  1. If everyone bought at exactly the right time of everything - if you are happy with your investments then that's all there is.

Like I said I own both... anything that can hit 20%+ ROI I'll buy, make some money and sell.

And as we talk about this the worst day for the market in 2017 happens...

  2. Hasn't Royal and NCL pretty much slaughtered CCL's stock over the last few years?

I also carry RCL stock but not as much as CCL. I cruise more on Carnival and so we get more OBC credit as a bonus to the stock performance.

If you look at the last two years - No - CCL has outperformed both RCL and NCL.

    CCL is up 26.1%

RCL is up 24.2% (just hit intra-day high for the year this week as well)

NCL is down 4.4% and is down over 9% from the 52-week high

If you add in the dividend yields -

CCL has an average 2.5% yield ever since 2012.

RCL has a 1.8% yield since 2012 and has never reached a 3% yield like CCL has.

NCL doesn't pay out dividends so there's that to account for as well.

  3. Agreed with @Qchell - Alchemy is great - Ignore the menu though for the most part...

Ask them to make something - they'll ask a few questions - what do you like as a base (vodka, whiskey, etc.) and savory or sweet preference.

    Then they'll create something great!

Or just say surprise me - If you don't like it they'll know and take it back and make you something else (at least on Cheers!)

Now I want to cruise... have to wait until November though - UGH!

  4. I posted this in the private tour thread but I just received this email and thought I would share. Not sure when this happened but I know there have been many (including myself) hoping to book a tour with him.

"Good day this is actually Shakir Jennings. I am the son of Colin Jennings. I'm sorry to inform u that he is passed away, but I can refer u to another driver that would be able to accommodate your group"

Seems like he made an impact on all of those in the Cruise Critic family who have toured with him.

  5. For those who have been looking at Colin Jennings I just received the following email from his son....

"Good day this is actually Shakir Jennings. I am the son of Colin Jennings. I'm sorry to inform u that he is passed away, but I can refer u to another driver that would be able to accommodate your group"

We never had a chance to tour with Colin but it seems like he made an impact in those who had this experience.

  6. We are on the 9/20 sailing also!! Can't wait!... I heard as well the American Table was pushed back to our thanksgiving. I was looking forward to seeing the new menu and change in style. But the old menus will do just fine... Guess I'll just have to book another cruise![emoji6]

  7. "Social Media" mentioned it but had no further details (and no one there could elaborate)? Perhaps avoiding the source of incomplete information is a better choice than trotting over here to validate the gossip over there.

Wow! Relax a little! ... They saw something and that is why they are asking others for confirmation...

To the OP I saw the post as well. It appears from what the people on the ship were saying is that it should be complete this week. We sail this upcoming Sunday! I will let you know if it's not completed by our sailing.

  8. We booked this for an upcoming September cruise on the pride (Not sure if there is more than one but we did the one attached/related to Fat Tuesday's) it was pretty simple to book and other posts on CC were positive.

  9. recently came back from a New England/ canada cruise with our 2 year old. She had a great time since yours is a little older you will have more options of the kids activities on board which im sure they will like. It was definitely an older crowd on the ship I think partly due to itinerary and partly because we left early September so most kids had just started school. 95% of the people on the ship we super friendly towards are daughter and talked to her in the elevators and such but then you have the select few who I would hear making comments about bringing kids on cruises and how they were loud or disruptive. It would make me mad because our daughter for the most part was well behaved. We watch closely after her but she is 2 and she has her moments. If she started crying or misbehaving we would always get up and leave or do something to not disrupt people. It frustrated me at times because we paid just as much as they did and had every right to have her enjoy the cruise. One day the pool was shut down and some lady was walking by and said right in front of us " it better be open tomorrow I hope it wasn't one of these kids in diapers that made it close" . And even though I know we didn't take our daughter in pool it just made me mad cause I knew she said it in front of me so I could hear it. But with that being said I say go for it! Your child will have a blast the crew goes out of their way to help with the kids and their are plenty of activities to do both in port and on the ships!

  10. i love all the great feedback! we will be cruising with our almost 13 month old this Friday and are looking forward to giving it a shot. our little ones loves playing a the library when we take her for storytime so hopefully she will love this just the same!.. we will comment when we return.

  11. I was looking at the Jan 15 2012 on the valor and it would be a little over $300 more compared to a standard OV.

And it turns out to be the same price as a premium balcony on that cruise. Not sure if I would go floor to ceiling over a premium balcony.

Great room though. It would be great to wake up and stare out in the ocean/ports from almost right in front of the bed.
