  1. Thanks everyone,

I was in a funk, thanks for your support. I am in between terms. It is a merry-go-round 12 weeks on 1 week off, only 9 more terms then my dissertation. I do put extra pressure on myslf to keep my 4.0.

Mom, thanks for your concern.:) I do not have diabetic neruopathy, I have nerve damage in my neck and right foot due to automobile accidents. Sorry about your pain and suffering. The pain and sensations in my foot are the same the difference is the cause. Talk with your doc, there are new meds for neuropathic pain. For me it's not just the pain but the other sensations like electric shocks and the feeling that something is crawling up my foot that drive me nuts.

Jane, Thanks, for the kind words and thoughts. I can't wait to take out my olive YSL. I'm still using my Fiore and Gucci Flora, but as soon as it feels like fall, oh wait a minute, it's cool out!

Mrs Moose, You are so very kind and caring. Thank you for reaching out to me.:)

  2. I'm one of those people who always stays in a suite and enjoys designer bags. For me, I'm compensating. My life is pretty restricted. I am disabled and I can't enjoy a lot of the things people take for granted like running or dancing or just having a pain free day. So when I go on a cruise I want to be in the most comfortable accomodations possible. I spend a lot of time in my cabin, can't drink or take excursions, don't gamble so there is not much to spend my money on. I like the creature comforts of my suite. I have nerve damage so I can't even get a massage.

As far as handbags or shoes, shoes are for comfort. Less expensive shoes are just not comfortable. Handbags I admit are just a real splurge. I don't change mine very often. I buy one for fall and one for spring and my evening bag is my Leiber. I guess my rationalization is I'm not depriving or hurting anyone by my indulgences so why not.

I don't think anyone has to justify or explain why they choose to spend their money on the things they choose to buy or defend their prioirties. We all have our reasons for the choices we make. For some reason, in the US, we have this ethic that to indulge oneself is something that needs to be justified and sacrifice is noble.

It was hurtful to me that no one responded to me earlier in this thread. It should not have been, but it was. For some reason, I felt that way right now. I have been around long enough to know better than to take things personally, but I just had to let all of you who know me know how I feel.

I know I have been busy. But I try to check in when I can. Sorry if that has not been often enough.

    Linda:(

  3. I love handbags!

However, I do not like the logo patterns. I really like soft buttery leather bags.

My favorite designer for the past few years has been Gucci. I have a brown suede and a flora canvas.:D

This summer I bought an Isabella Fiore hobo that has lots of beads and sequins all over it and it is soooo heavy.

I bought a YSL olive muse handbag for the fall and I am really looking forward to wearing it.

I also have a black Chanel, a small black snakeskin Leiber, and a hot pink Juicy Couture.

My creme de la creme are my two Leiber evening bags. One in brown shades. And the other in pastels that once belonged to Zsa Zsa Gabor!:)

I like classic handbags but once in a while I like something whimsical like the Isabel Fiore. Handbags are so much fun. My DH knows how much I enjoy these handbags and likes to surprise me. He got me the Gucci flora for my birthday and surprised me with a Chanel Wallet for Mother's Day.:)

    What fun!

  4. OK, it's been a few days. Pinky and Perky were here. This is priceless.

I have another issue, I would like to add to the discussion. Reading this thread brought back memories of a trauma I suffer every cruise. It is a real problem. I need support.

When I am at home, the TP is easily reached with my right hand. It has become a habit. It is right there. Rolling right off the top.

On board, it is on the LEFT. Trauma!! I reach with my right hand, No TP!! :D I actually have to think about it and it is emotionally jarring.

Do any of you share my pain????

    Linda  :D

Remember, just because I'm a shrink does't mean I can't have my hang ups too. I'm only human.

  5. I would like to offer my professional services to all who are traumatized by this horror and have their cruises ruined by TP placed the wrong way on the roll in their bathrooms. The stress of dealing with this trauma, far from home, on what should be a flawless, blissful vacation can be overwhelming.

I am sure HAL will provide us with accomodations so that we can hold our necessary group therapy meetings on board. We must be on board one of their ships for the necessary desensitization sessions so those afflicted can overcome their trauma, in vivo.

Post Traumatic Stress can scar a person for their entire life. Surely, HAL will respond to those who have been subjected to the horror of Reverse TP Exposure. I feel that we would need 10 days, on a ship, in a warm climate, with daily group sessions and lots of relaxation for those who are traumatized to begin their recovery.

What do you think? ;) ;)

  6. Can we bring a deck chair with a massage attachment? I know there are chairs that have these. I saw one on the Maasdam, it cost a dollar a minute. If we can get a massaging deck chair and set it up at the pool, it would be great. Think of the money we can save on the spa bill! :D :D

  7. OK, I confess, the new Signature of Excellence program will now save me the trouble of smuggling my own mattress from home on board on my next cruise. I'm so glad they upgraded the beds! The space bags helped on my last two cruises, but it was a tight fit! We have a king size mattress and for some reason the airline insisted we check it through and would not allow it as a carry on. Then... oh well I guess you can get the picture. It's not pretty.

Thank goodness we no longer have to do that!!

    Linda :D :D
