We were on a Brilliance Baltic cruise in June and did the 2 day “Must See” tour with Alla Tours. While it was full on in was an excellent tour going to the Hermitage and Church of Spilled Blood along with a cruise, short subway ride, lunches in restaurants both days and other sites. Communication prior to the tours was also great with prompt replies to any questions. I would thoroughly recommend them.

While I was initially concerned with the age and size of the ship after reading reviews from both yourself and another lovely fellow, Jim, I have decided to go ahead.

We cruised on Voyager from Singapore to Hong Kong in June/July of this year and used the diamond lounge nightly.

I am making a booking on Ovation of the Seas in an obstructed view balcony cabin. Cabins available are 7702, 6660 and 6290. Could anyone please advise which would be the best of these cabins or suggest another obstructed view.

Yes, there are a number of shuttle services. I don't know the "best" one, but a search of these boards will get you a few options. A taxi is going to be $70-$80. There are private car services that offer the ride for about the same price.

 

I have very little experience with Dallas airport, so can't help you there. But an hour and twenty minutes does seem like a reasonable connection time.

 

All I can say is that if you are flying American to Dallas from Miami, give yourself plenty of time at Miami airport. Security lines are often ridiculous unless you are flying first class or have some other priority access, and the American terminal is extremely long and you often have a very long way to go to get to your gate.

 

By the way, for the rent a car option I suggested, you can pick up a car at Fort

 

 

 

 

Lauderdale and return it to Miami with no drop off charge from almost all of the major car rental companies.

Thank you very much Matt, you have been a great help. We have decided to take your advice and leave from Fort Lauderdale. We can apparently clear customs there so the connection time should be ok though a total of 24hrs and 15 minutes flight time is not something I look forward to!

Royal offers some excursion options for people with later flights - they get you off the ship, take your luggage and you see something in the Fort Lauderdale area and then they take you to the airport.

 

There is no place I know of to privately store your luggage. Royal wants you off the ship by 10:30, 10:45 ish.

 

Another option is to rent a car and do a little touring around yourself and return the car to the airport. Of course your luggage can be in the trunk then.

 

Miami airport is always a nightmare. I live in Miami and I usually opt to drive the 30 miles north to Fort Lauderdale when I need to fly.

I am just a little concerned that the Fort Lauderdale connection time in Dallas is a little tight, arrives at 18.50 departure time for the Sydney flight is 18.10.

I have spoken to Qantas who assure me that if we were to miss the connection they would have to either put us on another flight or pay accommodation until the following day. The Miami flight has a longer connection time, 4 hrs.

Are there a number of shuttle services from the cruise port to Miami airport and what would be the approximate cost?

If your plane is already at the gate at Fort Lauderdale International, you can see it from the top deck of Oasis. The airport is that close.

 

Miami is considerably further away.

We are looking to book a cruise on Oasis in November. Could anyone please advise which would be the best airport to depart back to Australia from as there are available flights from both Miami and Fort Lauderdale airports.

Fort Lauderdale flight departs at 4pm and Miami at 2pm. Flight from Miami is the cheapest option by $50.

As the price difference is only slight which airport would be the easiest?

Can anyone please advise if the balcony for stateroom 8279 has a larger balcony than those on the hump? Any information is appreciated.

Yes, you are correct. 1690 is larger than 1692. We love these cabins. We are currently booked in 9392 on the Explorer for our next cruise.

Hi, Thanks for posting this, I have cabin 1690 booked on Voyager of the Seas in January and from this photo the balcony looks to be wider than 1692. Can anyone confirm this?

Thank you for taking the time (and effort) to post this fantastic review. I love all the photos and as I have never been on Radiance before it is helping me to familiarize myself with it's layout. We will be joining the ship in Hawaii for our return to Sydney.

Wondered if you had noticed if they have green tea in either the dining room or Windgammer? Know it seems a silly question but if not I will pick some up in Honolulu.

The countdown has been a lengthy one for us, booked last November, but we are very excited that it is now so close.

The grommet is in the vinyl pouch, not the paper. I have lots of stuff, but I do not have a laminating machine. If I ever acquire one, I might try making tags. For now, I'll stick with paper tags placed in vinyl pouches.

 

 

Others have said Walmart and Target and Dollar stores carry them, too, usually in the sample/travel size section.

That is the kit...well done, Mrs Toad. Once the toothbrush, paste, toothbrush cover and card stock are removed, the resealable bag is reasonably sturdy...it will certainly protect a printed tag from moisture and tears.

Thank you so much for posting this. While I have been unable to find anything similar in Australia we are spending 6 days in Hawaii prior to our upcoming cruise on Radiance so can hopefully find some in Walgreens in Waikiki. The toothbrush and tooth paste are an added bonus!

Just wondering if the showers have curtains or doors? Will be on the Radiance, Hawaii to Sydney, in 4 weeks time and can't wait. Great news about the Internet as we will be using it. Have only sailed on Liberty and Voyager so far so am a little concerned that there may not be enough to keep us occupied for 17 days, only 5 port days. Any tips/info would be appreciated.
