  1. We were in OS 1003 several years ago and there was a problem with noise. The bass speakers in the Observation Lounge are located directly above the bedroom of the OS. I would not ever book that room again - 19 days of "thump, thump, thump" over my head into the wee hours of night was quite enough for one lifetime. I know that the people on our sailing who were booked in 1203 had no issues.

  2. Help me understand your question;

    If you want "refundable points", why not just cash in your points instead of getting an OBC?

    Then, use the cash to pay your NCL Mastercard bill (and get more points).

    I have just gotten cash in the past. I just disembarked the Jade today and noticed on the statement that they were very clear about what was refundable vs. non-refundable OBC. As such, I wanted to know which category the OBC resulting from using points fell into.

  3. You will have a copy of your charges sometime through the night at your door waiting for you in the morning.

    You can go down the night before and wait in the long line to get printout etc.

    It will be on your cc by the time you get home, well maybe in a day or two. But NCL and the CC company don't waste any time these days.

    Our cruise in Sept ended 25th and the charges were posted on the 26th.

    Similarly, I have routinely seen it take two (also known as a couple) days to post to my cc. This has been the case in >50% of NCL cruises we've taken. YMMV.

  4. Thanks ! I had seen that....but I was confused by other posts...thought some people were getting NCL specific offers via mail....:confused:

    I do get offers for bonus points in the mail frequently (every other week, it seems). I've noticed they are frequently the same offers to be found online, so don't worry that you're missing something.

  5. We once had a forward penthouse on deck 9 (9500) on the Jade, so one deck above the room you're referencing. The noise from the Stardust Lounge was very loud. Lots of thumping, etc. This happened during the day for rehearsals too. I would think that 8534 would be further back toward midship that you wouldn't be impacted as much.

  6. This is our first time sailing on Celebrity Silhouette. Which Specialty Dining options would you recommend or not recommend?

    Just off the Silhouette and Tuscan Grille was fantastic.

  7. Still in port, so I'm able to comment. There are several of us on the ship who sailed exactly one year ago. All of those guests have noted the same decline in service. As for me, my concern is that the staff on this ship are going to get someone very, very sick with their general lack of concern over food safety. I have a food allergy, which is simple to address. It's a situation where an ingredient is simply omitted and the Executive Chef agreed that it is easy to address. I had to send all of the first 4 dinner entrees back over concerns with my allergy. Some of you may disagree, but it simply shouldn't have to be concerned over such a thing - I should alert the chef to my allergy and be able to move forward knowing that Celebrity cares and that they will serve me food that has not been contaminated with my allergen. This is what I expect of any cruise line and I do not believe it to be an unrealistic expectation. The issues with my food allergy combined with the food contamination issues I observed at the grilling station in the Oceanview Cafe (on more than one occasion across multiple days, I may add) make me concerned that Celebrity doesn't take food safety concerns seriously. For that, Celebrity doesn't deserve to be rewarded with my future cruise dollars.

  8. I'm sitting in my stateroom on the Silhouette writing this as our cruise is quickly coming to an end. We sailed on the Silhouette approximately one year ago and were impressed by the quality and service. The X product was fantastic. Unfortunately, there has been a severe decline in service and, in particular, food quality on the ship. It has left us scratching our heads and wondering why. The crew wanders about on the ship completely disengaged. There is an attitude of "we just don't care" on the ship. Staff is untrained and inexperienced. I have personally witnessed several instances of food contamination (for example, a crew member using utensils on cooked (grilled) meats that had just been used on raw meats). We've spoken with the Maître D, Restaurant Manager and twice with the Executive Chef, and yet these things are continuing. There are so many guests on the ship who are unhappy and nothing seems to be done to correct the issues. It is disappointing to see such a reversal in such a short period of time.

    Following our last cruise on the ship (our first on X), we thought we had found our new favorite cruise line. After observing what has been going on aboard the Silhouette, we're not sure we want to sail X again. We're just so disappointed because we had such phenomenal service on the ship last time.

    I will give a full review when I return home in a few days. I thought that those of you with an upcoming cruise on Silhouette might want to prepare yourselves.

  9. We are frequent NCL cruisers and took our first Celebrity cruise on Silhouette last year. We sail Silhouette again in a week. We found the Celebrity cruising experience to be more elegant without feeling stuffy. When we sail NCL, we only sail in suites because we appreciate the additional perks/attention. We sailed Concierge Class on Celebrity and we felt just as special as we do on NCL in a suite. We thoroughly enjoyed our time on the Silhouette and would highly recommend the ship.
