  1. 1) Price. We bought a pack of 10 ready made cans of Pimms which cost £10, so £1 a time. Exactly the same cans are available in cabin fridges - cost £4.40 each (so that £10 would have been £44.40). And, if I recall, one purchased from the bars is £5.75, cost £57.50 for £10.

    2) Convenience. They were in our cabin ready and waiting for when we fancied one. No need to order or go and collect them.

We don't count cost, we are on holiday! We don't buy cans of Pimms at home, just a bottle.:)

  2. Be aware that there is no freedom dining on Adonia. Also, when we were on her two years ago for 50 nights, the buffet is not open every evening.

    However, we loved the ship.

  3. Our steward has always come up trumps with whatever we need, sometimes even staying on after his shift to organise extra drinks, glasses, wine, and nibbles for us when we entertained friends in our mere balcony cabin. Surely a butler, in a suite, can provide the extras for a Pimms?!

But why take it on board when it is readily available at most bar outlets?? Our favourite tipple at sail away from a port is a Pimms for him and a Bombay Cooler for me. The latter is not now advertised but is available if you ask.

We always order 2 bottles of spirits to be delivered to our cabin when we board and enjoy a drink whilst getting ready for dinner, before having another elsewhere, and the ice and slices arrive without fail every evening, on the dot. No need to order this every day, just make it a daily event at a time to suit your evening arrangements.

  4. Both of us are covered for our conditions with our travel insurance. Both of those conditions do not require us to inform them, they are covered automatically. However, to make sure that we are covered for any eventuality we always advise then of any visit to our GP for even the slightest thing, whether medication was prescribed or not.

Some idiots think that they are invincible and travel without having a serious, if past condition, not included; not the OP, they asked a very good question, to which they have received sensible advice and have acted on that advice.

In all our years of cruising we have only had to cancel once and there was no problem in claiming as we had been honest about declaring everything.

  5. I have only had reason to contact him once and he replied, in person, on a weekend. I suggested to my TA, who was also involved in my complaint, that it was a minion that answered my e mail but they said that he actually does answer.OK he passed it to a named person at HO but I then received a phone on the next working day, as he had promised. Maybe the poor chap is fed up of all the minor complains that he is bothered with and not the really serious ones, which ours was, one that just might have made headlines in the press if we had been so inclined.

  6. I agree entirely but what annoys me about P&O is at every Peninsular Club party that you go on they bleat on about loyalty but it is only ever one way from customer to P&O. They introduced the Peninsular Club and at the time we were Baltic and among benefits were priority booking of speciality restaurants in embarkation lounge onboard which is now gone because everybody can book in advance pre cruise whether its their first time or umpteenth cruise. Why have they dropped this benefit just to make money because you now have to pay in advance so no loyalty there from P&O. Finally a benefit of lunch with champagne in a designated lounge on embarkation but since inception of Peninsular Club hjave always had embarkation times of 3pm or later so pointless benefit if you adhere to times.[/QUOTE]

You won't be refused boarding if you turn up outside your designated time IF you are Caribbean tier or above.

  7. I've never seen "tropical casual" listed......but it would be whatever you want, with the exception of shorts!

    Agreed.

Shorts do not meet the smart casual dress code suggested for some nights on some cruise lines; in fact you would not be allowed to enter the buffet, on some cruise lines after 6pm, dressed in shorts, let alone the MDR!!

Tropical casual,................a brightly coloured shirt for the men and similar top for the ladies is just fine.

  8. I have cruised with RCCL, carnival, HAL, princess, P&O, Royal olympic, Louis, NCL and have done budget cruises on Sun Cruises (Airtours) and also last minute on Thomson.

I have cruised I think eight times on Thomson alone, beginning with the emerald, back in the day.

Lots of cruises overall on different lines, with RCCL being my favourite.

They have all been wonderful except for one cruise, which was on P&O Oceana.

My cruises and my vast cruise experience have been well documented on this forum, as many people look for advice and my go to approach is fantastic as I like helping people.

Am going to cruise on Fred, and hopefully Cunard in the future.

    Any other questions darling ?

    .

Yes, I have a question for you, though not who you posted the challenge to.

With your experience of so many cruise lines, exactly how many nights at sea and ports of call have you experienced? Number of cruises count for nothing with me;it's much more than that, as experienced cruisers know.

I think I know your name from another forum way back when!
