Keep in mind that with your iPhone on airplane mode, you can still message to other iPhones.

Is this like southwest free messaging?  You don't need any plan to send and receive imessages to anyone?

  2. Self test in  Barcelona Pharmacy is about $5 each.  If you want certified test you buy self test and take test in front of pharmacist who will write up and sign certificate of result for $10 extra.  Test for boarding and flight home were performed at pharmacies closest to hotel and the hotels were different each time.  Procedure was the same.  If you are not happy with the result of test in front of pharmacist, there is no compulsion to pay for certification; but if you need official result for insurance claim,  the certificate is necessary.

  3. Covid test given to everyone, no cost, after dropping off baggage.   Everyone is spread out and health questionnaire was examined before test.  No one seemed to be stopped. Previous land covid test was examined during checkin.  no wait for pier test results.  Checkin immediately after taking pier covid test.  Boarding normal delays after checkin.  Boat not crowded.  Buffet not crowded.  Most cabins did not have baggage waiting outside.

Only one type covid test was available at Farmica near hotel.  antigen.  After test result seen, paperwork was prepared.  no special paper for cruise line.  $15 each test.  Test was similar to free test mailed to US folks if you ask for it.

We are boarding in Barcelona on Friday 22nd April, will let you know

Please update on any boarding hassles you see.  If getting covid test in Barcelona, where and experience.

  5. Three years ago we were on MSC in/out of Kiel.  Used train from Hamburg Hbf. Kiel Hbf to/from Pier used Taxi.  Different Piers used for Em and De barkation.  Transfers were advertised on the daily bulletin on board.  If you have a flight the same day it would be best option on debarkation day.  Public transport is circuitous.  Priced and organized like a tour, not a transfer.  If flight is in the future, take the train, unless you want the included driveby "tour"  There is metro transport at Hamburg airport for getting to/from the city.

Then you have to battle with their mystery IT system which goes crazy at times. The system was changing from cabin a that I booked specifically to a Gurantee. Luckily I was continually checking that I noticed this. Luckily each time it was corrected quickly.

Did you call to correct, or do you mean it autocorrected?  How long did the correction take?

  7. have taken many cruises and never bought the travel agent pushed "travel insurance", so no experience.

This covid 19 required insurance seems to be regular health insurance for US based persons?  Does MSC accept health insurance cards as "proof" of insurance?  This is for a med cruise in April.

Is the insurance part of the documentation upload web checkin?  When is it examined?

I don't want or need "insurance" for any travel costs lost for any reason.  I want to board the ship.

Please give me real experience when you haven't bought "travel insurance" pushed by US travel agents.

I am way past the "purchase by final payment"  buying the MSC insurance, which the travel agent didn't even mention when I booked the cruise using FCC from 2020. The travel agent doesn't know about and doesn't want to deal with this unusual MSC requirement.

I'm going on MSC Opera in August for a week, fully paid up and yet still no excursions are available to book. I assume this is down to COVID and maybe last minute ones going? Dan

No excursions to book on April Med cruise also.

You can call MSC and buy OBC with the negative balance. That’s what I did…along with pre paying service charges with the negative balance

MSC Phone call agent said I could use credit to pay for wifi or anything offered through her.  She said she has no idea what the website offers.

I believe in USA / Canada your Credit Card companies offer a Chargeback policy.

I did the chargeback on a US Chase high annual fee card.  I was refused.  Chase said no claims allowed after 60 days.  I booked months in advance for a cruise cancelled at the last minute.  I didn't see your UK label before my enquiry.
