 29 cruise on Solstice. How was the cabin and do you have any pictures of the balcony?

  6. Deck - 6

    Cabin # -6672

    Class – D4

Front Starboard, Front Port, Back Starboard, Back Port, Central Park, or Boardwalk - Ocean balcony starboard side aft

Bed near?(balcony or bath) – Balcony

Quiet Cabin (With comments on problems. Note if connecting. ) – Connecting but very quiet.

Balcony View - Give comments on view, noting if location of any obstructions or privacy was an issue– Wonderful view as it coincided with a gap in the lifeboats. We were alongside the pier on all stops on the Western trip.

Balcony Size? Normal or oversized for class? - Normal

    Was wind a problem? No

Any specific problems with this cabin? None whatsoever except that it seemed to be smaller than Superior on other ships.

Any other comments? If you are not pool visitors there is no better location on the ship. Very close to elevators but a short walk from the Boardwalk, 2 decks up to Central Park and one deck down to the promenade and MDR.

  7. I have to say, when I first sat down this really surprised me, and in fact, I was initially annoyed. A family from Brazil arrived with two little girls, age 3 and 6. We were seated next to the father. Their mother sat next to them and they were accompanied by their grandmother and uncle. We brought our 23 year old son. When we first reserved, I saw one notification, "Must be over 21". Then I saw another, "must be 16" so i wondered how they were seated. Having said that, they were extremely well behaved and when the three year old got bored, she fell asleep. The six year old was not only well behaved, spoke perfect English when spoken to. Her father was an very nice, interesting man. Grandmother and uncle spoke no English and the mother's English was limited.

We have seen references to the Chef's table. Is this just on the two new ships? If someone can give us some information about this and where to find it on the RCCL web page we would be grateful

  8. We completed a cruise on January 17th and the credits have not yet been posted. We were assured by a C & A reresentative that they would be added to cruise credits prior to conversion. However several posters have compalined that credits (or points) for cruises completed prior to Jan 21 have been posted under the new system. We will have to wait until they are posted and either be grateful or create a stink!!!!
