  1. Hi lmasima752..I realize that your post is a year old, but you mention something that I am trying to figure out. We will be on the Divina soon for 10 days. I want to purchase one Streamer package and use it for my husband and I, 3 devices between the two of us. Is this possible? It sounds as if that is what you did. Do you just use one person's log in information? Thanks for any help or advice! We really just check emails, FB, text and play Solitaire.

  2. Hi,

General question does anyone know the (approx) departure time from Paris on the Paris-Normandy itinerary? Trying to plot day 1 with flight, luggage drop off & seeing friends.

    Thx

    Carole

We did the Paris - Normandy with AMA in April 2014. It was our first river cruise and just wonderful! If I remember correctly, they sail around 4 or 5, but you'll want to confirm that with AMA. We got stuck in a traffic nightmare in the city and were the last ones to embark, just before sailing!! And just before dinner...phew! AMA is a wonderful company.

We have sailed with them 3 times, and are planning our next one for 2017!

    Enjoy!!

  3. I just came back from a Tulip Time cruise on the AMA AMAPrima, and it was a terrific experience. Since Amsterdam is one of my favorite cities, I also stayed there for a couple of days after the cruise, and I stayed in Paris for 3 days prior to embarkation. Taking a train from Paris to Amsterdam is trivial and inexpensive, and it allows for a more rewarding vacation.

Here's the link to my photos of the trip:

Cruisingmad, your pictures are gorgeous! Thanks for sharing!! We are trying to decide between the tulip cruise or the Rhine for 2015, and I think you just helped me decide!! The cruise starts on 5/6/15, so I hope the weather will allow for some beautiful blooms!:)

  4. Carolyn,

So glad you chose Lamego! Can't wait to hear how you liked it! I just read the chat transcript and enjoyed the pictures you had included. Dinner at the winery was such a treat.

And I did forget to mention the AWESOME bus drivers...worth their weight in gold. The ride up to Sandeman isn't the only fun ride you will experience..lol!

Your posts are helping me to relive my time on the AmaVida, and it was only a short time ago!

We actually did the Future Cruise Booking while on board, and I am now deciding between the Rhine or the Tulips for 2015! It will be our 3rd AMA voyage. First (and first river cruise ever) was the Paris to Normandy schedule, also wonderful!!

Looking forward to your next post from the Douro!!:)

  5. We just left the AmaVida on 7/1, after a lovely week on the Douro! You are going to have a fabulous time! The ship is beautiful, clean, comfortable and the food and wine are terrific. The crew couldn't have been nicer or more accommodating! Loved everything about our cruise! Porto, Salamanca and Lamego were my favorite cities. In Lamego, be sure to find the courtyard at the cathedral when you have free time. Very pretty!!

My favorite thing that I bought was a cork purse. Portugal is one of the largest producers of cork. On one of the stops, at Castelo Rodrigo, the little shop has lots of cork items. We did bring home some port, but waited to purchase it at the duty free store in the airport. We've had bottles break in the luggage before, and wasn't going to chance it this time!

And the "tip" on tipping is a good one - you must pay in Euro, so be sure to visit an ATM along the way.

Have a fantastic time....can't wait to read your reports from the ship! Bom dia!

  6. CindyP1954, we are going on this cruise next March and I was wondering if you had a good time? and do you have any tips? It will be our first time in Paris, and our first river cruise. Tips from anyone else who have done this itinerary would be welcome too! Thanks :-)
