  1. This has been under publicised in my opinion. We are just back and I took precautionary repellents with me. We were fine but a friend who visited 6 weeks before had 8 weeks of work. That said I was told that the Islands had fumigated themselves!! Seems a bit unlikely but a repellent will no doubt be effective for you. No one I know that has been recently. Ie in the last month has had any problems..

  2. Just done this and had a fabulous time. Now looking to book again!

You fly either on the Fri or Sat and spend 14 nights on board. We flew on the Sat and sailed that evening. At the end you either return on the Fri or Sat (that corresponds with your outbound flight) If it's on the Sat you have all day Fri in Barbados and then fly out on the Sat early eve, landing back in the UK early Sun morning...to miserable wind and rain weighing ten pounds more but with a wonderful tan and amazing memories.

    So, no hotels..

    Get booking-I would! (And will!)

  3. We were on the Christmas Azura too! Time of our lives! Like others have said, it's what you make of it.. If there are aspects that don't appeal like the Sea screen then move elsewhere!! Lots and lots of quieter places and at least two quieter pools.

Our party had 10 people aged from 2 to 75. Everyone loved it! As we all know forums are notorious for attracting negative comments although of course there are genuine problems experienced by some. I was amazed at how many people were having an amazing holiday, yet one so different from ours. Some never left the ship, others never dined formally..it is what you make it!

Book it. I believe you would find the vast majority of passengers wouldn't hesitate to cruise on Azura again!!

  4. We've had these and if it's the same as other cruise lines they sort of screw up into the ceiling! You won't even know they're there! The steward lowers it with his special key in the evening ready for bed. It doesn't interfere or impede the room, view or balcony and I would describe it as a bunk/mezzanine!

  5. Just go on your cruise and have a fantastic time.

Don't talk about how much/little you paid as this is very annoying. Please remember the first rule of cruising.

Someone on board paid less than you. Just live with that.

And please try and post using English rather than lower case text speak. Good grammar costs nothing and separates us from the animals.

I sincerely hope you regret your rude, unnecessary and obnoxious comment.

Don't bother responding to me unless you are apologising for belittling another forum user.

  6. Hello!

We've cruised several times with at least 3 kids, this time we're taking 5 of them! We too are doing 14 nights in the Caribbean and experience has taught us to do just one or two organised trips (or no trips). We prefer to catch a taxi and head to the beach! And so do the kids!

On the ship it's possible and likely you won't spend too much. We buy the odd photo and wine packages. I'd be fuming if my bill exceeded £500!

As our Xmas cruise has 9 Islands and I have to transport at least 8 of us around we're looking at $100 per port day. This will do taxis, a few drinks and if essential a snack. (As the bill payer I prefer to shepherd the troops back to the ship for any food!).

What I love about cruises is that once you've paid, you've paid. I don't see spending money anything more than the bare minimal.

Of course, what I haven't mentioned is my penchant for expensive watches. Worked out that the price of a watch on some islands means that the cruise gets thrown in free! The last one was nearly £2k more here. (Customs, please disregard this)

Have a wonderful cruise-you will. It's all such fun!

  7. Hello Cruisers!

I have read (too) much now about the ins and outs of fares but have a question!

It seems that Getaway passengers (I have booked 10 of these for Christmas!) don't get transfers included at the port. Can anyone tell me please does this refer to a trip to say, the town centre or is it for when the ship is far from the port entrance and therefore a bus is required just to leave the port?

I know many of the port entrances are within easy walking distance but I also remembered somewhere in the Middle East taking a lengthy ride just to get to the port exit!

    Thank you in anticipation!

  8. Definition of riff-raff:Vantage Fare cruiser.

If P and O choose to offer two fares, one priced considerably less than the other then this riff-raff is opting for the cheaper one.

Why? So I have more money left to get my extra strength Special Brew of course! (Can anyone confirm this is available aboard P and O or should I bring my own?)

Apologies to those cruisers of a better class if I'm abusive when tanked up. Perhaps you could suggest a two tier system to P and O, maybe segregation or tar and feathers for Vantage Cruisers.

    Vantage Fare Passenger and Proud!!!
