  1. Thank you all for your awesome advice.  I am still pending.  I did contact my phone provider and added on a plan so that I can make an international call more economically.   NZ ETA did charge both me and my husband (his issued and mine still pending).  I did google search and saw that some folks say its ok to travel with it just "pending". I am not sure that I would be comfortable doing that.  I will probably try calling next week.  And then secondly I may try to submit it again but do it Online instead of using the App.

I appreciate all your help.  Cheers.

  2. My husband and I (from the USA) applied for our NZ ETA several days ago.  His was immediately issued but mine still remains in a pending status.  There is no way to contact anyone at the New Zealand Immigration office.  No email to contact.  I have tried calling but it always says there is an hour wait and it is costing me a fortune in phone bills.   Does anyone have any advice?  Thank you in advance.

  4. The travel authori

Anyone know what the travel authorization says? What are they looking for?

    Laura

The travel authorization will say that you are approved with your name, date of cruise, passport etc.

  5. when we did our travel authorizations for our December Bermuda cruise from NYC, the ship and date did not show up until it was a week or so out.  Also, it was advised that we should not pay for the travel authorization until we had the negative test.  No sense in doing so any sooner.

Back in December we took our tests on a Friday and uploaded the results that same day.  We had our travel authorizations that same day. (for a Tuesday Departure because at that time they required 4 days ahead)

  6. We did a cruise to Bermuda in December and the Travel Authorization was $75 pp at the time.  Also, at that time you needed to do a PCR test starting 4 days prior to boarding (not Antigen).  We paid $125 pp for the PCR tests and had to travel over an hour to do the tests.  These changes make the process more palatable.

We will do the antigen tests with the home video option provided by NCL.  The monitored tests cost $45 each.  Our plan is to do the tests on Friday morning for our Sunday Boarding.  The tests will meet the Bermuda requirements and the cruise line requirements.  This is a good thing.

  7. Good Morning.  I just checked the Bermuda website and it has been updated with the latest requirements.  The travel authorization is now $40 per person.   Also, Supervised Antigen test is acceptable up to 2 days before embarking.  This means the same antigen test can be used for Bermuda Travel Authorization and for NCL at the pier.   No need for PCR test.

Seems clear to me at this point.

  8. Confused....  NCL site says that for Bermuda that they now only require the Antigen test and that the travel authorization is $40 per person.   However the Bermuda site listed above and referenced on the NCL site still says that the PCR test is required and that the travel authorization is $75 per person.

Not clear to me at all as to what I need to do for April 10th departure date.

  9. Hi

We are staying 2 nights in Venice before our cruise out of Civitavecchia.

I have done hours of research on hotels in Venice and have narrowed it down to the following (listed in my order of first choice, etc.):

    1. Locanda ai Santi Apostoli (On Grand Canal and seems like a good value)
    2. Best Western Cavaletto e Doge Orseolo
    3. Hotel Kette
    4. Hotel Arlecchino

Does anyone have any advice on the above or perhaps a favorite (not overly pricey or luxury) hotel in Venice?

I am looking for atmosphere and good value and a bit of good location. I guess I should mention that we will be arriving and departing by train.

    Thank you.

  10. I am so thankful for all your advice. I love reading your responses and gathering as much information as I can. This is our first trip to Europe. I did use the airfare matrix for my research.

    Here are my choices:

    1. JFK to Venice (with stop in Paris) and then return from Rome to JFK (non-stop) $2577 (for 2 of us).
    2. PHL to Venice (with stop in London) and then return from Rome to PHL (non-stop) $2493 (for 2 of us).
    3. JFK to Milan (non-stop) and then return Rome to JFK (non-stop) $1989 (for 2 of us)
    4. JFK to Milan (non-stop) and return Milan to JFK (non-stop) $1269 (for 2 of us). :D

I am thinking that option #3 might be the best. We could fly into Milan and take the train to Venice- stay 2 nights. then take the train to Rome for our cruise. and then fly home from Rome. $700 difference which we would eat up (literally!).

You are all awesome! Thanks so much!

  11. Thanks CruiserBruce for your advice. We have never been to Italy so this is a biggie for us. We are so excited and I may be trying to cram too much in. I am also trying to find the best flights for us at the best price.

The flight arrives in Milan at 8:45 am. From there I was thinking head directly to Venice via train (tired and jet lagged I suppose) Perhaps we should skip Venice and spend a night in Milan and then head to Rome in the morning to spend a couple days pre-cruise.

Returning we come into port very early. I had thought we would take the train to Milan and then fly out the following morning.

I guess the main thing is that I had really wanted to see Venice while there.

    Thanks Again.

  12. Hi

We are cruising in March of 2015 out of Civitavecchia. The best airfare I can find from NYC is to Milan Malpensa Airport. We are planning on flying overnight on a tuesday and then hopping on the high speed train to Venice for a couple days (wednesday and thursday nights). On Friday Morning we would then take the train to Rome for a night where the next morning we would make our way to the port (which is about an 1 hour away I believe). When we return to port 12 days later we will then make our way to one of the Rome Train Stations and head to Milan for an overnight where we would fly home the next morning. Whew... Does that sound like it's doable? By flying in and out of Milan, we save appox $1000. That is huge. But would I spend that in all the additional train travel and hotel for one night in Milan?

Thanks in advance for any advice.
