  1. we tried the Bistro on the Summit for the first time this past December. had some of that OBC to use and thought why not. at 6:30pm we were the only ones there and the meal exceeded our expectations. they had a special each night, but the cesaer salad with the grilled shrimp is what brought us back several more times. I did have one of the dinner crepes and several desert crepes and watched him prepare the crepes fresh. Now, alas if what is being stated is true, no need to go back if sushi is the offering. now if they had a Mexican food station, but then again I don't think I'd pay $ 10 or even $ 15 for it though

  2. we are just off of the Summit from a B2B Dec 5th and Dec 12th. the first week had a special menu item each night and my wife did love the bacon mac and cheese. the next night had chicken pot pie which again was excellent. but the cesear salad with grilled shrimp was top notch. the second week had no dinner specials but the soup menu instead. did not go there for the soup

  3. I do fault Celebrity for not enforcing really anything . My wife has told me I am becoming an angry old man. Its probably true. lamenting the loss any sense of

class, manners or what you might call it. Celebrity had/has always a little more niceness to it. That's why we cruise with them. They did have the decency to seat likeminded individuals near us. Maybe Celebrity needs time to figure out what chic is. Chic is not a faded tshirt from your local bar and a baseball cap frontways, sideways or backward.

  4. we just got off of the summit after a B2B starting Dec 5th, we had select dining with a two top overlooking the 4th floor(fixed dining) so we had a great view of who wore what. I don't own a tux but bring a dark suit and tie. and like wearing it. so, chic night became a carnival cruise any night wear, a smattering of tuxes, some suits, but mostly long sleeve button down shirts with nice pants, however, there was a significant number of Hawaiian shirts, baseballs caps, t shirts for chic night. no enforcing of what the ship's idea of what chic is. We have booked the summit for the same time next year. I may bring the suit to wear just to spite those who look like they just left the local bar. The dumbing down of Celebrity has begun.

  5. even though I am disappointed with the change, my wife and I will still dress formal for those formal nights. and since are we trying select dining for the first time, I would hope that they would seat us with like minded individuals. we are on a Dec 5th sailing and it will be interesting to see the effect of the change. we have seen the pics of what is considered chic. and. well. this 60yr old manbod just isn't going to look like that no matter what I wear

  6. we have been to coki twice, first time last December and again this past june with 20 inlaws. when walking onto the beach, to right will be towards coral world and a coral reef that juts out to deeper water. this is where the majority of the fish congregate. there will be snorkelers and people just wading into the water to see the fish. the snorkel rental shops provide with rental, dog biscuits to the feed the fish while you are in the water. you can wade right in say to 3 or 4ft and be surrounded by fish.

if you when you walk onto the beach and go the left, there wont be much fish to see. but the entire beach is excellent for swimming

  7. usually sleep in till 6:30am, try to leave the cabin without disturbing the DW

go to the back of the ship and have morning coffee as it pulls into port, have my first ahem light breakfast, then wait for the DW to find me at 8am for the next breakfast, head to the beach by 9:30 back by 3pm, take a nap before dinner, in bed by 10pm and repeat the next day

  8. I agree with cruising the Caribbean and flying to Hawaii, but, maybe a 7day cruise around the islands and a 7day land vacation on 2 islands, been to Hawaii 3 times, 2 with land vacations and one with the cruise around the islands. I wouldn't even consider cruising to Hawaii as is too many sea days and the chance of rough seas in the open water(but that's just me)

  9. splurges include balcony room, precruise hotel, and on our next cruise in Dec business class air, cash for the casino on sea days, maybe a specialty restaurant in the future

skrimps, beverage packages, excursions, haven't used the specialty restaurants in the past as the MDR has been more satisfactory. since we beach people, the taxis to the beach are all that are needed

  10. we did the following week with 21 family members and couldn't agree more

with your review and accolades of the ship and the islands. I do believe there

were some in our party that had a burger everyday, they were that good. in fact. after looking at some of our family members, the individual(speedy) made a decision that one patty wasn't enough and gave myself and some members 4 pattys on a bun. I didn't eat much for dinner that night. my wife and I are beach people so 3 of islands, st kitts, st thomas and Barbados it was straight to the beach. it was our second time on a carnival ship, the first time 10 years ago.

  11. I vote no to dynamic seating on celebrity. we have tried the freestyle dining on NCL a couple of times and found the service to be indifferent towards us and for that reason have not been back to NCL. We prefer the traditional seating on celebrity. also have traveled with upward of 20 family members and traditional seating is the only thing that works. don't need 20 different thoughts of when or where to eat. Its comforting to know that our waiter has a bowl of pats of butter at the table for those who have requested it early in the cruise and the bowls of lemon wedges at the table for those who have to have lemon wedge in the glass of water. those small things of attention help make the cruise dinner experience more enjoyable. If we were to travel as a couple we may choose the freestyle or select dining only because its just us

but for now leave the dining as is

  12. having done both, if my wife and I are traveling as a couple, anytime is the choice, if with a group, traditional is the only choice. dont want too many people to coordinate. however we prefer traditional as you the same waiter each night adds to djining experience. It just seems that anytime the service isnt quite same, as you may get a different waitstaff each night. thats the way it has seemed to us
