  1. Thanks everyone for these replies. I'd previously been in touch with the Haven Concierge on board who had said we would be tendering to St Mark's pier, but then I received other info from them that we would be docking at the cruise port. (and it still shows on CruiseMappper that we are??) I'd planned on going with the flow either way, since they gave conflicting info.  While I'm disappointed to miss Venice as a port day (we will be there 2 days on the back end, so we'll get there), I am definitely glad not to have to deal with a 90 minute tender ride each way - that sounds awful!

I do think it's bad business though of NCL to sell this cruise as departing from Venice (which we all know really isn't Venice) with a Venice port day, when in the end, many people won't get a chance to see Venice at all.  If they don't have a plan for how to handle the situation there, they shouldn't wait until 7 days out to tell everyone they don't get to go to Venice.

It does sound like we can expect some sort of compensation for the missed port though, right?

  2. We just sailed in 17033 and the noise from the public sundeck above was annoying. Chairs scraping early in the morning, but more so were the kids/teens running and jumping up there until midnight. Even though 17 is a Haven floor, they would take the elevator up and sit in the stairwell at the top of 17 listening to music - then running around the deck at night. Posh is much quieter - day and night and we wished we'd taken cabin 17030. Cabin itself was lovely - just think under Posh would be better.

  3. Hello,

Could anyone who has travelled on Tauck Bridges river cruise comment on how the activities are for teens age 13/17? I've heard there's only 1 set activity/excursion each day on these family trips and am concerned they may be too juvenile for teens. Does anyone know?

    Thanks!

  4. Just returned from a good week onboard the Summit. We stayed in a Royal Suite and overall, the ship was better than expected, especially for her age.

I have a few quick thoughts on our experiences. We were a family of 6 (10/13 year old kids and in-laws) in Royal Suite connecting to Concierge cabin.

    Negatives:

Mildew in shower of suite cabin. Peeling paint on deck of suite. Don't believe cabin was vacuumed all week - had to request sand in closet be vacuumed. Butler a bit stand-offish.

Nothing for families to do together on board. We played shuffleboard and then cards in our room a lot. No one showed for trivia 2 days except us!

Wine Cellars and Aqua Spa Cafe deserted most of the week.

Canyon Ranch not available first 2 days, then no push to bring customers to see this great, new product - no specials, no sample treatments in lobby/public areas to entice us to go.

Way too hot in fitness center. No fans on or near treadmills and they are situated right in the sun.

    Positives:

Loved the non-smoking ship (only a few designated smoking areas)

    Casino staff very nice.

Loved comedian and magician as well as Will Forter (sp?) and band 5 O'Clock Somewhere.

Captain Leonardo was funny, friendly and interacted with guests better than any other captain we've had.

Main dining room staff were great.

Food in Oceanview cafe (buffet) better than expected.

Liked dinner at Qsine but wouldn't have paid $45 per person for our group of 6 (had free suite dinner for 4 of us).

Drink package was great. Didn't feel "nickel and dimed" like on other cruises.

Overall, we would definitely consider another Celebrity cruise!

  5. From what I've read here, am I correct that it costs $5 per person for suite guests to dine at Blu? And it's on a space available basis? Does that seem strange since suites pay so much more and have so many other perks that this isn't included?

    Thanks for any clarification.
