Can anyone confirm that storage cabinets are still in place over the bed in the Aqua cabins (which I believe are the same as pretty much any other veranda cabins)?  With the little collapsible cubes we bring along with us, we've found that storage area to be very useful and nicely out of the way in what otherwise would be useless space.

In our OV, that was pretty much ALL the storage - that plus three half drawers in the dresser, plus the closet for hanging - no cupboards over it or in it.

Please tell us about the Silhoutte now that she has been redone. Did they do away with the giant rockers and the chairs that didn't fit under the desk in the suites? Did they chop up the Sky Lounge?  IS there a Retreat with any water feature or bar?  Is the library still intact? How is the Craft Social? Inquiring minds want to know.

Sky lounge is unchanged.  Library looks intact, those darned hanging eggs in the Hideaway have been replaced with leatherlike roundish chairs, otherwise unchanged.  Craft Social has an impressive beer menu, and a moderate wine menu.   Our OV cabin looked completely unchanged except for carpet and the new electronic door lock.   Alas, suites are out of my budget so can't speak to that.  MDR looks unchanged, same semicircular chairs as the last time we were on her that required cushions on your back to achieve even a semblance of comfort.  The meeting place chairs and tables are new and upgraded - rather comfortable.  Lawn Club grill was fantastic, as was Sushi on 5.  MDR menu is same old same old - I don't think it's been updated in all the years I've been on Celebrity - still, quite good overall.   Same great Celebrity staff, although I think the service suffered by the number of folks cleaning - pulled some of the others off to do cleaning duty, I think.  There was always someone cleaning everywhere (probably a good thing at this point)

  3. They hold back some room inventory for guarantees and don't list them for sale. If they oversell theyll either bump you up a level &/or offer reduced upgrades to tempt others in the sold out level to go to the next level to open space for you.

  4. I've got a similar issue and Princess was great - worked with the wait staff to get what I needed pre ordered each night. They were great modifying stuff. Of course as you know lido buffets can be challenging especially for cross contamination but the dining rooms staff is always great. For the premium restaurants I check when I'm reserving and have no problems

  5. We are to be on the Glory next March. I understand there is an eating place by the name of Blue Iguana. What type of food does it serve, and is it free, or cost to it?

Free, and it's tacos/burritos and other Mexican style. I recommend the breakfast arepas highly.

  6. Been GF for a number of years and unfortunately added low FODMAPs a couple of years ago. Carnival is ALWAYS great on navigating that minefield with me. The MDR staff is great by setting up the next nights dinner each night and most dishes can be tailored. The GF pizza is tolerable, but I discovered last trip that in the morning the blue iguana serves arepas - which are corn meal based and gluten free. Quickly became my favorite. The buffet tends to be hit or miss to figure out though - language barrier with the chef's, but there's usually a good batch of items that aren't gluten - although cross contamination on a buffet is always an issue...

Hope you have a very enjoyable cruise!

  7. Price is based on Cruise length, not when you buy it. I believe that the rules are you pay for the entire cruise, so buying on day 2 doesn't make a lot of sense if you drink on day 1

  8. Going to depend on the ship, I think. Just got back from our second trip on the NCL Spirit, and never again. Talking to some folks in the airport on the way back, just off the Jade, they agreed about the Spirit, but two so so cruises have soured me on NCL. The food was unimpressive (well except for stray plastic in it twice on boarding day, which was impressive, but not the way you would hope), I had some of the worst mixed drinks I have ever had (including my college days and 'swamp juice'), and the service levels were abysmal. Thankfully the itinerary was fabulous, as we're the excursions.

56 days to my third Carnival trip. Been pleased both previous ones - garish decor, crazy antics by the waiters, and guitarists who couldn't sing on key notwithstanding... I should write these up some time - the adventures in cruising.... Food was better on Carnival, service better, activities quite varied but tacky.

  9. Chuckling at FireEater, but the one cruise we were on that was full of drunken college partiers so far *was* on Norwegian - the Spirit doing a western Caribbean out of New Orleans.

According to the crew, the brig was full the entire trip. We stayed away from the pool & bars there the entire trip, and the cleaning crew must have gotten lots of overtime.

  10. Last Caribbean cruise - was so excited about all the great new places to see, checked my camera gear out carefully, three times.

Then left the camera bag on the chair in my office. Bought a nice DSLR on the first stop and skipped some of my usual spa sessions.

    Oh well.

Worst non cruise trip CRS attack - drove 10 hours to a weekend gathering. Putting the luggage on the cart, my wife asks "Bruce, where's *your* suitcase" ... Found a great big & tall store in a new town...

Which reminds me, time to recheck the packing list for next week.
