    General comments:

Cruise showed very full but I noticed Royal suite, 2 Aqua Class rooms, & 1 OV open up very recently.

We were supposed to take this same cruise last year but we moved + my Mother became very ill and we had to cancel.  Since we elected cruise care insurance, this cruise is only costing us Sales Tax & Port fees.  BTW - this was the only time in the past 12 years that we ever purchased the Insurance. 🙂

  2. Best of luck on the rebooking.  I hope you make your cruise.

Our flight is Monday at 10:15a.m. on a discount carrier.  It is scheduled to arrive in FLL at 12:40p.m.  Fingers are crossed as it would be virtually impossible to pick up a reasonably priced flight to one of the islands later in the week.  In todays world, you just live with the risks.

    cheers

  3. I hope the sailing is going well.  Our last cruise was on the Liberty (in Dec 2022,) and we are on the May 1st Vision.  Thus, we are doing a delayed B2B.

I’m curious as to the food on this sailing.  The biggest disappointment we found during our last trip on the Liberty was the food.  We’re hoping that it is much better on the Vision as we are using the Vision for our “RCL Test Sailing” in regards to future cruises.

I liked CoCo Cay a lot.  I took on the BIG Waterslide and I can honestly say “the Waterslide won.”  No more BIG Waterslides for this 62 year old body.

    Have Fun,

    Michael

  4. A few years ago I ran into a similar problem with Virgin Airlines.  I had selected a bulkhead seat (in an exit row) 9 monthes in advance - AND PAID EXTRA.  Around the 3 month mark (before the flight,) Virgin removed me from the seat and reseated me in a middle seat in coach.  It was a very frustrating experience.  I called Virgin several times and they basically gave me the runaround.  They were not very helpful - and I sat very uncomfortably throughout the whole flight.  I literally spent hours and multiple phone calls in order to avoid this situation - but to no avail.

  5. I sent a request to the Sheraton Inner Harbor and the concierge was more than happy to accommodate our request.  Hence, We’ll spend 5 or 6 hours at the inner Harbor prior to going back to BWI.

by the way, I liked your “coffee or breakfast” suggestion and would have used it if they declined our request.

  6. Wife and I have an upcoming cruise on the Granduer of the Seas.  On our return, we have a 5:30p.m. flight back home.  I was thinking that we could get off the ship around 10a.m. And catch a cab to the inner harbor.  We could check our bags with a bellman in a major hotel then have lunch and walk around the harbor.  At the end of our visit (say. 3:00pm) we would retrieve our bags and catch a Uber to BWI   Thoughts on this ?   It’s been years since I’ve been to the Harbor and thought that we’d take in the sights.

  7. Do the “Crazy Prices” come down based on Supply and Demand ?  We are stopping in March and $84 for the water slides is twice what we paid in Costa Maya.

i should mention that we rented jet skis 9 years ago while in CoCo Cay and the price is about the same as in 2010.

  8. Greetings Everyone,

My wife and I are exploring the possibility of taking a late April 2020 Cruise on Celestyal from Pireaus (7 night very port intensive sailing) to Turkey and the Greek Islands. I have a few questions:

    1. Does anyone have general comments regarding Celestyal ? I'm keeping my expectations low and viewing this trip as more a place to eat and sleep....

    2. Is Pireaus an easy port to get to from Athens ? We were thinking about flying into Athens a day early, taking a 7 day sailing to Istanbul and the greek islands and then spending two additional days in Athens at the conclusion of the sailing. Does this sound reasonable?

    3. We have a choice of leaving any weekend in April. Is early April the best time or should we plan for late April?

Any help on the aforementioned would be greatly appreciated...

  9. I ran into the SAME issue earlier last year for a January cruise on the Eclipse. Apparently, the Moody Blues and other bands offered Celebrity more money than the deposits that they currently had - so Celebrity Chartered the sailing to the Moody Blues. Anyway, I had a great rate w/OBC and Celebrity would not honor this on another sailing. The representative was insistent that my wife and I had to travel on THEIR terms.

Anyway, I cancelled the booking and wrote a strong letter to the Better Business Bureau regarding my experience. Sure enough - once Celebrity found out that we were repeat customers (5 previous sailings) they stepped up and offered $500 off of any other sailing over the next year.

That was nice of them BUT they did inform us that until the ship sails they have the right to make other arrangements and or cancel a sailing.

I did learn a valuable lesson - make sure that you purchase your air through Celebrity as they will refund you if they cancel the sailing.

  10. Same thing happened to us last year going to FLL (for our Celebrity Cruise.) On our flight from RDU to FLL, our connection in Atlanta was cancelled due to mechanical issues. Fortunately, Delta was bale to get another plane within a reasonable amount of time - and we were able to make our cruise.

On the return, there were bad winds on the East Coast and our flight was cancelled. We ended up getting a hotel room at a local Best Western and were re-booked the following day.

SH*t happens. Anyway, lesson learned and we are planning to arrive a day early for our next cruise.

  11. We just stayed at the Hotel Canton. If you want a budget hotel near the Ramblas and walking distance to the port, this should be a good fit. Not fancy but clean and friendly. Family run.

    See Tripadviso:

We booked direct and got a very good price.

Thanks so much for your information.

I booked a double for my wife and I for this October and am saving 30+ Euro a Night and am close to the Port. We have been in Barcelona for one day in the past - so this recommendation is absolutely fabulous for us.

  12. Has anyone heard what will happen with the Equinox when it goes into dry dock this April?

My wife and I took the 2012 TA and will be taking the 2014 TA back from Barcelona.

  13. My wife and I just cancelled our NCL Card and applied for a Celebrity Cruise Card. We went to the Northeast on the Gem this past September. To be perfectly blunt, we felt that NCL is more in the line of Golden Corral. Nothing really special about the food or the service - just cheap.

Anyway, in fairness to Bank of America, they made the Cancellation quite easy. I was able to do this when activating my Celebrity Card.

  14. Back in 2010 my wife and I were on one of the follow-up noro-virus cruises from Celebrity. Well, we were enticed by the receipt of an additional 25 percent off a future cruise. Anyway, we took a 9 day Bahamas Cruise for $349 each + port charges from Baltimore - once again on the Celebrity Mercury.

Thus, we paid $798 plus we received an upgrade to Balcony for an additional $75. We received a $100 credit from Celebrity and a $50 credit from AAA. Hence our trip costed us $723 + port charges. Oh, we drove to Baltimore and stayed in the sleep inn for $72 and they gave us breakfast, r/t shuttle and free parking for the 9 days.

Although the first three days were cold, I celebrated my 50 th on Coco Cay going jet skiing for the first time in my life. :)

  15. I just booked my first NCl Cruise - which is the Gem going to Canada in September. Within a day or so of booking I applied for an NCL Mastercard whereby I would receive 15,000 bonus points once I charge two transactions. Lets say I spend $500 - $1000 over the next two months and had 16,000 points at the end of March.

My final payment for the sailing is due in mid June. What would be the best way to use my points?

There are so many posts it is hard to determine where to look. Thanks for your help..

  16. My wife and I returned from the 11/26/2012 on the Equinox. We went on a group rate for 14 nts. We paid $829 +tax each.

When the economy was bad, we took the Celebrity Mercury from Baltimore to the Bahamas in 12/2010 for $359 each for a 9 nt cruise. On board we paid an additional $75 for an upgrade to a Verandah.

Later this year we are looking at theCelebrity Solstice out of Encinada to Hawaii.

In 2015 it is our plan to take a TA from Barcelona back to the U.S.

    Cheers,

    Michael
