  1. We absolutely loved the Lamanai excursion (including river cruise). See my review under the Excursion Reviews for Belize here: http://www.cruisecritic.com/memberreviews/shore-excursions/excursion/3603#25705.

We spoke with others who did the Altun Ha on our Princess cruise and they said it was "okay". We chose Lamanai after reading reviews of both and found there were many, many exceptional reviews for Lamanai excursion, and we agree! We were glad we chose this excursion. It is a full day, with no time for shopping. Check out all the Belize excursion reviews to get more information.

  2. We just returned from a Caribbean Princess cruise. We flew in late the night before on Southwest into Hobby, so we decided to stay close to the airport. We stayed at the Hobby Airport Marriott and they had a free shuttle from the airport to the hotel. The Marriott was nice and had excellent customer service. The next morning we got picked up at 10:30 by a towncar ($70 for 3 of us to Bayport Cruise Terminal), and we were on the ship by noon. For our return we decided to do the Princess Transfers in case we were late due to fog, so we wouldn't have to call anybody to reschedule, etc. There was no fog delay for our cruise and we were off the ship and on the shuttle by 9:15. We were at the airport by 10:15.

Not sure if question about baggage is for Galveston or Bayport, but at Bayport we carried on our rolling luggage (typical size that you can carry onto a flight and put in overhead bin), and checked-in our larger bags. We had no problem with this. This allowed us to have dinner clothes, toiletries, etc. in case delivery of our bags was delayed.

  3. We used ExecuCar (towncar service, but they may have limo also) from Hobby to Bayport (Princess Terminal). Our driver mentioned they service Galveston also. We called when they were not there at the appointed time and we were told he was running late and should have called us. He arrived about 20 minutes late. In addition to being late, he did not help with luggage (we loaded it ourself). He picked us up in an Escalade and it was $70 for 3 of us to Bayport from the Marriott at Hobby Airport. Reserving was easy on-line. We choose to do the Princess Transfer upon our return since we had heard the boat can be delayed due to fog, etc. and that worked fine back to Hobby ($23pp).
