  1. Arrived for a day at the brand new port of Amber Cove in the Dominican Republic last week with daughter, two grand kids and my sister. What a facility!

I've been to all the private islands (Half Moon Cay is my favorite) as well as to the cruise industry developed ports at Grand Turk and Falmouth. Clearly, Carnival has taken what was learned at those two (as well as Costa Maya) and improved the model. (Ok, I know, there's no beach like at Grand Turk.) Frankly, the ball was dropped at Falmouth as there is little to do except excursions and the town itself is uninviting. I would not seek out another itinerary that included Falmouth.

The planning and attention to detail during the development at Amber Cove is fantastic. The landscaping is ample and well done. The pool and water slide will occupy the kids all day. My daughter enjoyed the zipline ($12 all day). My sister (mid sixties) did the swim with the dolphins excursion and was impressed with the transportation and organization.

The staff is plentiful, uniformed, and very well trained. While there is an occasional English language challenge, the staff attitude is service oriented and enthusiastic. The quality of the crew at Amber Cove was perhaps my biggest positive surprise.

If you have booked an itinerary that includes this new stop, you are in for a treat.

So did you book an excursion there? Is there a beach close to the ship?:)

  2. Your cabin is on the Riveria Deck

not the first floor. (it will help you get around the ship)

you are located in the aft of the ship--

your elevators back here will get you from the bottom to the top

remember that deck 4 and 5 goes all the way through

deck 3 has a dead end from the aft elevator. you can not get forward from there.

THanks everyone for you advice! Hadn't booked it yet but was looking at that one because it had the same one for the July 23rd and we are doing back to back so was thinking of that one so we wouldn't have to change rooms.,:)However, second thought I don't think that would be a good one to chose. Thanks again!:)

  3. Where is this cabin on Carnival Glory.?

Engines are in the aft of a ship far below the passenger cabins.

Ropes? or Anchor will be all the way forward.(in the point of the ship)

Id be more concern with whats above or below then the working area of the ship which does not impact most cruisers today

Its about 3rd from the bottom on the first floor. Somebody said they could hear the anchor or ropes so I was just wondering what they heard?:confused:

  4. Does anyone know how far this park is from the cruise port?(Arikok national park) Also how much does it cost to get in? Has anyone been there before? Sounds like it might be interesting to see. Thanks for your replies:)
