  1. We are testing pre-cruise as well, after receiving the email from Regent.

Please note: Regent Seven Seas Cruises will only assist with travel-related expenses related to any mandatory quarantine, that are not covered by their travel insurance, if the guest provides proof of a negative COVID-19 PCR or Antigen test result from a registered test provider taken within 72-hours of embarkation travel date.

Proof of negative COVID-19 PCR or Antigen test result taken within 72-hours of embarkation date must show guest name, guest date of birth, name of test provider, test provider’s contact details, test result and date the test was taken in order to be eligible.

I'm actually okay with them allowing that - if people want to get up that damn early, that's their business.  And if they're 'actively using' the lounger, that's their business as well.

I should have phrased better,  I also have no issue with folks using the chairs whenever they wish.  Dropping something on the chair and disappearing is another matter.

The CBC is reporting that because of covid-19 two Canadian travel insurance companies, Manulife and Tugo. are changing their cancellation rules for new policies.

The story is a bit vague, but the gist is that now travellers who are cancelling because of the virus issues, or changing flights for that reason., will not be covered.

Because it is a "known issue" the changes seemingly apply even before a Canadian Government advisory is issued.

TuGo's changes took place as of yesterday) Wednesday).

ManuLife will institute the alterations tomorrow (Friday)

From the latter, CFAR insurance will still be available.

Obviously travel professionals will know more about this, although the ManuLife memo has not yet been officially issued.

One expert expects other companies to follow suit to lessen their exposure to claims.

    For new policies, going forward.

Some people have recommended Motion Eaze, a liquid that you dribble behind your ears.

MotionEaze Sickness Relief, All-Natural Topical Liquid,

I have not tried it yet, but it looks promising.

Maybe someone here has used it and can comment about it.

I tried MotionEaze out of desperation on our last cruise and it worked for me. I am usually fine with Bonine but it was not working and was willing to try anything. I was very skeptical about the drops but they worked for me and are now in my travel bag!

  5. Ma, please, one of the oldest sites of civilization is in Mexico.

    Chichen Itza

    http://www.chichenitza.com

One of the 7 wonders of the World. But I guess that is not high enough on the list.

Don't tell me that seeing where the ancient Romans feeding the Christans to the Lions is the most interesting thing to do in an evening.

Chichen Itza would be a wonderful excursion but is not possible even with our overnight in Cozumel. We are now arriving at 12 noon and leaving the next day at 5.

  6. My question is slightly different from the subject discussed here but somewhat related.

We normally book our cruise in Can$ with a local TA.

However, when we sign the boarding documents (Express Pass) we check the box asking our expenses on the ship to be charged in US$ and let our credit card make the conversion in CAN$ rather than the box asking Celebrity to make the conversion in CAN$. Are we wrong? Our credit card charges 2.5% service fee for the conversion (in addition to the current rate, of course). How much is Celebrity charging?

Is that option affecting the cost of purchasing OBC from Celebrity, as discussed in this thread? Should we purchase in advance enough OBC to cover the cost of excursions, specialty restaurants and other on-board expenses we expect to make?

No, it has no bearing on the OBC purchases. We always let our credit card do the conversion as most of the time their rate is better than the cruiseline. We have no way of knowing what Celebrity will use for an exchange rate at the end of a cruise and I like to have an idea of the rate.

The OBC purchases are causing confusion because if you purchase online and you are on the Cdn site it will quote in Cdn dollars. This is fine if the cruise is also booked in Cdn funds. If you are booked in USD, even though the site shows 27.20 it will revert to USD on the credit card charge.

Hope this helps...just bought some more as the dollar is sinking..yikes
