  1. Do yourself a favor and wait another year before you cruise. Everyone will enjoy it more if your child is a little older. Whenever you decide to cruise, I would suggest that you consider one of the Disney cruises. Disney is a far better choice for young kids.

Sorry, have to disagree with this...

... we cruised with DS, last June, at 17 months old and he had a BALL! We did Oasis out of Fort Lauderdale (after flying in from the UK). He is a brilliant traveller and there is SO MUCH for them to do on Royal Caribbean (or at least the Oasis).

You just need to be very organised and bring plenty of nappies, wipes, familiar snacks etc...

We didn't use the nursery service, but did take the in-laws along for some free time. I actually think that cruising is a very "easy" type of vacation to take with an infant. However, we did have to "modify" our expectations of what a cruise vacation would be: that didn't matter, though, we got to see it through "fresh eyes".

Pack and Play worked well, but we were in an OS and it fitted easily next to the bed.

We are cruising Oasis again in September (DS will be 2.5 years old) and are really looking forward to it. No in-laws this time - just the 3 of us.

  2. Don't believe that a rool-away is going to fit between the bed and window in either of those cabins...in a GS they usually set the roll-away up in the bar area that is tiled by the closets.

    Thank you. :)

I assume that a rollaway isn't much bigger than a pack and play (width wise) and was hoping it might fit like the pack and play did (at least in an OS...

Tiles aera wouldn't be great - right opposite the bathroom door (so noise/light/disturbance) and if Jnr rolls out of bed, quite a hard landing. ALthough I am guessing that we could probably put it somewhere else.

Do you know if GSs have a sofa bed?

  3. Last cruise we were on Oasis and sailed in an Owners Suite. Jnr was 17 months old and slept in a crib (or "Pack and Play") between the window and the bed in the bedroom part of the suite.

This time we are looking to save some pennies and sale in a Grand Suite. Jnr is nolomnger in a crib (2 years and 3 months old now and we plane to cruise in 4 months). Does anyone have experience of a rollaway bed in a Grand Suite or in an Owners Suite? Could you fit the rollaway between the bed and the window?

I appreciate that we could/should have a rollaway (or use a sofabed?) in the living room area, but are hoping that we could put Jnr in the bedroom area, so that we wont disturb him after his bedtime (by going to the bathroom etc).

    Thanks

  4. A friend of mine (I'll call her "S", she was about 22 at the time) had a friend and her friend's boyfriend to stay over one night. They all slept in S's room: S on her single bed, the friend and boyfriend on the floor beside the bed (a couple of foot away - not far at all). S told me, afterwards, that she woke up in the middle of the night to realise that the other two were having sex on her floor a couple of feet away. She was completely shocked and disgusted by it - but she didn't say anything at the time (too embarrassed) and I don't think she said anything afterwards... think it didn't do much for the friendship though!

Ok it wasn't her parents, but you get the drift...

I agree with other posters advice - I certainly wouldn't consider it acceptable to do such things in the same room as my children...

For a VERY young child (baby/toddler), might do something quick/quiet in the locked bathroom after they have fallen asleep in the bedroom. Anything older, would stick them in kids club or something out of the way. After a certain age, would probably put them in a connecting cabin, anyway (taking care to lock the door! :) ).
