  1. I don't know how to make this offer this day and age of creepers galore, particularly on the internet; but I live in Orlando and go fishing out of Port Canaveral almost every saturday. If you want to try to line something up for me to run your crew down there I really wouldn't mind giving you a lift. I try to knock out a "pay it forward" gesture whenever I have the opportunity. I accept all forms of cases of beer as payment! Let me know if I can help you out.

  2. According to Google maps its 65 miles to Port Canaveral from sanford airport. I imagine that would be a pretty good dollar for a cab ride??

Yeah you're right, I just looked at it myself. I've never flown out of Sanford and didn't realize the airport was as far north as it was. OP, ignore my cab suggestion :o. Anyway...Travel Orlando Transportation is pretty reputable from airports and will probably be able to get you from the airport to Cocoa or the vicinity for <$100.

  3. it depends really on which ship. One ships great gives some nice comps like the fruit basket ,choc covered strawberries ,wine at dinner and some give you nothing (not even the free drink) It boggles me why the system is the way it is .

That brings me back to my original point; it's not so much the system as it is a lack of training with the casino staff. I have a hard time believing that Carnival has any problem with "recognizing" players with drinks, etc. However, I dont believe they've put the time/money/energy into making sure their casino hosts are trained to give the players a true "casino feel". It really shouldn't take a host too long to introduce themselves to someone playing $160 rolls on a craps table, much less expecting the player to introduce themselves.

Lastly, ship to ship wouldn't be an issue if training was in place. This would create a much more consistent message throughout the fleet.

  4. Again, if you introduce yourself right at the start, they will probably notice you. Cycling $2k/hour is pretty good. They just don't have a way to keep track of it in a measurable way.

Yes, this is not a land based casino. On that scale they are a tiny basement operation. Of course that does have it's appeal.

I'm not trying to argue, I'm just a sucker for a good conversation, so let me know if this gets a bit redundant...

I may be wrong on this, but isn't their casino operated by a much bigger land based outfit? Even if it is not, between all the lines under the Carnival umbrella (and I'm fairly confident they all use the same operating company) there is some major money exchanging hands in their casinos. Seems like they'd be capable of recognizing and rewarding players if they had any real interest in doing so.

  5. Unless you make a huge impression (like winning really big, tens of thousands of dollars) you will not get any real recognition.

It shouldn't stop you from introducing yourself to the Casino Host right at the start.

However they don't give points for craps.

Thanks for the advice. This to me is a sign of a poor program, or poor training of the casino host. There's not a land based casino on the planet that will watch a player cycle $2k/hour and not at least acknowledge the player. I'm not dying for a free drink, as I probably shouldn't be gambling if I am, it's just a bizarre set of circumstances.

  6. Sounds like there are some pretty seasoned carnival casino gamblers in here, so i'm going to half thread jack (sorry OP!). I typically spend 3-4 hours per night at the craps table, playing $20 rolls and 3x times odds. In any land based casino, this typically gets me comps of some variety from the casino. It seems that Carnival doesn't really reward, or even recognize, table players. Am I under the correct assumption or does anyone have some better insight? Feel like I should have at least had a few drinks sent my way by now. If not, no biggy, you'll still find me at the craps table every night :D
