  1. Thinking about a cruise next year on Mariner and I have a few questions.  Do you have to make reservations for all shows and activities? Does the MTD work well?

My experience on HOS was a disaster. Too much stress and rushing about. We are looking for a more relaxing experience.

How bad is the smoke in the casino? Do you have to walk through the casino?

  2. I am in the same situation__1020. We are guaranteed an AQ cabin. My Celebrity rep says "they" should get in touch in a few days. I'm not going to move into a regular veranda unless it's the last cabin in the ship. They should move you to another cabin in the same category  or upgrade you.

The word, compensation, should be in the conversation. Final payment is very soon for us.

  3. Sounds great. We will be in that cabin in about 3 months. What about the balcony? My friend is concerned about ports to charge all those electronics. What is the new setup? Can't wait to be close to the T-pool, Spa cafe, and pool.  We have eaten in BLU many times, but the last cruise on Infinity is the first time we have had any trouble with it. The place was crowded and loud because of a large group that always ate at a large table in the middle of the room. For the first time we had to wait for a place at dinner. Maybe all those folks came from the suites.

  4. I was on the 'sail event" cruise and the airport situation was a nightmare. When we finally got to the gate we discovered that the aircraft type had been changed and the computer had randomly assigned seats. Instead of the Comfort Plus seat I paid for I got a regular seat far back on the plane away from my friend. Couples were separated and late arrivals didn't have a seat at all. I would never assume anything at Schipol. I would rather shop for chocolate and cookies than try to make an early flight.

  5. Last year my 16 year old grandgirl and I had a wonderful week on the Silhouette. We had 3 ports and Coco Cay. She was never bored. She went with me to Captain's club events and the cruise director treated her like a princess. She always found food that she liked.

For the boys I would definitely choose RCI where they could be active on the ship.

I suppose it depends on the children> Involve them in the planning and get their ideas..

  6. The Hampton Plantation has several restaurants that will deliver. Our favorite was a Central American chicken place that was delicious. The kind folks at the desk had all the info. We ate in the breakfast area. The afternoon wine reception was also a treat. Don't know if they still do this, but it was nice and well attended.

  7. Don't worry. The atmosphere in Blu is so much better. If you want something extra just ask the waiter. If you want to try a small portion of an entree ask for a small size as an appetizer. Enjoy your glass of wine with dinner. Ask the waiter for advice on the items on the menu. There are many choices on the breakfast menu. They bring around a tray of pastries so you don't have to fight someone in the buffet for what you want.

I have waited a short time, but never had a beeper. The first night is always a little hectic, but the filet that is served that night is good. That night you will be offered a discount for another restaurant.
  8. Football can make us all crazy. My brother and his wife lived in Europe for a number of years and because of the time difference had to tape games and watch them on Sunday morning. All of us in the US were forbidden to comment until late in the day on Sunday.

My brother could not wait for the Auburn "title" game a few years ago and stayed up all night to watch. I visited a few months later and brought him his championship hat and t-shirt.

On the Solstice I am hoping for a football party like we had on Equinox one year for the Super Bowl. The crowd watching in the casino were the rowdy ones.

  9. On my last Alaska cruise we watched the Georgia/Alabama game on the TV in our room. That is the last time that the two teams met in regular season. We warned our steward that it could get loud and it did when the Dawgs were victorious.

I planned better this time because Georgia has an off week when we will be cruising.

I am sure the Seattle folks don't want to miss a Seahawks game.
