I was on the Vision OTS 4 times when the ship was in Galveston. The ship was in great shape which I think represented the attitude of the captain. We had a great time on the Enchantment OTS but the ship needs a refurbishment.

We were on this ship May 31 through June 5th and experience same problem. Daughter was on 8th floor aft inside room and A/C was not cooling. Maintenance came to unplug the vent. They pulled a basketball size pile of stuff out of the vent after the 3rd day. They received a 25% cruise credit with the help of the Diamond Concierge. Guest services was slow to react. The ship is in need of some serious repairs.

Fog can be an issue from December to February, but if you're first off noon is doable from IAH. If you can arrange flight from Hobby it would be better. Other issues with debarkation are beyond your control as with any other port.

When?
Tonight
According to Ryno, decision was by made by hotel director which I assume came from corporate.
Concierge/Suite Lounge at 5pm had less than 10 people.

I am currently on Vision of the Seas , the concierge lounge is only suite and pinnacle and is empty. The Diamond Lounge has no seats available unless you get there early. According to Ryno , the D+ will be back in the concierge lounge.

I am on same cruise for August 26th and have left from Webster numerous times for cruises. Thirty minutes to cruise port is approximate drive time. Have your driver avoid Harborside and take I45 into town, turn on 22nd to cruise port(less traffic).
-
Take Broadway/45 to 22nd street. Turn left and takes you straight to the port. Avoid Harborside Drive if you can.

Cruised out of Galveston over 30 times with one delayed fog affected return. Travel is dependent on nice weather. If your concerned about bad weather affecting your choice or mode of travel, weather is the one thing you can't control or predict. Your on vacation, enjoy it, you could be working!

Cruizer2, the pictures show the diamond lounge patio still unfinished. Are they still working on the scrubbers? Is this an old or new picture? Thanks

I was on the Anthem two weeks ago and it was still a concierge lounge. Talking to Ricardo, he did not indicate a change in lounge status, but Royal Carribean can change their corporate mind at anytime.

We sailed Liberty February 28th cruise and weather was fantastic. Fog can be a problem in December and January. Weather will average in Galveston in the 60's and 70's but your first sea day will be in the 70's and 80's.

Most often I see the kids restriction on the letter in the stateroom that outlines the perks for Diamond and above.
On the Liberty of the Seas 2 weeks ago, the letter we received said well behaved children under 18 were welcome in the Diamond Lounge. Spoke to Anis(concierge) and he said children were welcome. My granddaughter visited the lounge after 7 most nights and the lounge was mostly empty. If we didn't use the lounge we were in the Olive and Twist.

Yes 22nd is the street that takes you straight in but it can backup at that light also. The police directing traffic seems to ignore the cars on 22nd so I would go one street over and come in the backside on Harborside. 22nd is the direct street in.
-
I never arrive in Galveston till noon, lets the previous cruiser traffic out. Next time take 45/Broadway and turn left to 21st street. This will take you right to the port and avoid harborside.

I am in a grand suite now. Chops for breakfast everyday and chops for lunch on sea days only. Rumor last night was this is last week for diamond plus in suite lounge. Who ever said the chairs are uncomfortable in the suite lounge is absolutely correct.

On the Brillance last week. Windjammer best option but is crowded and seating is limited. Take your food and walk to the back past Rita's Cantina where seating is outside.

I have always used the port of Galveston parking. Plenty of space and adequate shuttles. Only suggestion is drop luggage at cruise terminal and then park. Easier to get shuttle back to terminal.

I take I45 which is Broadway Ave all the way to 22nd Street. Turn left to the port on 22nd and this takes you to the terminal. You avoid all traffic on Harborside

Pictures make me hungry. I will be back on board in 4 weeks for some delicious Mexican food!!!
-
Wife and I were on February 9th cruise and ate at Sabors. It was really good Mexican food. You need to be very hungry.

Scooter, are you on the Navigator right now?
Wife is on Navigator. Captain told passengers not to vacate rooms. Nothing was said of an oil spill.

Captain says port opens at noon. Will be a long day!!

Was on the Serenade 3 weeks ago, they gave us a separate diamond card for entry to the Diamond Lounge. Sea pass card worked only for the concierge lounge.

Yes, deck 6 next to coffee shop and close to the windjammer. These are the two I remember.
