  1. Thanks for all your posts and the Compasses. I noticed that both IFly and North Star were operating on Day 1. Can you just make a reservation and go? Were you able to reserve in advance or only once on board.   Are they still free?

I also saw on Day 2 that they had "extended" IFly and North Star with $$ next to them. Assume that the longer trips cost extra. Are they only having the paid, extended rides from 9-5 or on day 2?

Family is keen to try these out on our upcoming cruise and don't want to disappoint.

  2. Thanks for sharing this info. We are planning to get a thrill water park cabana for the family, one of whom is in an electric wheelchair. We have been told by RCI that the cabanas are accessible, fingers crossed. Switching to a beach wheelchair is not an option. It would be nice for everyone to spend the day together, enjoying the water slides and relaxing in the shade. Will report in after our cruise about the waterpark cabanas and with other accessible tips.

  3. We have purchased water park tickets for the 2 children in the group and for 2 adults. Can the other 2 adults In the family, one is in a wheelchair, enter the area and watch the fun? Is the area restricted to those who have tickets or are just the slides restricted? Can anyone recommend an area for the family to set up shop that combines the different activities— water parking and sitting by water chilling. Thanks

  5. we returned the car to the parking lot right outside the terminal where we had picked it up. Very easy. The Sixt people in the orange shirts were there to check us in. I also noticed that National and a couple of local car rentals were at the ship terminal to the left as you walked off the ship. You can compare prices, but Sixt worked for us.

  6. We just rented a car on March 5, 2015 from Avis (on line) with pick up at the pier.

I was nervous because of the posts above. But No Worries. We were upgraded. They were incredibly efficient and friendly. Cost for the day including insurance and tax: $80 for a car that accommodated 5. Great roads. We drove through the charming town and then out to the west. Dramatic scenery on the north side and flamingos and salt flats on the south west. A great way to see the island. Ask for directions to the gas station. We had a little trouble finding the one near the pier. It is across the road fro Denny's.

  7. We just got back from a cruise that stopped at St. Lucia and we rented a car.

No problem what so ever. We reserved a car, on line, from the company Sixt for $100 for the day including insurance, taxes, license. It accommodated 5 people including room for a wheelchair in the trunk. The Sixt people were right outside the terminal in a parking lot. Easy to find as they were dressed in Orange shirts. We were on the road in 15 minutes. You do have to drive on the left hand side of the road and the steering wheel is on the right. The roads were so much better than we expected. Yes they are twisty but in good repair. We only wanted to go to Soufriere and see the pitons and have lunch. No interest in sulphur pools or drive-through volcanoes. It did take 1 1/2 hour each way, but the scenery was quite beautiful. The whole trip lasted 5 hours. We stopped at the most wonderful place for lunch--the Ladera Resort. Perched on a hillside with a spectacular view of the Pitons. Not inexpensive but magical. It was on the map that we received from the car rental people and easy to find. You could also go to the beach resort at Jalousie if that is what you desire.

Yes you could get a driver to drive you around and a boat trip might be faster, but 2 in our group are over 85 so a boat was not an option. We like to do what we want on our own schedule and the rental car allowed us to have a perfect day in St. Lucia.
