  1. I used Priceline for an Amsterdam hotel in April. I ended up with a hotel behind the main train station, about a 15 minute walk, but they had a shuttle.

I kind of felt like I was in no-mans-land. Too far and inconvenient to just go for a quick stroll. The hotel was superb, however. Just the location wasn't great. So, I highly recommend avoiding that area if you can.

This might help. It's a list of known Priceline hotels in Amsterdam. http://www.hoteldealsrevealed.com/hotelinventory/priceline/netherlands/amsterdam

Remember to bid low and work your way up.

  2. I know this wasn't your original question, but the walk from the Hyatt to BC Place isn't that bad. It will take you about 20 minutes door to door, probably around the same time as the skytrain. This assumes you're not getting out from a concert and trying to catch the Skytrain. Then the Skytrain will be even slower.

  3. If you only have 1 day, the Victoria Clipper is by far the easiest and fasted way to get to Victoria. You leave downtown Seattle and arrive in downtown Victoria... couldn't be easier.

To see Butchart Gardens, you'll either need to take a tour, catch the city bus, or rent a car. It's quite a distance from the harbour, so a taxi is not really feasible (probably about $60 each way).

  4. The drive is easy enough. Just follow the I-5 north. It will take maybe 3 hours plus border crossing and allowances for traffic.

Out of curiosity, are you going to return your rental car while cruising, or hold it (and pay for parking) for the 7 days.

I am biased toward renting a car. I love it. But I only rent a car when I know I'm going to get a lot of use out of it.

  5. Hi.

(Please, no flaming if this question has been asked. I have searched and couldn't find an exact answer to my questions).

I am looking for a cruise out of LA down to Mexico in March 2016 (spring break). Just wondering what the best time to book, in so far as prices? We are not too picky about cabin selection but are price sensitive. Is there a better time to book where we'd perhaps save $? We don't have a particular cruise in mind either. There are 3 or 4 potential cruises, so we're flexible on dates / cruise lines.

    Appreciate your input.

  6. The Everglades are pretty cool. I visited in March when everything was dry as a bone. Not sure what it'd be like in January, but I'd still probably go check it out. Seeing alligators up close is something you just don't get to see in my neck of the woods. Lots of other wildlife too.

If you're feeling adventurous, check out South Beach. That would be a fun place to have lunch and people watch for a while.

  7. I think your best bet would be to use hotwire or priceline. Look at downtown and beach locations. There's no guarantee you will be on the ocean. But I see a couple beach area with great ratings.

But unless you raise your budget to $ 200 or so, there is little even on my favorite site, lastminutetravel for your budget. :o

I agree with you about Hotwire. As the original poster wanted to be near the water, I would recommend avoiding Priceline. If Hotwire, look for a hotel with the amenity "beachfront" or "oceanfront". If not within your budget "near ocean" usually means within half a block or so from the ocean.

Although PL is cheaper, its best to avoid them when you have particular requirement as they cannot guarantee they'll be met. Use HotelDealsRevealed.com to help you figure out what hotel you're likely to get.

Both Hotwire and Priceline are not for the risk adverse. You can't cancel your hotel reservation.

  8. You'll get a lot of suggestions about BART.

Sent from my iPhone using Forums

+1 for BART. There really isn't a faster or easier way to get downtown. You could then catch a cab to the port if you wanted to, or take the trolley. I've driven from SFO to downtown many times. Traffic can be hectic at times, or it can be no problem at all.

I guess it depends on your criteria. If you want cheap and fast, but you'll have to transfer and walk a bit, definitely take the BART.

  9. Have you thought about a car rental? It probably doesn't make sense in your case, unless you wanted to boot around a bit. I started renting cars about 4 years ago, and now I do it on most trips (except when I'm staying in the city). I've found that I can port my insurance over so its usually dead cheap to rent a car.

  10. Blue, don't you think that if Priceline assigned one of those hotels that we would have heard about it here?!? :D

Agree. I've checked a few other sources and have found nothing, including this:

Hotels in Miami on Priceline: http://www.hoteldealsrevealed.com/hotelinventory/priceline/fl/miami

Hotels in Ft. Lauderdale on Priceline: http://www.hoteldealsrevealed.com/hotelinventory/priceline/fl/fort-lauderdale

Thx for making me laugh, to the person who reminded us that our ads are tailored to the content we browse on the internet :-) Had a good chuckle when I read that.

  11. I always use Priceline when booking in Seattle, and I almost always get the Sheraton or the Westin but there are a few others in the 4-star range that are all very much acceptable. Have a look at the Priceline hotels in Seattle to see what you might get.

I would also avoid the Space Needle area. I stayed there in my early 20s and didn't bother going back. Some parts are ok, just as great to walk around.

  12. Last time I was in SFO, the BART was $9.10 I believe. It takes roughly half an hour. A good spot to get off would be Market & Powell if you want to catch the cable car. Or you can take it and get off at the Embarcadero and look around. You probably want to see the GG Bridge but it was not mentioned in your post.

  13. Yes, the Skytrain will take you from the airport to Waterfront Station. Very easy, but I think there is one transfer that you need to make. Back before the Olympics, it used to be a pain in the butt to get to / from airport / downtown but now its super quick, cheap and easy. Walk out the waterfront station and boom you're there at the foot of the Pan Pacific Hotel and Canada Place.

  14. We are on a cruise out of Vancouver on NCL (but the name of the ship escapes me right now). It is in late Septeber, departing on Sept 23. What can we expect in terms of the weather? Will this be freezing cold? One of the ladies in our group is a 'cold person' who like her heat set at 80 year round. Miserable time ahead, or will she (and the rest of the group) still have a pleasant time? Will swimming on the ships pool be off limits? Tips and thoughts on what to expect in late Sept appreciated.

  15. I just won the Seaport Boston in the Boston Waterfront - Convention Center zone. $145/night May 30-Jun 2, 2014

I looked at the Boston Priceline list of hotels on Hotel Deals Revealed and narrowed it down to 3 hotels. This is the one I wanted the least. Was hoping for the westin or Renaissance but the price was right but knew it was a gamble. Oh well, overall still happy.

Had to rebid a few times before getting this hotel.

  16. I see a $99 rate for what I think is the Hilton Marina on 2/27/10 on Hotwire in FLL. Is it ok to post Hotwire info here, or ask for help ?? If not where is the acceptable place. If so...does anyone think this is a good price ?? Should I wait til it gets closer?? $99 for end of February seems good ...but?????? not sure. HELP !!!!!

Do you know the star rating and the amenities?

Check out www.hoteldealsrevealed.com/hotelinventory. They have a list of Hotwire hotels including amenities. Compare and see if there's a match. I don't see any 4 star hotels on their list but the ratings change all the time.
