We will be in Iceland on a cruise in May and one of our stops is in Isafjordur. We have decided to rent a car in this city and head out for the day on our own. We did not get a 4 wheel drive and would like to stay along the coast and not head into any mountains.

We just have a couple of questions:

How far is the airport from the port?

Where all should we drive to?

What all should we see?

We are planning on staying in just the Westfjords area and we will have 10 hours in port.

Any suggestions ??????

The closest car hire would be in the arrivals hall at George Best (Belfast City) Airport. You could get a taxi from the dock to there in around 10-15 mins. There are also taxis at the front of the airport for going back to the dock.

As far as I know Enterprise will bring the car to you, this might be a possibility if they can bring the car to the dock. You could contact them to check?

This helps a lot. Now to decide...tour or go it on our own. We like to come and go as we please and not have to wait on others. :)

Thanks for your input. Good idea about skipping the gardens. I'm sure a Seattle trip is in our future and we can go when more is blooming. A nice downtown visit may be the best bet. Especially as we are not in town for very long.

Has anyone done a private tour to Butchart Gardens in Victoria? If so, who did you use?

Our ship is only docked from 7:00-2:00 and the scheduled tour companies only have 1 tour starting at noon as it's the off season in November.

Any ideas would be appreciated.

Thinking of booking a cruise on the Star. I'm looking at a larger balcony room on the Caribe deck but I saw a post that mentioned a lack of privacy on the balcony. Not sure what was meant by this.....can anyone please explain. Thanks

Thanks for the great review. We will be on the Allure 1 week from today! My mom is coming to our house to watch our dog while we are gone, I'll have her read your review while she is here and I'm sure she'll feel like she is traveling with us...heheheh :)

Did your son enjoy the cruise and did he go to the teen club at all? Our son will be 16 when we cruise the Allure. It was his idea to take this cruise but I'd like to make sure there is plenty of fun stuff for him to do too.
