  1. I just logged onto a POM webcam.  All ships are docked (4;30 Miami time).  The camera zoomed in on roadway side of the terminals. . . what a mess. . . looks like people trying to debark and embark with 4 lanes of traffic trying to get into and out of the terminals.  Guess that's why I always pack an attitude of "acceptance" when traveling.  A lot worse things could have happened.                                                      54 days till I'll be down there with them!   Can't Wait!!  😉

port tampa web cam showed ships ARRIVING at port at 4pm . . . . 😮

I'm also watching them come in.  The fog must have hung on for a big part of the day!  We sail out of Tampa this Saturday.  Glad we're staying an additional day when we get back on Sunday.

Thank you everyone...I'll check with my pvp and see if the policy covers it...and if not...Have a back up plan if we can't get back in time.

Hmmm. . . That's a good question.  I think my backup plan is to stay on the Pride for 8 more days!  😁

See you guys in 4 days, 20 hours and 35 minutes.   Dave 😎

  4. I was able to print mine about 1:00 this afternoon.  I spoke with a Carnival technician around noon who told me they were still trying to figure out where it was broken.  They must have found the broken part. 😁   My brother spoke with a Carnival rep that told him they would email barcodes for everyone if it wasn't resolved.   Hey. . . whatever it takes to get me on the ship!! 😎

    10 days 16 hours 23 minutes.

  5. Yes. . . Can't wait!!  But I don't head to Tampa until the 5th. and getting on the the Pride on the 7th.   Just noticed you're from Chicagoland.  I live in Huntley and work in Belvidere.  Head to Milwaukee on the 4th. to avoid the O'Hare chaos!

    Have a great cruise!!

  6. Same printing problem here.  I was able to print my luggage tags a few days ago but had to wait for my brother to complete his travel info.  That done, I got the message that nfo was completed and was told to print my docs.  Tried all the same things as first poster but to no avail.  Called the website help number and was put on hold for a few seconds then got a recording saying "they are experiencing technical difficulties."  Even emailed my PVP to see if he knew of network problems on their end.  Glad to see Carnival is aware of the problem.  I'll try again tomorrow and keep checking back with Cruise Critics.  Dave 😎

I did the CVS Rapid test before my cruise in Sept. I went to the one that was close to the airport, maybe 15 mins away. Had no troubles. In and out within 30 mins(we had 3 of us). Got results within 1 hors via email.

Thanks for the info louisville fan.  Did you have your own rental car and go thru the drive up?  I will not have a vehicle and was wondering if a Uber would take me to the drive up window.

Thank you to anyone that has an answer.

  8. Very first cruise was 1999 on the Carnival Celebration out of N.O. Had booked an inside cabin. As we were checking in, I mentioned that it was our first cruise and asked if an upgrade was possible. They never answered but when we got to our cabin, it was an OV on the main deck! Still remember the cabin number. . . M80. :D

Got an email yesterday to go from an obstructed balcony on deck 5 to an extended balcony on deck 8 for $34. Not per person and not per day, but for the 7 day cruise! :p Of course I accepted!

  9. Just a few weeks ago, I booked a balcony GTY through my PVP for my 2/10/2018 sailing on the Miracle. This saved me around $100 because of a special promo Carnival had going. As most have said, I was prepared to be assigned an obstructed view location, and was fine with that. The Carnival website showed that all "favorable" balcony cabins were booked. Imagine my surprise when less than a week after booking I got my assigned cabin of an extended balcony on Deck 7. :D It goes to show that you just never know. Just be prepared to settle for the cheapest location and anything above that is icing on the cake! ;)

  10. I am interested in the answer to those question too. Will be on the Miracle for the Feb. 10 sailing. I was looking at some pictures and also did not see a big screen on the Lido deck. Of course what I'll miss mostly id no Guy's Burgers. :( I do think I will enjoy the serenity Deck that has been added since the last time I sailed her. ;) Regardless, I'll be on a cruise in the warm sunshine. Can't be all bad! :D

  11. Check out the "sticky" posted by Laura at the top of the forum. I was really hoping that we would get a micro chip inserted just under the skin. That would eliminate the possibility of losing your card. :D

But seriously, it's really no different than the "chip" on your new credit cards.

Still does not replace the fact that common sense needs to be used.

  12. First thing is to change into my speedo and start tanning........

    Brahahaha. . . That's hilarious!! Wished I'd have thought of that. :D

My routine has changed over time. First thing use to be to snatch an ashtray from one of the bars so I had it for my balcony. Now days, 2 things have changed. . . no smoking on the balcony plus I quit smoking about 9 months ago. :) Soooo, will get unpacked, get something to eat, (probably Guy's Burgers), scope out the ship while I take pictures and send them back home to the people that are still in the "frozen tundra". LOL Then find a nice place in the sun to people watch. You won't see me in a speedo, but hey. . . to each his own! LOL :D You're on vacation so live like you mean it!

  13. Wow. . .there have been so many employees that have gone above and beyond! But, I'm going to have to say that it was the lady that "checked us in" on our very first cruise. It 1999, our first cruise and we were sailing on the Celebration out of New Orleans. My wife at the time and I had a trying & stressful year with the kids so decided to splurge on a cruise. Our TA had told us to just ask for an upgrade when we got to the port and if any better cabins were available (we had book an inside) they would maybe help us out. So when I told the lady that checked us in what our TA had said, she just kind of looked at us and walked away to talk with another worker. She then came back with our keys (that was when they used the plastic cards with the holes in them) and told us to enjoy our cruise. As we boarded the ship we were directed to our cabin ( M-80 ) which was just off the lobby on the "main" deck. Imagine our surprise when we opened the door and saw it was an ocean view! :D This was days when there were very few balcony cabins. So having been upgraded to an ocean view was a big deal! We did hear later on during the cruise that the upgrade had caused some problems / confusion with on board staff. But it paid off because I am now at 15 or so cruises with Carnival. :)

  14. Here's the link to tripadvisor reviews of the resort. Check them out. You may see tips regarding upgrade and nearby food choices.

    Thanks,

I did that about 10 seconds after I found out what hotel I got. :D I hit Trip Advisor, Bidding for Travel, Better Bidding. etc. about every day when I'm in the planning stage. Was hoping that someone had been there recently. Found a post from 2014 that said you had to walk about a mile to catch the Sun Trolley but when I look at the Sun Trolley map, it appears that the Gault route goes right by the hotel. Hoping they have added a new route.

    Thanks again,

    Dave

  15. We just got the Pelican Grand Resort off Hotwire. Ft. Lauderdale Beach.

    Arrive 2/6/16 for 3 nights. $228.00 per night + $48.64 =$276.64 per night.

4 Star Amenities: Resort, Free Internet, Beachfront hotel, Self-serve laundry. I thought it might be the B Ocean Resort but am happy with this place. :) Reviews look good on Trip Advisor.

Looking for room selection advise if anyone has stayed there. I'm willing to pay a little up-charge for a better view. Also, places to eat within walking distance.

    Happy Cruising,

    Dave

  16. That is because you are sailing out of Miami on the day of the Miami Marathon and the hotel rooms, if you can find any are ridiculously over priced for that weekend.

No, We are sailing out of Ft. Lauderdale on the Conquest. I prefer Ft. Lauderdale over Miami because after over 10 cruises out of there, I kind of know my way around. Plus, there is always something to do and many places to eat. Up until last year, I never paided much more than $100 a night for a nice 3.5 or 4 star on either the beach or 17th. Street area. Last year I paid $150 (Horwire / Priceline). This year it's looking like $218 ++ for (I think) the Hyatt Pier 66 on Hotwire. Still not bad if you look at the rack pricing of the other hotels in the area.

    Dave :)

  17. Some people have too much money. :D

    Roz

We won't have too much money to spend after our 1st. B2B. LOL But, we only do one big vacation in the winter so we save up through out the year. Can't wait for Janurary to get here. (Not many Illinois people say that!) Spending 5 days in Ft. Lauderdale (2 pre & 3 post cruise) Hotels are considerably higher this year even on Hotwire. Oh well, I already told my kids that we are spending their inheritance. :D
