  1. We just arrived in Miami on Monday 5/11/15 at the port on a quick 4-day cruise. I was looking for a reasonably priced shuttle from the Port of Miami to Ft. Lauderdale International.

I found a few reviews on Trip Adv for this guy, so I took a shot in the dark.

Jeff was VERY quick in communicating via e-mail and phone. He called us as the ship arrived, told us to call him once we off of the ship.

We called him as we cleared customs, he picked us up in 3 minutes in a clean Mercedes Van. We picked up 1 other couple and we all were off to the airport.

Jeff was professional, polite and courteous. He offered a "free tour" of the Miami area on the way back to the hotel and even pointed out a few areas to stay in the Ft Lauderdale area.

All in all, Jiffy Jeff gets 5 stars from me, We'll definitely use his services in the future! Sometimes, you don't have to spend a lot to get the most bang for your buck. Jeff's rate was the lowest that we found per person and was well worth it. :)

  2. Question - is there any warning that a wave of that size may hit?

Unfortunately there is no way to warn of a rogue wave.

I have 2 friends on that ship, hopefully they are OK

We arrived in Port Canaveral this morning on the Freedom, and last night the ride was a rough one. High winds, waves etc. The Explorer is a tough old bird, she'll persevere thanks to a great crew

  3. It was bitter sweet to see the ship re-floated to be removed. The loss of life of those who were getting ready to begin their vacation still hit me in January when I stepped on the Freedom. It also makes you remember that humans are not infallible, and the slightest mistake can spell impending doom.

The amazing engineering that it took to perform this feat is impressive, especially with a ship of that size. I'm glad that the residents of Giglio get to have their pristine coast almost back to normal, however it was such a waste of a beautiful ship due to the lackluster behavior of a person who should have been more responsible with the lives of those entrusted to him instead of showboating to others.

  4. A few more sunset pics

and that's it for Key West pictures. I'll pop up a few more from around Miami and Fort Lauderdale taken the day we got off the ship.

For an older ship, it really is impressive, classic and beautiful.

Your photos in KW brought me back to a great 2 week vacation sent there. I remember going to Mallory Square to watch the sunset as well as the street performers. When the sun hit the water, applause broke out... every night :)

  5. OK, now this is my new favorite. Let's see if you can surpass this one with some more photos. Please :)

Absolutely! I totally agree, beautiful capture!

I haven't been to Nassau since 2004, thank you for posting those photos which brought back wonderful memories, especially the snorkeling on Rainbow Reef.

Your photo eye is remarkable, keep up the phenomenal work!

  6. Aside from the pushing and shoving? Or are you referring to getting onto a car when a kid just got off and every floor button was pushed?

Yeah, they irk me, but its a small price to pay for a week in paradise.

I'm never in a hurry on a cruise ship. :)

  7. I have a question to I redeemed 250 for obc will that show up on my cruises reservation? Do you still have to call RCCL to make sure it there?

I just redeemed $ 250 for my OBC and didn't see a place for the reservation #, however I have the reciept as proof, which I'll be bringing along with me.

I don't know where you got this information from, but as of today 11/23/13 RCI's website states different from what you have posted.

It sounds to good to be true, hopefully it only because they haven't had a chance to update their website.

  9. We did the Rainbow Reef in '04, this was the "group excursion" that all 15 in our group decided to do. I will say that being a scuba diver, I was satisfied with the amount of marine life in the area. There were thousands of fish.

You are taken out on an open boat, the crew instructs you on how to use your mask, fins snorkel as well as inflatable vest.

On the way to the reef, they point out notable houses on the water owned by celebrities (so they say).

It is an easy excursion, you can float on the surface and look down, or be more daring and swim down below the water to the sea floor, it's about 15 feet if memory serves correctly.

If you are looking to attract fish, they boat sells fish food for a small fee, you'll have them eating out of your hand if you want... Bring a camera rated for underwater use.

    A good excursion and memorable.

We went to Cocoa Cay last year, and were going to jet-ski. On our arrival we had 7 foot seas, I went to the Explorations desk and inquired about cancelling the excursion ($ 29.00 per person) I was kindly informed that if I cancelled, I would not get a refund, however if the conditions warranted, they would cancel for safety reasons.

We went to the island, it was a rough ride (Hurricane Sandy was tearing up the Caribbean) Once on the Island, it was nice, we went to the Jetski excursion, took the class, and as we were getting ready to head out, they cancelled it and we received a full refund as promised.

I spent the rest of the afternoon in a palm grove lying in a hammock relaxing while wild chickens walked around. It was a great day to be in the sun relaxing.

Also, if you have a mask, fins & a snorkel I'm told that you can solo snorkel in Cocoa Cay from the beach for no cost.

Have a great trip, I'll be in Cocoa Cay in January!
