  1. yes, i've seen the advice from the FO, but MSC so far are saying there are no plans to change at present. We sail in THREE weeks ! Do we go against foreign office advice or jump ship!!!

    Hi Mytchettmart

We too are in the same boat as you, pardon the pun.

I called lastweek and MSC did give anything away about changing route.

Perhaps the question can be placed to the MD when he is fielding questions on the 3rd April on CC.

  2. Dear MSC Cruises USA,

I'm cruising with my DW and DS5 in my cabin and my Best Friend has his own cabin but we all booked together. Me and my family are not interested in any drink package but my best friend might be. Is there any way my best friend would be able to purchase a package without us being forced to?

    Hi

I don't think so, booked family holiday with three cabins and all persons had to have drinks package. Look at the Vouchers, might be the best bet.

  3. Hi

I have seen the new pricing structure MSC has launched. Bella, etc...

Just wondering for those of us that booked prior to the pricing structure if we are having all the "perks" that where offered before the change?

Children's club - this is not included in the basic package if I am reading correctly. Will we see the difference onboard in April and October?

  4. Does anyone have any recent experience on MSC while following a vegan diet? (On a regular cruise, not one of the holistic holidays.). Was there a nice variety offered while dining in the MDR? Are there good options for lunch in the buffet?

    TIA!

    Ruth

    Hi

My family is veggie, no fish or meat and we haven't had any problems with dining whilst cruising. Some ships have pre-planned our meals whilst on board and others have done special meals - with tofu for us whilst not on the regular menu.

If you contact the reception when you board regarding your requirements, the chefs should be more than able to provide your evening meals.

Breakfast is a buffet so there are nuts, dried and fresh fruit for you. Soya milk might be available however not sure.

  5. Hi;

I am on a b2b sailing a week on Sat. What is the earliest we can head off the ship and into Miami as we were hoping to get a full days shopping at dolphin mall. I read 11am to get ready to leave ship but then you had to go back on. When I read on my iteniary we got to port at 7am I assumed we could leave not long after that. Any help would be appreciated!

    Hiya,

We were able to leave the ship around 8am and pick up a cab to Ocean Drive. Not hassle just walked pass the luggage pickup showing the B2B cards given.

PS - Hi Cami, hope you are well.

  6. The situation seems to be escalating with Russia occupying Ukranian soil.

The UK Foreign Minister is on his way and I'm sure the US and other EEC leaders will be trying to talk both sides back down from the brink.

Foreign Office has posted that you should not travel to Crimea and UK nationals should leave the area as of yesterday.

Nothing on MSC's website unless I don't know where to look for these kinds of messages. I have seen notices on RCI's website before.

Not sure if they think it is too early to change yet.

  7. Looks like a budget hostel type, quite a way out of the way to anything except the Naval docks. The Loo is an interesting place with a couple of nice bars but it is too far from the center of Sydney. You will be doing lots of walking. If you are looking for low cost accomm then you cant go wrong with the YHA in the Rocks as previously suggested. Much closer to the action and at least you get a view. Just my opinion.

    Hi casamanda,

Thanks for the reply, will look around the Rocks and see what is good for us. We are have having three nights in Hong Kong on the way back so looking to keep where we sleep on a budget.

  8. I've been on cruises where the itinerary changed, and I Wasn't contacted. (Not MSC, but no harm being certain.)

You can check their website for any changes to the itinerary as well.

Thanks everyone. Will have to wait and see, hopefully it will have calmed down by April.

  9. We have sailed with MSC and Costa as a family in the past, to be honest these cruise lines made it affordable to travel with kids.

The concept of children costing port taxes for the cruise elements allowed my sons to experience Asia and Carribean as well as the Fjords. .

We travel to experience new things and learn about others around us.

MSC have good ships and I thought if MSC were to upgrade the class of ship to Fantastia from Licrica class in summer, the Brits would have seen it as a really alternative RCI and PO.

We are having our next cruise with MSC, our family and first timers, the in-laws over Easter break. The cost including the flights to Genoa were less then Canaries for the break, with the added bonus of sailing into Istanbul. Shame my in-laws will not have the chance to sail from UK in the future if MSC are liked.

  10. Hamburg is a big city and has lots of interesting things to do dependeing of your tastes. How long will you be there? Where is your ship docking?

If you are only one day there, you could try to visit the city center. Although public transportation is very developed in Germany, it is a disadvantage if you do not speak German,so I guess in that case you would be better with a ship excursion.

The Hafenstadt (more or less CityPort) is also a nice place were you can walk and enjoy a day. This is very nice if you dock there. Some ships dock at Altona. From Altona you would have to take public transportation or taxi to go to the city center. If I would not speak German, I would prefer to take a ship excursion.

    Hi Travelberlin,

Hope you don't mind me asking a question. We will be in Hamburg on 5 or 6th October. Think Octoberfest will stillbs going on. Any tips will be most welcomed.

    Thanks in advance.

  11. Hello :)

I would like to spend a day at the Blue Lagoon, our ship will do an overnight call there and I would like to make a day of it.

I hope some of you can help me with a few questions:

I know the Blue Lagoon wrecks your hair - what about a bathing suit? Can you rinse it clean with no damage to it ?

Did you have a water massage? What did you think of it?

How about the spa.................thinking of a facial, any one have a review??

    Thanks!!

    Donna

    Hiya

    Here are my tips.

You don't have to walk outside to enter the Lagoon, there is a pool indoors with a door that opens. Great if the weather is rainy or cold.

There are free pots of mud for use, no need to purchase some.

It is hotter in different areas around the Lagoon. Waterfall is great.

Flooring is uneven and you can stub your toes - move around slow.

Steam rooms are HOT but nice.

  12. We are cruising on Voyager of the Seas in March. Any 'to do' suggestions? This is the husband's first cruise and only my second. I will take your previous advice for sure!;-)

    Hiya

We were on VOS last month, lovely ship. Agree the ice shows are very good. There was a discount on the tickets for a drink so you can have a cheap drink during the show as well.

One thing we like to do is go out for a late night hot tub, one is 24 hours. If you have robes, don't forget them.

If you have a balcony, enjoy a morning coffee with your personal view then go for breakfast a little later.

If you meet some new friends on board, they may share some perks/coupons that you may not have. We were giving a few C&A coupons for 2-4-1 wine or beer as they didn't want to use them.

    Have fun :)

  13. Hi

We spend the day at Long Bay beach and loved it. Snorkled for a few hours, saw a barracude, snake eels and plenty of other fish. Was good for our sons 13 and 11.

We shared a taxi with others on another cruise ship can't remember the cost.

We had all our own kit, not sure if you could rental snorkle gear at the beach. Chairs for hire were not too expensive either.

Has anyone gone to Long Bay Beach and did you enjoy yourselves. Also do you remember how long it was from the pier to the beach.
