  1. The Prinsendam inside cabins are not functional for daytime use.

The bedroom area is TINY because the oversized bathroom and walk in closet occupy fully half the cabin square footage.

The cabins are uncomfortable, poorly configured, very dimly lit and really only useful as a place to sleep. All inside cabins are the same no matter which category or location on the ship.

There is absolutely nowhere to sit comfortably to read, relax, watch TV etc. The lighting is so poor that reading is impossible even with every light on in the cabin. They were unwilling/ unable to improve the lighting.

There is no desk, no table, no comfortable seating in the cabin. There is a small chair that is always in the way. Your room service tray will have to be placed on the bed and that is how you will eat.

The inside cabin experience was a HUGE disappointment on this ship. I am an experienced cruiser, having sailed with many different lines on many different ships. I have never had a worse cabin in the 50+ cruises I have been on.

I had the cabin to myself, having paid the single supplement. I can't imagine how 2 people could possibly manage.

I wish I had had an opportunity to read this review before I booked my inside cabin on the Prinsendam !!!!!!!

  2. Okay, I walked around the corner and scouted that area.

4032 has a crew stairway directly opposite the door and next door is storage, I presume for room stewards.

4034 has the fire door which folds into the wall directly opposite this doorway.

I have the matching crew stairway near me and yes you do occasionally hear it slamming, I notice it early in the morning.

Thank you so much for your helpful info. As a result of your scouting expedition, you and I now know more about the topic than anyone I spoke to at Cunard.

  3. I was actually wondering what the space is between 4032 and 4034 and similarly throughout the ship. I was told it is storage. I though it might be cart storage and noisy in the morning. Does anyone have firm info on this ?

  4. The NCL Epic will be sailing out of Florida to the Carribbean this year. Next year it will be in Europe also. Inaugural sailing is in a couple of months.

They have 128 solo cabins at a great price. They are all small, inside cabins but they did away with the single supplement. Maybe it will catch on. There is definitely a market.

I sail solo all the time and love it. I don't see any downside except the dreaded single supplement.

I will be on the Epic in a solo cabin when it sails on it's initial voyage in June (Southampton to New York). I will definitely report back when I return. I'm sure there will be lots of activity on the boards related to that sailing. It's a great concept. Good for NCL for pioneering solo options.....
