  1. Hello all

I was looking at booking a excursion for the 8th on my fiancée's birthday and she wants to go horseback riding

I looked at the carnival excursion and it lists up to 250 pounds and you get a 30 minute ride.

I the only other option I have found was this company that has good reviews on trip advisor however when I contacted them for information it has been a little odd.

for example when I asked about my weight I weight 235 and I'm 6'3" so I'm a big guy I got a response of your fine but don't gain a pound!

So I just let that pass as them maybe joking a bit and asked how they differed from the one on the ship and a few more questions and got a reply of I don't know what theirs includes but this is ours.. Ok I can work with that I guess I asked about the group size and was told only 6 people so that was a good thing..

So me being me I asked about my weight again and asked what happens if we miss the port of call and I got a quick reply of our weight limit is 220.

I replied yes but on the first email you said 235 was ok. and dead air.. no response at all...

am I making to much out of this?

    has anyone used them before?

this would be the first time I have used a off the ship excursion in Nassau and I want to make sure I do it right

  2. Obviously they must have limits to each program, whether it be Verizon, AARP, Citi, etc since somebody is chipping in the 10% savings (probably some short of cost sharing) and they keep it so we all don't buy unlimited amounts. Just bought some cards from citi last night so I can get cheers on my April cruise and they limited me to $500. Luckily, my wife also has a citi card and was able to get the other $500 from hers..so I get to pay for cheers and enough for the Steakhouse once on board LOL. Already got some for some excursions along with the OHJOHN discount so in effect got some Carnival excursions for nearly 15% off.

I was hoping I could do that too but I guess double cash and the Citi sears cards don't qualify

  3. Ok a lot of responses so I will try to answer, I am leaning twords dishonest.

When I was booking with him I specifically stated that I had been on ships that had a interior room that was larger than a standard.

I also pointed out on the map that the room appeared bigger.

he said it was a printing error and stated that he would do some research and let me know.

the next day we saw him and asked if he found anything out and he said matter of fact that he was right and they were the same.

we looked on the website and it was very vague.

We even looked at doing the suite for the size again but my wife just didn't like the location so we booked the ocean view.

You are right I should have researched it when I got home but due to family issues I didn't and that's my fault but when I did and called about a month later I was told we don't do downgrades. So I thought about it again and called today and asked again they verified I was right but said sorry...

Who should I contact for this just call and ask for a supervisor? or is there a email contact?

  4. Ok guys,

I have a question I had something happen on the ship and I don't know address it.

we book another cruise for May in Charleston a 10 day Journey's while we were on our last cruise.

We generally book a deluxe ocean view for the size of the room and the sunshine doesn't have one. So I went to book a interior because honestly we don't like the suites in the back because of motion sickness, and we spend most of our time on deck and just sleep in the room

The future cruise agent told us that the ocean view was larger than a interior in any class room. so we booked a ocean view on his insistence on the size and I didn't want to argue about a ship I had never been on

but now I have discovered that a 4j interior is the same size but at the time of booking it was almost $1,000 less in cost.

so I called carnival can talked to them and they said that there's nothing they can do because it was a early saver

I don't know what direction to go here. Right now a 4j is actually more than what I paid.

However when you look back at when I booked its a thousand less.

it seems like the guy on ship just took advantage of us not knowing the size difference on that ship. ( the sunshine ).

It seems like there should be something that they can do right? I may have been a honest mistake but I don't think so this guy said he has been doing it for years so he should have known the sizes right

  5. We took this cruise from San Deigo a few years ago,

And honestly I don't think I would do it again or not from that port.

that being said it wasn't the ports fault or really carnival's

It was the cruise itself. We were on the Spirit before they were moved to Australia as a matter of fact it was their last cruise so we had a lot of crew family which honestly we loved.

The crew was great and Stew the CD was good too.

So now you may ask yourself why wouldn't I do it again if everything was good.

its a 5 day cruise there, and 5 back. and its Cold and Salty I mean everything was coated. to the point if you tried to be on deck you were coated quickly.

We were used to the Caribbean cruse and honestly weren't warned about the drastic weather and temp difference .

5 sea days in the Bahamas is was different. And yes partially that falls on us for not doing our research. But I wish they had set our expectations with a little warnings.

The ship had to really move to get there and back and everyone got sea sick even me and I never get sea sick.

They actually had a jumper from the serenity deck and a medical evac and we missed the Mexico port because of all the delays. and again that's not their fault.

That being said Hawaii was wonderful, but if I had it to do again I would save the money and go back to Alaska. as much as a Beach Bum as I am that was my favorite

  6. I am one of those people who doesn't mind paying for the Cheers program.

And that is honestly saying a lot because I used to "Smuggle " :)

I honestly usually stick to the same ole same old Jack and coke or Aberfeldy 12 year

until last year I went to a Johnny walker tasting and enjoyed Double black and Blue but to my dismay I was told it wasn't on the program.

And that's the old program so with the new limit a Whoohoo inducing $50.00 a drink that begs the question.

what drinks are that expensive beyond the Champagne in the steakhouse.

I mean I don't mind paying for the program, but I would like to take advantage of it and try a few new things.

and since most "Top Shelf's" are hidden under the bar or in the back.

what Option's are available at the bars now that previously weren't available?

Will my Double black or Blue be available to me now?

  7. you know I hadn't thought about it much but I was on the Dream and they only offered morning or evening but nothing was said about both.

The steward apologized but said it was because he had more rooms to take care of and honestly he seemed a little overwhelmed.and honestly it bothered me very little except for the towels.

There was IMNO far less interacting with the stewards now then it was say 5 years ago. the steward would greet you by name and honestly you could always find one if you need one. but now they are very busy and I feel bad disturbing them because it seems like they are overwhelmed by the sheer amount of work in front of them.

However I am booked on the Ecstasy in September and they have raised their rates for the tipping again. I believe its up to 16.00 per person almost double what it was a few years ago. and I have to admit if they only offer half the service it will bother me.

that being said I completely agree these people work very hard and deserve their tips. but it can be hard to rationalize paying almost double the tips <10pp to 16pp >for less service.

I would like them to institute a " discount " or something like that.

IE; if you pay 15pp you get once a day and if you pay a little more you get a little more..

I completely understand cost cutting for profitability but you cant keep cutting while at the same time raising prices...

  8. I apologize for not updating this.

I will try to address everyone's questions.

YES they were bug bites. our family prac confirmed it but wasn't able to fully confirm it was bed bugs.

the person that said they require fumigation is correct and they are very hard to see with the naked eye.

So I believe carnival looked for larger biting bugs but did not take care of the actual issue.

As for the person who says I don't understand how VIFP works..you can bite me.I have sailed on countless carnival cruises i am aware as i explained numerous times how it works. And by the way carnival agreed with me that I was correct and fixed the issue I am fully platinum.

They offered me a refund for some of my gratuity but I declined it. all the servers weren't bad just a few and i refuse to punish all for a few.

Lastly thank you for there person who agreed how freaking horrible it is to have to justify my opinion and restate the facts over and over in the same topic.

I love carnival don't get me wrong but these people who take it upon themselves to grill someone and try to pass the blame onto the person with the issue to try to protect someone like they are their family member not a huge corporation who cares nothing about them personally can please feel free to leave my questions and topics alone

  9. you know the easiest way to verify... look it up on the carnival page....

In addition, guests who purchase CHEERS! are entitled to:

    • 25% discount off the menu price for bottled water
    • 25% discount off the menu price for any spirits or wine above $10.00 per drink
    • 25% discount off the menu price for wine and champagne by the bottle

  10. Personally I am very excited about the option of Mobile again.currently I have to port from New Orleans which means staying in a hotel for the night before and paying for parking because of the drive time.

but mobile is 2 hours away and in my opinion a much better drive.

the only downside is I wont be able to hear the son sweet home Alabama. without some schmo yelling roll tide in the background.... sheesh

when they did port from mobile I was talking to one of the cruise directors that said that they were moving for the exact reason stated above two ports doing similar routes caused a drop in prices..

However Mobile has had a very hard time finding a use for the port since carnival left they have done wedding and proms etc.. but its sitting there like a white elephant.. they probably gave them a HUGE discount for the use..Some money is better than no money right?

and I'm quite sure them letting carnival the few times they have had ship issues in the past came into play as well
