  1. It is not that long.  Depending on traffic, one hour to Vatican.  I would suggest you look at Viator. If Celebrity does not offer you a bus, I am sure they will.  They want you off the ship.  Viator has  small group tours within your time frame. I highly recommend them.  It is the only way you will experience the wonders of the Vatican. They also offer a short visit of Rome.

  2. We cancelled our Regent 10 day fall cruise for a 14 day Celebrity transatlantic suite.  We booked the Celebrity just a few weeks ago. We are Gold on Regent and Elite Plus on Celebrity.  Sometimes we just have to weigh a cruise where we have been before. Our main goal was time in Rome  for our Anniversary. This did fulfill that goal and saved us $10000. Including Business air and a week in Florida.  No, it is not Regent, but for this cruise we will be fine.

  3. We have not taken a Regent cruise out of Miami before. We have taken Celebrity. Is there a parking ramp close to the Regent terminal? Where do they dock? Should we leave our car at the hotel ?

We are on Voyager in February. Our 65 days have always been in Europe. This is a new adventure for us.  Leaving the frozen tundra of Minnesota for a few extra days. Although we will be in Florida for two months.

    Thank you

  4. We were on the Explorer last year on Halloween. They did an amazing job of decorating. The bar across from the casino (cannot remember the name) was transformed. There were a few people in mild costumes. We enjoyed what they did. I also did my part with colors and light up necklace.

  5. I am a Regent perfume user. In very small amounts. When we were on the Explorer in October, we had an unfortunate experience. As we were sitting down at a table for 6 in Pacific Rim, we were told by someone at the table we would have to move. She did not like perfume and refused to sit with us. We were accommodated at another table and had a wonderful evening. My DH let her know as we left how rude she was. Management apologized profusely.

Why on earth sit at a group table if there is a chance you will feel threatened by another guest. Ridiculous. There are many private tables that could keep someone secluded. Tired of the snowflake mentality pervasive today.

Whew! Sorry, just had to get that experience off my chest.

  6. We are also currently on the Explorer. We have been on seven of twenty two days. As always, opinions are subjective. The Explorer is the most beautiful ship we have been on. Yes, a couple of design hiccups, but nothing that would change my opinion of the ship. The service has been outstanding. The best of any Regent cruise we have been on. The staff have been receptive and eager to help. A few issues with the wine selection in Compass Rose, but we are working around that.

  7. We will be on the Explorer for Halloween. Last year on Celebrity they did a lot of decorating and there were many costumes. Will they do anything like this on the Explorer? Just wondering if I should bring some kind of festive attire.

  8. We used our att phones for one month on the Silhouette including November transatlantic. When using wifi (we had unlimited), we kept phone on airplane mode and cellular data OFF. That is important. With wifi we could text, and use the phone and data. We did not have any problems or charges for the month in Europe and at sea. You have to set this up with ATT prior to your cruise. They will walk you through setup. You also have to have ATT passport downloaded.

    Hope this helps.

  9. We were on the Reflection in a S1 deck 6. Very disappointing. The ceiling was shorter, so any longer clothes in the closet hung on the floor. The room is smaller, with different furniture configuration. You cannot sit outside your door. There is only a small nook around the corner for a chair and table. No room for the stool. I wish we had done more research on the room. We have had several S1 suites, and assumed they would all be the same.

  10. We have been lucky enough to cruise Regent, Azamara, and Celebrity. Most of our cruises have been with Celebrity. Regent is a special experience. There is no comparison depending on destination. Our first cruise was on Celebrity, and we will spend a month on the Silhouette this fall. I believe they have come a long way in customer service. Ship size is almost the main difference between them and Regent. :)

  11. Thank you for all the input. Yes, I gave in to DH for the Perry Grant cruise. We are getting off of the Reflection the day before, which let to this cruise. I have never stayed in an oceanview and have been lucky enough to stay primarily in suites. I panicked when I thought water would come in the window. I know... Irrational. I am aware of our decision, and will live with it. But I hope something opens up, so I do not have to sell my new Grandson for the Celebrity suite.

  12. My DH decided last friday he wanted to cruise with Perry Grant on the 3-15 sailing. The only rooms available were oceanview guarantee. Our TA recommended finishing booking with Celebrity. We were told not to worry, we could upgrade before sail.We were assigned room 3117 today. I do not want to be a snob, but I am not sure I can handle two weeks with this. Can anyone help me?

  13. We booked Choice Air through our TA. We are Platinum on American and have flown millions of miles with them. We booked one way business class which we are upgrading to First Class with American directly. This could not be done if it were a consolidator fare. I believe either Celebrity or American will take care of us if there are any difficulties. Some on this board should fact check before lumping Choice Air into a certain category.
