  1. My cruise leaves out of Dubai in two weeks, traveling back and forth through the Strait of Hormuz. I am American and am an experienced traveler, but have never been to the Middle East. In view of the fact that the US president has been making incendiary statements about Iran and has enacted an offensive travel ban, I am looking for reassurance that this trip is still a good idea, and that it is still much safer to visit Dubai/Abu Dhabi/Muscat via ship than it is to walk down some American streets. Thoughts?

  2. We will be taking the train from Rome to Civitavecchia to embark on the June 29 sailing of the Celebrity Reflection. We have done this twice in the past. It was a short walk from the Civitavecchia train station to the small fort to catch the shuttle bus to the ship. However, it seems that last year they moved (temporarily?) the shuttle bus pickup location that seemed much farther away, perhaps not walkable with luggage from the train. Does anyone have current (2015) information about where to pick up the port shuttle for those arriving by train? Thanks in advance!

  3. Doglover214, so sorry to hear about your rotten experience!

I must say that my recent experience with the Boston consulate was completely different than yours, though! I arrived at the consulate on a Monday morning with my family's documents, and spent a very pleasant 9 minutes with the staff there. Less than three weeks later, our visas arrived in the mail, earlier than they promised!

So, I'm not sure whether your bad experience is typical, but I wonder if it had more to do with the visa processing company than with the Brazilian government?
