  1. I shared a mini suite with my parents when I was in my late 20s and slept on the most uncomfortable sofa bed I have ever seen. But I did not complain at all. I never mentioned it once to my mom until many years later. Because it was a free trip to Alaska and I was not about to say one bad thing about it!! I had a fabulous time and if I were still single and childless I would do it again tomorrow. Though this time I know you can ask for a foam topper :)

I had no idea you can ask for a topper! My boys will be glad to hear this!

  2. We are booked in a mini suite with 4 adults next summer. My husband, myself and 2 young adult children. I was going to put them inside across the hall but the 3rd and 4th free was too good to pass up. We have sailed many times with 4 in a balcony cabin but this will be our first NCL trip! I kind of enjoy spending the extra time with my kids (they might not agree but they don’t complain about the free trip).

  3. We were there several years ago and for us it was also the only port I hadn't prearranged a tour. Half of our group didn't leave the ship but my husband, 2 of my kids and I walked out. There were pedi cab operators at the end of the dock and we went on a really nice tour of the city. We really didn't go in anywhere but it was a lot of fun to see the city and we were all glad we got off the ship!

  4. I was on a horseback riding excursion last summer and we all had to get on a scale. My son was once on a parasailing excursion and they did not let one of the guys go up even though he was on the boat. I know both of these are different circumstances and were safety factors especially for the horses but I would definitely check before I went there and was disappointed.

  5. I think the suites (even the ocean suites ) are significantly larger than the regular balcony rooms. The big difference for me is the dressing area which makes my cruise so much more pleasant (2 of my sons always stay in the room with us). It would be nice if there were extra perks but that would up the price :-)

  6. The one time we asked to have the divider opened it almost totally covered up our window and we immediately had it closed again. I don't remember which ship it was or where we were located (I know I'm not very helpful). But, when we asked the cabin steward did it right away - no problem at all. I may be wrong but I don't think it could be removed - I think it's on a hinge and it would be really difficult to get through the balcony door.

  7. I came to ask a similar question today - my parents will be in a cabin with my son who is turning platinum this cruise. My parents are gold and my Dad wants to buy the faster to the fun for himself and my Mom. Is there any reason for this purchase or will he get to board with the platinum guests (will have all on the boarding pass) and get priority tender and debarkation.... Thanks!

  8. I always book through a PVP at carnival. He always looks for the best prices and is just great! But, I had heard it was better to book through a TA for Celebrity so I tried that a couple of months ago. Her price ended up being about $300 higher for same category of room. She was doing nothing extra for me so I canceled with her and booked directly through Celebrity. I know I could have her price match but it wasn't worth it. I wanted to book through a TA to make things easier not more difficult.

  9. Check with carnival to see if they cover pre existing conditions. I have been told in the past that they don't. The outside companies will cover pre existing conditions if you purchase the insurance within a certain time period after you book the cruise. You can also add your flights to the outside insurance if you are flying. It's cheaper for us to buy via outside company but more expensive for my parents but they have more pre existing conditions..... So, I always buy outside.

  10. We had problems once and I couldn't figure out why. We were platinum and in a suite so there was no reason for them to be late. I had printed the tags on our laser printer so they were black and white (which the website says is ok) but from then on I used a color printer and have had no problems!

  11. We have taken our kids to the teas. I think they were around 10 when they started going. They find it kind of interesting. I don't think it's their favorite thing to do but they are always willing to go - and they are boys! Have fun!!

  12. As stated by others the regular hand sanitizers and wipes do not kill the noro virus. Do a google search for hand sanitizers and wipes that are more effective against the virus. I did this for our upcoming cruise and purchased them on amazon. Regular hand washing is best but it's nice to have the special hand sanitizer right before you eat and the special wipes to wipe down the room. I think I will also pick up a can of Lysol III in Fort Lauderdale before I board! As well as bring some Imodium just in case.....I would not discourage people from using the hand sanitizer provided by the ship - it's effective for some things - just not norovirus.
