  1. Will be in suite on December 5 day cruise.  RCCL website indicates suite lunch amenity.  At the bottom it says something about the newer ships have new perks.  In threads here on CC, because I search first, it appears some ships yes some no.  Specifically about Enchantment does she have the amenity?  And if so is it available embarkation day?

    Thanks,

  2. Thanks for review and thoughts.  We are doing a B2B in January.  We were on. Vision in

March and I liked the smaller more low key ship.  But we’ve been on Liberty several times and like it too.

I was wondering if adults were allowed on the bungee trampoline.  I see by your pictures that they are.  Now I can move on to figuring out what the Vita course means around the walking track.

We’re in a suite and I kind of wanted Liberty because it seems to me, although I don’t know for sure, suite perks are “better” on Liberty then a smaller ship.

  3. Wondering about the coupons for Diamond status on a 4 night cruise.  We are are Vision in mid April and thinking about getting the internet package pre-sail.  However if we each get a free day, as on a 7 night voyage, we really wouldn't need to purchase internet at all.

This may have to wait until Vision has completed a sailing our of Galveston.  So if anyone on an upcoming March or early April voyage would be so kind as to answer once you have returned, or while on board, that would be lovely.

  4. My only Carnival cruise was last December out of Galveston.  I cruise Royal every year out of Galveston.  Twice in 2018 (well twice after cruise at the end of this month).  I will probably not go on another Carnival cruise.  It was not terrible by any stretch. Just not my scene.  More of a party atmosphere.  Lots of unsupervised children for first week of December.  I was struck by the volume of the music in the buffet and that it seemed to always be 80’s rock.  Even at breakfast. Overall I thought the food was a little better on Carnival.  Guy’s Burgers was really good.  I liked the Sea Day Brunch.

  5. Pretty bad. I found this link, and checked my bookings: http://themecruisefinder.com/CruiseAds/list/1

We'd be off that cruise by the first port, and not because of the bunny costumes, but because of the noise and disruption in the eating venues.

So the only "theme" on the link is gay people. It wouldn't have picked up 1300 presumably heterosexual men such as this cruise or any other theme or group that might possibly impact a cruise.

  6. We are longtime cruisers. Never been on an Olivia. We talk about it occasionally but since we go for the total relaxation it's more relaxing just to drive to Galveston than fly anywhere. It's maybe an hour drive so from home to being on the ship is two hours more or less.

Taking first Carnival this Monday 11/27 on the Valor. We usually go with RCI but this was late decision and there weren't balconies available on RCI. Plus we needed to be at home both Sundays so the midweek was all that worked.

  7. I tend to dress up a bit for "Tea Time" but many do not - there is a variety of ensembles! But do not miss it - delightful - you get lovely little finger sandwiches and many desserts you do not see elsewhere - the scones are wonderful. Sometimes I think I cruise for the scones at Tea Time.

We are on our first Carnival cruise this Monday. I was delighted to find out about tea time. I am hoping the scones are as good as on Princess. I wouldn't neccesarily go on a Princess just for the scones, but it helps!

Does anyone know if they serve scones in the buffet at the same time as tea time?

  8. We were on Island Alaska southbound a couple of weeks ago. I have never sailed IP before. Only previous experience with Princess was on Caribbean Princess 3 or 4 years ago. We were with another couple who's schedule dictated the sailing and land tour. Island Princess was really our only choice. Having said that, I don't disagree with some of the criticisms. I personally really prefer and utilize a deck that can be completely circled which IP does not have. Promenade has cabins and the sun or sports deck has the Sanctuary, plus you have to walk through the smoking area. The theater was super crowded several times and moderately crowded others. And I also like a place to get a light bite other than the buffet or room service. As we know IP does not have an IC. Was IP awful? No not at all. But having been on 15+ ships IP is near the bottom. As long as they have the scones in the buffet on the tea time afternoons it will never be the bottom ;)

  9. We are back. This was the highlight of the entire trip. A driver took us from the Lodge to the airstrip we waited about 5-10 minutes and here came a plane. Two people and the pilot got off, turns out the pilot and one of the passengers are the new owners they've owned Copper Valley air for years. A van took the two passengers somewhere to get another plane. We hopped in and off we went. Gorgeous scenery. Martin the pilot got us close enough to the Crystilin (?) mountains to look down on mountain goats! Day was mild, almost warm, when we left it was raining and colder in McCarthy. Wrangell took us into Kennecot to the St. Elias Alpine Guides office. There we met Johnny our guide and got fitted for crampons. We stopped at Kennecot Glacier Lodge and picked up the sack lunches I'd ordered the night before. One of our group has some mobility issues so we took it very slowly on the hike out to Root Glacier. In fact we took so long we had only 20-30 minutes on the glacier, but what time we had was fabulous. Still drizzly and cold but that just added to the atmosphere. One reason we only had a short time on the glacier was my desire to get to the 3:30 Historic Mill Tour. I really, really wanted to do that. We ended up catching it a few minutes after it started and two of us went through the entire rest of the tour. It was fascinating. St. Elias took us back to Wrangell. The flight back was even more spectacular. We got close enough to one of the old mine bunkhouses perched way up on the edge of a peak to see it pretty well. Called the lodge when we landed, driver was there in about 10 minutes. Fabulous, memorable day.

  10. Used Ketchikan Kayak Company in Ketchikan this week. There were only two of us and they didn't cancel the trip. Because they don't do large groups, I believe the limit is 8, they are able to make it more personalized. And you are on the water longer then the others. We saw some of the ship/larger groups zip by us and make their loop and get out.

  11. We used Dyea Dave last week. Had Cliff as guide. It was ok. Lots of picture stops. Too much information about what Cliff thinks of things (road workers, First Nations people, taxes, etc).

  12. Update: I called the lodge directly. We are leaving too early and arriving too late to use the shuttle that runs around Copper Center, which would have been an option. However for the same price per person, $5, there will be a driver and car to take and pick up. Yay. That was the last of the festering little worries. I am so stoked!
