  1. I don't typically book a ship's shore excursion, as they seem overpriced and too many people on them.   I have recently read that Oceania only has 16 people on their Shore excursions.  Is this true of all their excursions or just the OS ones?   Also, do you find that taking the shore excursion option in OLife is worth it.  We usually take the OBC.

    Thanks,

  2. We have a family cruise to Alaska planned for next summer. There will be a total of 14 people in our group. This includes a 2 yr old. Can anyone recommend a company that would be able to take us out? Not sure if many companies will take a 2 yr old.

We did a tour with Harv & Marv in 2016 and had a great time. I saw on the boards that someone posted that the ownership has changed, does anyone know when that was ?

  3. I am putting together a cruise for my husband's siblings (us included) to do an Alaskan cruise, including inside passage. None of his siblings have cruised before, we have done 17 and love them. I am considering a round trip out of Vancouver on Nieuw Amsterdam and Northbound itinerary on Millennium ending in Seward. HAL goes to Glacier Bay, Celebrity to Hubbard Glacier. And Celebrity also adds and extra port, Icy Strait. Costs are close, Celebrity a bit higher. Any input or comments would be great.

  4. We are 11 days from sailing. We are on the Ryndam, Norse Legends cruise on June 6th. Just received our cabin assignment today. I had booked a Vista Suite BB Guarantee. We got a Vista Suite A.

    Great location.

Now 4 days from sailing, we got an upsell offer. From Vista Suite A to a Neptune Suite. Took it.

    Excited for the trip !!

  5. Ok I give up on trying to figure this out! Yesterday there were still over 12 signature suites and 10 Neptune suites, plus many other categories available.

I check this morning and the May 30th sailing shows sold out?? I still have no assignment 4 days out.

Where did all these rooms go?

Probably to Upsell Offers. Keep watching, your cabin assignment should be soon.

    Good Luck

  6. We've decided to do the HAL itinerary. We have sailed with HAL before, and know the product. Have never been on NCL, and after reading reviews, I don't think it's a good fit for us. Would have actually loved to have gone on the Celebrity cruise in August, but those dates don't work for us.

We are leaving for a Western Med. Cruise with Oceania in a month. First time with them, with an outstanding itinerary. Love cruising'

Thank you, to those who responded.

  8. Hello Everyone! I need a little help in trying to decide an itinerary for our stop in Livorno on October 5th. We are booked on Oceania's Marina and this is our second stop at this port. The first time we went straight to Florence and spent the day there. I am leaning toward taking an excursion through Go Next (college alumni tour group) to Lucca for a tour and visit to a winery. But...we have never been to see the Leaning Tower of Pisa and feel that I really should do that since I am there and may not go back to this port. The excursion is 5-1/2 hours long beginning at 8:15am and we should return to the ship by 2:00pm. Would it be possible for us to get to Pisa and back on our own via the train before our ship departs at 8:00pm? Just to get a glimpse of the Leaning Tower? We wouldn't climb it, just walk around and take the usual photos. BTW...October 5 is a Sunday and thus one of the reasons I am leaning toward taking an excursion due to many shops, museums, etc being closed. Thanks in advance for any help anyone may have!

    Kim,

We are on the same cruise. We too, are thinking of going to Lucca. I am concerned about the shops being closed. You mentioned an excursion with "Go Next", is that only available to a specific group ?

  9. As Pam says, Monaco is very easy on your own, but St Tropez is even easier. These are my 'experiences' in both places last October.

    All the best, Tony

Thank you everyone for your comments, especially Tony. Loved the videos. St. Tropez looks much better than many posts on CC gave it credit for. It was referred as a "waste of a port" or that most of the day was spent on the ship by the pool. We do want to visit some areas outside of the cities. But, will one do that only at one of the ports.

Tony - I noticed you are from St. Ives, in June we are visiting the Cornwall area, and staying 2 nights in St. Ives. Any pub/restaurant recommendations?

  10. Mura - Thank you for your input. I do realize every cruise/every ship is different. We are doing a western mediterranean itinerary (Rome - BCN) in early October. We've done 11 cruises, to date, I have not had motion sickness, but I tend to book a cabin close to the center of the ship. The larger balcony, is the reason I'm considering moving further back.

  11. We have taken many cruises, but always on larger ships where motion wasn't much of an issue. We are booked on the Marina, and I was wondering, if you would feel much motion being in cabin 7123. I love the size of the balcony, and am thinking of switching to this cabin. Any input would be appreciated.

  12. We just returned from a 12 day Eastern Med. Cruise. I had booked RIL for 3 ports, and they delivered on all three. I was most impressed with our tour "Godfather Country" in Sicily. We had heavy rains during the morning, and our guide was still able to salvage the day, and made our tour very enjoyable. I like using RIL, because you know what you are buying. A guide who knows the area, speaks fluent english, drives safely, and has a nice vehicle. I will definitely use them again.
