  1. Yes picking an AI is a daunting task because there are so many to choose from and the reviews are all over the place for all of them. We went through that on our first visit to the Riviera Maya, finally narrowing down our destination to the Playa area and finally the gated community of Playacar and finally the Tucan/Quetzal. We've since stayed at several other chains including RIU, Dreams, and Secrets. We find the food and drinks to be a notch better at some of those resorts, like the RIU Palace in Cancun and Secrets Capri (adults only AI) just north of Playa. But none of them had the atmosphere and feel of the Tucan, and that's why we and others return there. It is a family resort, but as a couple we enjoy it there! You'll find reviews on tripadvisor of course. Another site that has even more reviews as well as photos and videos is the Iberostar Boards site -

Just scroll down to the Ibero Tucan

Loving this thread, even the posts from 10 years ago! ()

Anyone have experiences with Isla Mujeres Palace of Isla Mujeres in general? I'm all cruise, but wife wants a quieter laid back vacation. She keeps mentioning Cancun, but doesn't want giant resort that is crowded. Isla Mujeres seems almost perfect, and is close enough to still be 'cancun' (to her, lol)

I like the no-hassle of AI but still trying to determine if that is a waste of money at a resort. We stayed at an AI in St Thomas once and I love not worrying about food, but we do not drink alcohol... at all. So I felt like I was wasting money. Options??

  2. I found a funtimes for 2 weeks earlier. They were Jaylynn Bishop and Eddie Clark. I don't know how often they change.

Me neither, as the above poster said, I think it is pretty often.

    Was it Percy Crews?

No, googled him. I'm striking out finding my Funtimes. I know I saved them.

I'm randomly googling... I want to say his name was Tim. But I have no basis in fact for that guess. I have always been horrible with names.

  3. So how can I look that up? Struck out on carnival site, haven't had time to exhaust all possibilities but if someone knows a quicker way please let me know! I want to check out this guys other work, see if he's still doing cruise comedy, etc...

Dude was absolutely HILARIOUS! I ended up in front row, which made it SOOO much more enjoyable. Even though he was capping on me, and he had a good ol time with my DW as well.

I can't remember anything about him other than he is African American, prolly in his 40's, and funny as HELL!

    Carnival Breeze, May 19-25 2013

    Anyone?

  4. Crew members have a name they refer to passengers of a 6 day or less sailing. And I don't blame them one bit.

I could not wait for the 6 day passengers to disembark. Wish I could have mixed two 8 day sailings together instead of the 6 day with the 8 day. Will never do that again. Cruise on a 6 day or less sailing at your own risk.

    :)

So 6 night cruisers are inferior? Wow, stellar attitude to have there :D

I also LOVED my 6 night honeymoon cruise on the Breeze. Wish I had more time on Nassau (we slept in), I could do without Ochos Rios (white water rafting was awesome, zipline stunk), and we had a great time at Grand Cayman, but all they had was a Margarita-ville and a few shops.

I've done a 5 night, now a 6, I would definitely like to be on the ship[ longer, but the 6 was a perfect amount of time for me wife. She doesn't like being 'trapped' lol

  5. This is what I get when I click on your attachments:

  7. If you are referring to the Carnival ship it looks like a Fantasy class. It's very hard to make out the name but I'd guess at Elation. The second funnel is either photo-shopped or there is another ship behind it.

Fantasy class ships are, by today's standards, relatively small. Around 70,000 gross tons and 2,000 passengers.

I really thought it was a double funnel ship, lol. Your right though, looks like its just another ship behind it.
