  1. Has anyone ever tried the Playa Mia Double Snorkel and Beach Day excursion? We would like to try it, if it will get us back to the ship on time. The ad says 5 hour duration with a 10:45 a.m. meet time. That means it would be over close to the ship's departure time of 4:00 p.m. local time. I sent an inquiry to Playa Mia and they said we would get back at 4:00 p.m. local time and we would be back to the ship before the final "all aboard time".

Not sure what that means, but I don't want to book anything that runs that close. Has anyone ever done this one with a 4:00 ship departure?

  2. I was one of the lucky ones that got the free cabin offer from the Players Club last month and booked our upcoming cruise. I just assumed it was because of the amount of $$$ I lost in the Magic Casino two years ago. I didn't realize that you accumulated points on the amount you gamble. How do you find out how you are rated for that "Drinks on Us" card. That sure would be nice to receive when we board the Triumph in May :D

  3. Get a map of the island and map out your own stops. Then rent your own jeeps which hold four, (or five if you squeeze three in the back), and make your own tour/stops at your liesure. Much cheaper and you're not at the mercy of a tour guide and schedule. We have done this three times and had a blast. We have stopped at Carlos & Charlies for drinks and parasailing, Rastas? for drinks and snacks, Coconuts for lunch and still had time to do some shopping in town. For the cost of one person for the guided tour, you can almost rent a Jeep for four.

  4. Hi. My name is John and I am a Carnival cruise-aholic. I'm taking the first step to admit my addiction. I understand that the disease is incurable, but it can be treated. Unfortunately, my next treatment won't be for 70 days. I'm counting on my fellow CC members to talk me through this. I really need some positive reassurance. :D

  5. When you remove the automatic gratuities your room steward may become angry. When your room steward becomes angry, he may think of ways to get even with you. When he thinks of ways to get even with you he may become creative. When he gets creative, he may see your toothbrush as a good thing to clean the toilet with. When you use your tooth brush that was used to clean the toilet, you get a potty mouth. Don't get a potty mouth, leave your prepaid/automatic tips alone :D !

I would never remove the automatic gratuities for fear that some mysterious malady may befall my ship, leaving it powerless and adrift at sea for days without hot food, running water and air conditioning.:D

  6. Same with us, I don't want to think about tipping each person. We do give more to our room attendant and I always add on a buck or two when getting a drink.

    Makes things much easier!

I thought I read somewhere that an automatic gratuity is added to a drink order. Is that true?

  7. Unfortunately, the Bar Hop is all booked up by time I got around to putting our reservations in for our upcoming cruise (leaving this Sunday from NOLA). Can any recommend an alternative that would give us a similar experience - the "other side" of the island, with some scenic / relaxing stops along the way? I see there are a few tour providers out there - not sure which ones are good/bad, and which might be able to give us something similar to the Bar Hop - we are really bummed that we're missing out on this.

    Thanks in advance!

We have rented jeeps and done our own bar hop/island tour around the island several times. You can pick out your own stops, bring your own snorkel gear, and cruise at your own leisure.

  8. I was wrong about the young couples' ages. These are friends of my youngest DD who will be on the cruise with us. I didn't get the full scoop earlier The young man is 24 and his GF is only 20. That is why they won't let them book. Do you think Carnival will let them book under my group? If not, and my WW and I have to split up to get another cabin, do you think Guest Services will give us any trouble changing our S&S/Room keys? I don't want to do anything that would put our cruise in jeopardy.

  9. We have 6 cabins booked for our upcoming cruise, and a younger couple wants to join our group and book a cabin. They are 24 and 23 years old and when they tried to book a cabin, they were told one of them had to be at least 25 years old. How can we get them booked on board this cruise?

  10. I got my free cabin offer through the Players Club. I had already booked a cruise that was included in the list of available sailings. I called and was able to keep my same booking and cabin for a $100 upgrade fee. I just received the refund to my credit card.

I just assumed I got the offer due to the amount of $$$ I lost in the casino on my last cruise
