We just spent a day and a half in Rome pre-cruise and used "Tours by Locals" for three different tours. We booked with the same guide for all three tours and were very happy (7 people in our group-3 young adults and two upper 50s/early 60s couples. ) We did a Catacombs/Crypts tour, Rome by Night tour and a Colosseum/Forum Tour with Dino. He's become our gold standard for tour guides. He provided not only the historical facts but stories to help flesh out the places we visited. He had great reviews on the site which was why we contacted him. He was very personable and could relate to both age groups. Plus, he had a driver for the first two tours, which was a bonus for our group.

Does Tours by Locals also purchase your entrance tickets?

We had the most wonderful experience!  RomeInLimo is by far the best way to vacation if you plan to visit Italy!!! We had the 2 day package in Rome with our driver-guides Michele and Alberto and our Vatican guide Barbara.  They were absolutely amazing!!!! We have never had such knowledgeable guides…it’s the little details they told us that made us truly appreciate the sites, the people, and the culture.  They made us feel like family!! A huge thanks to them for making our trip in Rome memorable.
We then used RomeInLimo services in Florence/Pisa and also in Naples/Positano/Sorrento/Pompeii.  The experiences we had just got better and better!! Our guides provided so much about the history and culture.  Having the flexibility to customize our sightseeing was a huge plus! A huge thanks again to Laura! Our guides knew where the best pizzas and pastas were!
My family and I would like to thank RomeInLimo for the wonderful experience we had and we hope someday to do this again! We highly recommend RomeInLimo if you want to enjoy Italy to its fullest!!!!

For the RomeInLimo tours in Florence/Pisa, was the company picking you up at the cruise terminal?

Rome in Limo was amazing from start to finish.  Contact them via email and Jany will reply quickly with all the information you need. I had no trouble booking our tours and had complete confidence.  Our flight was delayed by almost 4 hours and still Piero from Rome in Limo was there waiting for us.  He toured us for 4 hours and dropped us at our hotel.  He was kind, efficient and extremely knowledgable.  It was wonderful.  The next day he picked us up and we toured for an hour or so before our Vatican tour. Barbara from Rome in Limo toured us through the Vatican and we saw and understood so much more than we would have on our own.  Then Piero drove us to Civitavecchia to join our cruise.  The car was immaculate and cool on a triple digit day. Piero had cold water ready for us.   I can recommend Rome in Limo without any reservation at all.  Just book them.

Thank you for mentioning the driver waited at the airport for your 4 hour delayed flight. Was looking to book RIL for an airport transfer with a Vatican tour on the way to the hotel and the website said they'd only wait 1 hour, then charge you as a 'no show.' Website also mentions you have to walk to the van pick up place. Do you recall? Is it a far walk?

  4. Thank you for your response. We'll have 3 days in Rome prior to our cruise and wish to use the 'skip the line' feature at the Coliseum. We also intend to use the metro system to get around town. We've used the metro/train system in Tokyo, S. Korea and live in the DC area, but those systems also display info in English. Figured preplanning tours and getting the Pass prior to departure would be a time and anxiety saver.

  5. Is it advisable to purchase the Roma Pass on-line prior to arriving in Rome or purchase them when we arrive? I'd like to have these passes already purchased but not sure if there's a particular way of activating them once we arrive. thanks.

  6. Finding the Coopculture ticket purchase page very confusing. When I hit the purchase tickets link it just takes you back to the page you were on. Also it says you can purchase tour tickets on-line, then it says you must call. I'd like 2 tickets with guide, for the Third Ring tour, preferably on 5 Oct early in the morning.

  7. We Are on the Holland America cruise set to sail on June 25th 2017. We have been informed our 'wait list' tours have been removed. Our original plan was:

    Juneau- glacier sea kayaking

Sitka- Sea Otter and Wildlife quest

Ketchikan- Magnificent Misty Fjords by Floatplane

Figured this would give us the land, sea, air experience. So now I'm starting from scratch with researching outside tours. Was looking for any recommendations for outside tour companies and/or other excursions at these ports. Figured I'd ask the experts.
