  1. We parked at the port in August. We arrived about 10:00am. We did wait in a short line to drop off luggage with the porters then found plenty of parking in the garage. Hopped on the elevator and walked into the terminal. We are doing the same this Sunday.

We have also done the hotel/shuttle many times. In the past couple of years (even before the Oasis arrived) the shuttle lines to drop off passengers has been horrible!!

Each time we sat on the shuttle for at least 30-45 min before we could inch our way to unload. It appears they don’t have enough porters, so they are only able to allow one to two cars in at a time. Therefore the line moves slowly.

Just wish they would do something to ease the congestion!!

Can you just park and take your luggage over with you? Do cars going to park go through the shuttle lines? In Tampa, we park and walk with our luggage over to the porter area.

  2. I just had a quick question. It has been a long time since I've sailed out of Port Canaveral. My mom and dad were theRe last October. My son sailed last November. My mom said they had a 2 hour wait trying to get into the lot to get dropped off, and parking was a disaster. My son said it took 30 minutes, maybe 45 tops. When I was there, I remember it being really easy. We are trying to decide what to do...leave cars at the hotel and shuttle over, park at the port, drive over the day of, etc. Price of parking is not a deciding factor. We are on the Oasis at Thanksgiving. TIA

  3. I know I am going to get flamed for asking this question. There is a dispute among family members over whether SIL needs a passport. We are cruising from San Juan on RCI on a Southern Caribbean itinerary and back to San Juan. She is a U.S. citizen. SIL claims she only needs a DL. My DH, her brother, thinks she needs DL and BC (but wants her to get passport). She doesn't want to renew her passport right now (which has expired). What does she need? As an aside, I think she is being ridiculous and should just get her passport rened personally. Thanks.

  4. I know that y'all likely we not a part of this, but do you remember what part of the day that Santa made his appearance. We will be on the AOS this year for Christmas and will be in St. Maarten Christmas Day. We are looking a planning an excursion, but we don't want our DS 8 to miss Santa. We weren't sure when his meet and greet with the kids took place. If you could help, I would so appreciate it. BTW, I have had a few former students attend Clemson. I used to teach in Beaufort County in the Lowcountry.

  5. I just had a quick question. How has the Port been and RCCI in particular about taking soda on board the Allure? A student of my mom's said that when she cruised RCCI (am waiting to find out which port), RCCI was confiscating soda right and left. We are set to cruise in June, and I would really like to bring some with us. I was just a little curious. Is it better to check it than to carry it on? Is that maybe the problem? I know at Port Canaveral and in Tampa (DCL and CCL) we carried soda and water onto the ships. TIA.
