  1. I don't eat desserts though my husband loved most of his. The rest of the food in the main dining room was just blah on Reflection. On the millennium class class in the past, everything was amazing. Not sure if it is an overall Celebrity cost cutting or if it the amount of people to be served on the bigger ships cuts quality. I hope it is the later because I don't want to be disappointed if I return to the millennium class ships. I just love everything about them.

  2. We were seated almost immediately nightly on our last cruise in Europe on Reflection (always had reservations but we were also C1 - select seating). BUT they kept seating us on a deuce when we asked for a six top. My husband and I regularly go out to dinner at home so we pick a few nights to eat alone, but we like meeting new people. When we explained this, she sat us at a four top. We thought fine... but the next night, the same couple...  (they were nice but we had already covered everything the night before. Why we don't do old school dining...) We figured out a long time ago that a six top is the best. More than six, you can only talk to the person next to you because you cannot hear anything else. With four, you run out of conversation after a bit unless you connect (that often happens on tours, then you meet for dinner afterwards). Six is perfect. Six gives you a lot of options for conversation. This is what we said to our hostess who seated us every night. She smiled then rolled her eyes... and sat us at a six top the rest of the cruise... Many more nights... but never did a third couple join us (We were polite and respectful so I don't know if/why she didn't like us 😞 but what a bummer). We have been on many Millennium class ships and have always had a great time with six at the table. We are looking at a cruise right now and my husband is not very happy that it is again on Reflection. I hope that he doesn't poo poo the cruise because of this... ALSO I have noticed on other posts that say the food is rather average in the main dining room. We sadly have to agree. Always loved the food on the Millennium class ships. Is it too hard to cook for so many guests or has the overall dining experience diminished?

  3. I just spent a couple days in Capri. There are lots of tours right in the port and you can barter a bit. Pick one that goes to the Blue Grotto. We picked a local fellow with a little boat and it went right in the grotto. It was very reasonable. We went to the local stores, got some beverages and out in the boat we went. Great day!! .

The small boat went into the blue grotto itself? Did you float around the island as well? How much did it cost for two and how long were you on the boat.

    Thanks for your help :-)

  4. I found this info somewhere.... I think we are tendered, so does that mean we are in old town? Is there a way to find out?

    Mykonos, Greece

    Tendered 7:00am to 6:00pm

Cruise ships dock at the Port of Tourlos, about a mile north of Hora. Larger ships may tender. A shuttle bus between the port and Hora is provided.

  5. Hi All

We had the classic drinks package which was included in our cruise price. All drinks purchased without the package are subject to 18% tax. We did buy a couple of drinks that were on the premium package and only had to pay the difference in price plus 18% tax.

Sent from my HTC One_M8 using Forums mobile app

The 18% on alcohol is actually a service charge (or a tip, I hope) not a tax.

"A standard service charge of 18% is automatically added to the price of drinks and 15% is added for beauty treatments."

So I am still unsure if we pay VAT on onboard dining purchases... Has anyone looked at their statement to check?

  6. I've read conflicting info about the cabin we're booked in for our cruise next month and I'm trying to get to the truth.

We booked angled hump cabin 7290 based on the list I'd read before (pasted below), but this link shows the large balcony cabins only on the port side:http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showpost.php?p=24259746&postcount=14 and the S class cabin thread review says 7290 has a normal-sized balcony.

When my TA called me a couple weeks ago and said X was offering a free cc upgrade, I turned it down (pretty aft cabins on 8 or 10) because I didn't want to give up the giant balcony, but now I'm not sure it's bigger at all !

"The following list has the largest balconies (the ones near triple sized; the ones on the slant not on this list have the balconies that are near double sized):

    Resort Deck: 2105, 2109, 2106, 2110

    Penthouse Deck: 1547, 1552, 1601, 1605, 1606, 1610

    Sky Deck: 1075, 1044, 1231, 1243, 1247, 1108, 1120, 1124

    Panorama Deck: 9155, 9192, 9209, 9215, 9237, 9241, 9266, 9270, 9292, 9296

    Vista Deck: 8199, 8162, 8255, 8259, 8281, 8285, 8228, 8232, 8254, 8258

    Sunrise Deck: 7159, 7206, 7215, 7219, 7241, 7245, 7260, 7264, 7286, 7290

    Continental Deck: 6155, 6156, 6209, 6215, 6237, 6241, 6210, 6214, 6236, 6240"

If it doesn't have the extra large balcony, I'm wondering if we should see if we can move. The TA said it was a limited time offer, but there's been a price drop since then and though it's after final payment (and the booking was made after the May 17 deadline for getting OBC's that equal the difference), does X have to offer to move you to a more $ cabin to compensate?

How did you like 7290? I am thinking about that cabin. What was the view like below? Any obstructions? Thank you!!!

  7. Does anyone have pictures or comments about this cabinÞ I did a search, but didn´t get any results ... the hourglass just kept churning. I booked based on the spreadsheet indicating that 8338 on the starboard size has an oversized, covered balcony, so I am hoping it´s the same for this cabin. The comment on the spreadsheet also says the balcony is angled ... that´s not what the deck plan reflects.

    Thanks.

You have been back a while. Do you remember if it was a larger balcony? Is is all covered or just some. I want sun :)

  8. SHIP: Reflection

    CABIN #: 1634

    DECK #: 11

    CLASS: Concierge

AREA: Just behind the mid-ship elevators and stairs

    BED NEAR: Balcony Doors

QUIET?: Yes, we did not hear any extra noises at all except for when we arrived in port and they were moving equipment on the dock

BALCONY VIEW: Great View Aft, you have to lean out to see forward

BALCONY SIZE: Big this is on the end of the "hump"

WIND A PROBLEM?: Not at all as the more forward balcony shields you in a sense

SOOT A PROBLEM?: Did get a little bit of diesel odor on a rougher day at sea if we were on the balcony or had the door open.

PROBLEMS/COMMENTS: No power outlet on headboard side of the room.

(pardon the mess in the pics, I didn't know I was going to share it when I took it, lol)

Looking at your photos, I don't see any sun. Was it covered from above? Or was it just the time of day that the whole side of the ship was in shade? Thanks for your help :-)

  9. I have been trying to bid $100-$110 for a resort or 4 star in San Juan. Question...i was asked if i wanted to rebid higher for $25.00. Does that pretty much guarantee I will get the room for that high? I bid $105 and $110 and received an offer to rebid for $25.00 more.

I just started bidding and my cruise is in October so I'll try for a little longer. I'll post here after I win

If they offer you a price then they will accept it.

  10. Have a great cruise AnnaMiami. Hope you get your chaser. :)

If you ask for it by name you should get the 2 drinks together I would think.

Please check back and let us know. I leave for my cruise at the end of this month and intend getting the premium package. :D

as soon as the bartender waits on the other people at the bar or if you aren't at the bar, whenever the cocktail person can get back to you...

  11. Thank you, Jobeth! Whew, some things appear to have changed. I hope I have time to scour this board and get up-to-speed. No fresh orange juice? Geez. Would it be available in the dining room for breakfast? In the MDR on formal nights, do you still see as many tuxes on the men? We're more "traditional" cruisers, I suppose you'd say.

I see you're leaving soon! Will look forward to your report

We had fresh squeezed oj or grapefruit in concierge class on the room service breakfast menu. I saw many tuxes in the Olympic restaurant—even when it wasn't formal night.

  12. Hi all, we have returned from our Millennium cruise 2 weeks ago and both of us had the classic drinks package. I have to say that this is fantastic, we were never without a drink and most of the waiter know after a day or so that you have a package. At dinner (we were on anytime dinning) both Sommeliers were great. They knew after 2 nights what we drank and would bring a bottle of the wine put it in a ice bucket and would tell us that they were not taking it back and we would have to finish it, serfice to say we always did.

Any questions just ask and i will try to accommodate.

    Graeme

It has been a while since your cruise but I would really appreciate the feedback. We drink wine for dinner. There is a reasonable priced $39 a bottle wine that we like on the list, but I did'nt realize that wine by the bottle was included in the classic package. Was it only a few wines? Please let me know, because that would really make a difference in buying a package or not. We are leaving this week so a quick reply would be really appreciated. :-)

    Thank you.

  13. Searched for Resorts

    Caribe Hilton for 4 rooms

    November 25 -28, 2010

$100 per night for each room (4 couples traveling)

    Taxes & fees extra

On first try I bid $80 and it was rejected, on the second try they countered with $100. so I took it.

My favorite hotel...out of Old San Juan anyhow... That is a great price!

  14. Thank you.......Am I correct that Priceline did not divulge the actual name of the hotel until you accepted the $111 bid? Since it appears that the Marriott seems to be going for between $100-$150, why not just start at around

    $110? Marty

You are correct. They didn't tell me which hotel until I had accepted the bid.

At the time, I had seen lower prices so I started lower. You should do whatever you are comfortable with.

I was actually hoping for a different hotel. This one is fine since the price is so much cheaper than I paid when I booked directly last year that I can afford to take cabs everywhere if I need to and still save money. We had the best location last year to spend a few days in old san juan and walk or trolley everywhere. This year, we will take a cab to get to old san juan. I can live with that :-)

  15. For San Juan resorts is it zone 8?

Need one night, mid-week, for March 17th......too early to start bidding??

Would March be considered shoulder season? What should I start at?

    Thanks,

    Marty

I got the same hotel for early march for the same price. I have seen it higher but not lower. I started at 80 and went up 10 a couple times. It told me that they would let me have it for $111 if I said ok, so I did.
