  1. You need more than a regular cruise for much of Patagonia.

We were there in March and it was wonderful though we could have used more time (and been much younger and fitter in order to do some hiking.)

We loved the Lake District and drove from Puerto Montt in Chile to Bariloche in Argentina and back. We took the ferry boat up the inner passage on the west coast of Chile from Puerto Natales to Puerto Montt. We took day trips to Torres del Paine and the Los Glaciares (Puerto Moreno glacier.) We spent two nights in Punta Arenas and five altogether in Ushuaia. We saw penguins and the Terre del Fuego Park and took scenic drives in Ushuaia

Please tell me more! How did you drive from Puerto Montt? Rental Car? Which pass? Any trouble at the border? The famous lake-drive-lake-drive route is only for foot passengers, right? Did you go up to San Martin de los Andes? How about further south from Bariloche on the Argentine side?. Do you suggest staying in Bariloche, or one of the smaller towns nearby? How about Puerto Varas? Pucon?

The ferry boat from Puerto Natales to Puerto Montt? How was that? Worth the time? vs. a five day cruise from either Puerto Montt, or Puerto Natales round trip?

    Thanks!!

  2. Has anyone taken the shore excursion to Playa El Coco Beach Escape in San Juan del Sur Nicaragua that Princess has recently come out with?

Sounds like a nice relaxing day.......any info?

OR any other beaches to recommend just to chill out for the day?

    Thanks,

    Donna

I went into Goggle trips and evidently there are plenty of tour boats in the harbor with day tours. Or, choose your own beach. Language issues, yes, and just don't pay them until you get back...

  3. I was happy with my TA experience on MSC. I always found something tasty to eat. The ship is absolutely gorgeous, and the housekeeping and maintenance perfect.

However, the departure from the ship on November 20th was a real mess. It wasn't a disaster, there was no blood, and nobody died. But, waiting over three hours for luggage is inexcusable. Due to a publicity stunt and to give local travel agents a chance to see the ship the Divina arrived a day early in Miami. Many passengers took advantage of this to disembark on the 19th, saving themselves from the mess on the 20th.

On the 20th confusion reigned. Not just the usual MSC Italian run around, but real chaos as luggage was still onboard the ship at 10:30AM. Passengers were being held onboard over two hours past their scheduled disembarkation times. Luggage instead of being sorted by colors was coming off all over the place. I personally spoke to people who had been waiting over three hours for their luggage. I personally overheard passengers telling the local staff that MSC could just send their luggage to them since they could not wait any longer (3 hours!!) because they had a plane to catch.

I've never known a cruise line to be incapable of just getting luggage off the ship and onto the dock. Was this too much to expect?

  4. Hi neighbor to my north (tbmrt). I'm on the Dec. 7 sailing and been following the boards since May 2013. I too would like an answer regarding dinner times and if there will be a sail away party. My only gripe is not being able to bring water. My parents need water to take medication and we do not drink the water out of the faucet. I guess we will have to buy the bottle water on the ship.

I'm going on the cruise with an open mind and have told everyone in my group to have an open mind because we are not on Carnival, Royal Caribbean, or NCL. If the food is bland, I will add salt and pepper. I'm looking forward to a new experience since we have been to Nassau many times. This cruise is about the ship.

Don't worry about the water. I brought water, Diet Coke, and even wine on board with no problems. I didn't tell them about the wine, but the water and Diet Coke were in plain, full sight.
