  1. New to NCL.  We were supposed to cruise this past March on the Pearl, Western Caribbean itinerary.

Looking at  the Jade ("club suite") or Breakaway "Large Balcony" next March.  We are a family of 3 (daughter will be 17 at the time of the cruise).

Which is your favourite? Pros? Cons?  Any info would be appreciated.

    Stay well everyone.

  2. Cruise was scheduled for March 15.  Cancelled water package, dining package and thermal suite passes on March 9.  Received refunds for water package and dining passes March 16.  Received refund for thermal suite passes today (April 2).  Cruise was cancelled March 15 under Peace of Mind March 13.  FCC email received March 19. Cruise next certificates were in account March 19 and FCC was in account around March 24.

    Thanks for the reply...

I made a note for myself to eventually check this again in the upcoming weeks (most likely months!) when things will hopefully quiet down.

It's like, can they get anything right?

Sorry for venting, I'm a bit frustrated with everything that is going on.

Yesterday, I had both CN certificates and FCC.  Like you and others here, today only the FCC credit is there.  Hopefully in the next couple of days both will be there again.  Thanks for pointing this out.  I took a break today from looking at cruises.

Good to hear they are extending expiration dates!

Was yours a Peace of Mind cancellation, or did NCL cancel your cruise?

And if they cancelled your cruise, can you tell us the sailing date of your cancelled cruise?

(Trying to figure out when they will get to my April 5 cruise)

Peace of mind cancellation...also please read my update with two different dates above

  5. My cruisenext certificates were put back on my account this evening, with an extended expiration date of December 31, 2022:) (originally they expired Feb 2021)

Update....this is strange...NCL app on my phone shows cruisenext valid from 2/12/17-12/31/22.  On laptop when I log in the cruisenext dates are different..2/18/2017 - 3/16/2021??.

My thinking is, we cancelled on March 16, so I have one year to book our cruise so that is why the date of March 16, 2021, but it still doesnt' account for the different dates.

Perhaps I'm missing something, but if they're giving you FCC for the CN Certificates, why would they also give you the CN certificates back?  Not trying to start an argument at all; I just want to understand if they begin cancelling June cruises (when I cruise).

    --Michael

My FCC did not include my CN certificates.  My FCC was my total paid minus my CN certificates, which should be returned to my account soon.

    Thanks for chiming in...!

We just received the other email, and THAT one is for the correct amount $1,832.41, which, times two, gives us $3,664.82. At this point I'm thinking someone actually typed the incorrect amount (incorrect $1,332.41 vs correct $1,832.41).

I won't be calling them now, because I don't need the extra aggravation (sheltering in place and watching CNBC is enough!), but I will call when this will, hopefully, die down.

Hope you can get yours sorted out too!

I think what has happened is one will be for 1832.41 and the other is correct at 1332.41 which is [1832.41-500 (for cruise next certificates, which hopefully will be returned to your account)=1332.41]

My emails were similar, one was not what I had expected, but when I subtracted the amount of our cruise next certificates, that is what was totalled.  I am now waiting for the cruisenext certificates to be added back to me account.  I hope this makes sense, it does in my head, lol

I went ahead and booked one of the forward facing cabins and the balcony is HUGE in comparison. We booked 9502 since it was 2 decks down from the bridge (instead of 10502 which is directly below the bridge windows). I think that will be nice - and certainly much quieter than the aft ones on 8 near Bliss...

Let us know how it works out.  I think you are on the same cruise as us.:)

There have been discussions here in the NCL forum about whether folks have heard noise from the Bliss Lounge.  You should try to search for them, or start a new thread, as you may not get many replies here to your new question buried in this thread, especially since your thread title doesn't call attention to that issue.

Any chance there are SFs available on Deck 10?

    Good luck!

Thanks for the search tip.  No SFs on Deck 10.

We were in one of these Cabins on the Jade for 2 weeks. If you normally sail in suites on the bigger NCL ships you will NOT like these cabins. They are very small and the arrangement is  poor. Our favorite cabin at sea is 12304 on the Breakaway. When we walked into this “suite” on the Jade we said this is the smallest suite ever. We vowed to never sail again  in this category on the GEM ships. IMPO it is not worth the money. Save your money and get a minisuite.

Thanks for the info. Other than the size of the cabin being a disappointment, were there any noise issues, if you were on deck 8 just above the Bliss lounge?

Has anyone stayed in any of the following Aft Penthouse suites recently? As with the OP, I too am concerned about the noise from Bliss and the bowling lanes on Deck 7 below. Can anyone confirm noise issues in rooms 8630, 8632, 8132, or 8130 on the Pearl?

I am looking at a trip next month on the Pearl and the available suites are down to about 3-4. (The other are Forward on the front of the ship, cost about $500 more, and I'm worried about them being too windy).

    Thanks,

    TF

I decided to stay in our mini-suite, instead of upgrading.  Got a nice on-board credit as well.  We will be on the Pearl next month as well.  March 15th cruising.

  12. Thanks everyone for your input.  The noise is what I suspected.  I was hoping someone who had stayed in one would prove me wrong, lol.  I thought it might be nice to try  the suite perks since it is really only approx $500 more than the mini-suite we have already booked, on a mock booking,  if they would allow me to pay the difference.  I don't want the experience ruined though if it is too noisey.  Won't be long now....March 15 western caribbean:)

I am contemplating this room on a future cruise. I found this YouTube video when I was doing some research

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YKaIW6MKbX8

Also - I found this out when doing a mock booking. If you choose 'Suite' on the initial booking you get one price. When I chose 'MiniSuite', it then offered me to 'upgrade' for 'X' $/day/pp and the total ended up being about $300ish less.

Thanks for the link.  Cabin looks great.  I am just wary of deck 8 above the Bliss lounge.  I think we might stay in our mini-suite which I carefully chose the location.

No. We were on deck 10.

We were up at the buffet when the food started sliding off the serving trays.

    Thanks....that must have been fun.

I am trying to find out more  info on Deck 8 aft penthouse suites re noise.  There are very few reviews....which makes me think does anyone book these, lol

We did three cruises in an aft penthouse on the Pearl and loved it. Toward the end of our Trans-Atlantic we caught the tail end of a Nor-Easter (as it was described) and at that time there was no place on the ship that was immune. My wife is susceptible to motion sickness and she was able to ride it out.

    Pete

Were any of those on deck 8?

Do you want them to book your Speciality dining? Or just information?

Mostly to decide what time to  book specialty dining.  If I know what shows there are then we can decide if we do a reservation that night and if so, what time.

So, never did make it to Le Mer. Kids said all of their friends whose families did said that you really have to like seafood to properly enjoy it. Just as well I didn’t go! Did not like the openness of a pay for restaurant. If you’re paying that much, passengers shouldn’t be walking through by your table.

THanks for the update. After looking at the menu and the info you have given, we decided on the steak house
