  1. Thanks for the information.

I was not aware of the staff door issue. DH is a light sleeper, so wondering on the frequency of use overnight?

Not terrible. There's a lot of opening and closing when they're doing things on the superbridge, but otherwise it's no different than any other staff door that will have the occasional opening, you just can't say for sure whether or not it'll open at night. It is something to be aware of though. We didn't have any problems, but some people have complained and suggested bringing earplugs or something like that.

Overall we loved the "sweet" and would book it again in a heartbeat.

  2. We are thinking of booking this cabin for an upcoming cruise but wondered how the noise is from the promenade.

Pretty much nil. The windows are fairly thick. I wanted to be able to enjoy the parade from my promenade window, but it was all just muffled. :( The staff door beside the cabin (leads to the superbridge on the promenade), on the other hand, can get annoying with opening and closing throughout the day and night, but I was able to sleep through it fine.

Does this cabin come with priority check in?

No. There are zero suite perks aside from concierge lounge access.

  3. Maybe you were just unlucky with the batch of strip steaks. On Freedom at the beginning of August the strip steaks were some of the best we'd had. Absolutely no gristle, tasty, tender and perfectly cooked. My DS had the sliders one night and loved them.

Three weeks can't pass quick enough! Mmm mmm!

  4. For those that received the sweet Suite privileges... did you get double C&A points? We have it in October (38 days!). I don't really care if I actually get double points, but it would be a nice surprise!

The only suite benefit is concierge access. I wish I could get double points from sailing in an interior!

  5. Nice flight

Shepherds pie when we got home mmmmmmm

Sorry for the confusion if anybody miss heard

home until 30th sept returning to Freedom on that day until feb 3rd

During my time off yes I will be getting married to a lady who is the sports supervisor called Bex I have been seeing for 4 years...like to keep somethings private :p

    Be well

    Graham

Now when can we get you two up on stage for the Love and Marriage show? :D

Enjoy your time off, and congrats!

  6. You do realize... according to these message boards... he's already married... oh wait... that wasn't true either... as he told me, the things he finds out about himself on these boards are really interesting!

Haha, good point! Got my fingers crossed he'll be back in October! :D

  7. or more accurately, Graham has left the fleet (for six months). At Saturday's farewell show, Graham announced that he was taking six months off (last week was his last cruise)- and getting married:cool:.

    Congrats. We'll miss you:)

His last post said he'd be back September 30th. We're looking forward to him on our October 7 cruise... so are you sure?

  8. Almost all of the complaints I've seen about other cruisers have generally revolved around adults, so I don't necessarily think an adults-only cruise would be better. I've never had a problem with kids on ship. Yeah, they might hit all the floors on the elevators, but c'mon, THEY'RE KIDS ON VACATION. Don't sweat the small stuff.

As for the solarium and other 'adult' areas, I think the better solution would just be for Royal Caribbean to enforce the rules they already have in place.

  9. In the months leading up to departure I had been in communication with their wedding Dept to ask general questions, then one day, about two months prior to departure I called their Dept again, but this time it was specific to my reservation. They could not find my reservation! On top of this, they didn't think they could accommodate my wedding as other weddings were now booked (after mine btw).....seriously....are you kidding me! They actually asked me to prove that I had paid my deposit! You could only imagine my stress....we and 20 other guests were expecting a wedding in only a matter of weeks! After escalating this situation, they said they could accommodate me, but the attitude I was given was that I should be thankful instead of upset! After many sleepless nights, I called them back and demanded my deposit back.....and yet again, unbelievably they gave me a hard time saying it was too late to cancel. I just about lost it. After escalating the situation again, they refunded my money. I booked with "A Wedding For You" who quickly took care of all the details to situate a wedding in Jamaica. My only worry was if we would be diverted from that port, but it was January, so I took the risk.....I didn't really have much of a choice. When I escalated the situation, I asked if they could give me anything for the chaos and stress that I was put through....they gave me a $100 voucher for a FUTURE sailing.....not my wedding cruise.

So let me get this straight... They offered to accommodate you and you declined and demanded your money back, which they gave back to you... You still got your wedding, and demanded even more from the cruise line and got a $100 voucher on a future sailing that you decided not to use... and now EIGHT YEARS LATER, you're trying to demand even more from the cruise line?

GIVE ME A FRIGGIN BREAK.

This type of "THE WORLD OWES ME" mentality drives me up the wall. I'd understand it if RCCL wouldn't accommodate your wedding (and wasn't 8 years ago), but they offered to and YOU decided to walk away. They even offered you a $100 voucher. Again, YOU decided not to use it.

This is dust in the wind.

  10. My girlfriend and I got off the Freedom on Sunday and we had spent the week in the Ben and Jerry's "Sweet" (Stateroom 6305). Overall the week was great, and I wanted to provide info for anyone who might be interested in getting this stateroom.

    • Concierge Lounge access is still a perk of this stateroom
    • The daily treat from Ben and Jerry's is a small cup or sugar cone of ice cream (about $2.50 - $3.00 each), and the treat benefit must be used each day of the cruise; you can't save them up.
    • The room is next to a service door that also serves as the entrance to the sky bridge on the promenade. You can and will hear clicking from the door closing, but it's not loud. We had no problem sleeping.
    • Though you can watch parades from your promenade window, the sound is awfully muffled. With the sky bridge and the Ben and Jerry's shop, your view of the promenade is pretty limited.

If anyone has any questions, I'd be happy to answer them. For us (couple in our 20s), we enjoyed it thoroughly and would book the room again in a heartbeat. :D
