  1. Vista Suite should allow you to order from the MDR menu to be delivered to the room. On debarkation day, I made sure the steward understood I would be using this perk for EVERY meal. He didn't appear overly pleased about it but I told him I wanted the MDR menus on time, every time. Then, I slipped him a C note and he was all smiles. MDR menus were always there on time! Ate one meal in the MDR the whole cruise. So relaxing to dine in the room. Let me know if you need pics of D736.

Thank you - yes any pics would be great.

  2. I really hope it is smooth, as I would love to get some water skiing in behind the ship each day.

Do the behind the scenes tour. Sign up as soon as you get onboard. It should be a requirement for every first time cruiser to take that tour as your would appreciate what the ship staff goes through to make your cruise safe, fun and to feed everyone.

As for weather layering with a good rain jacket is the way to go. The impact of the weather on you is only a poor choice of clothing.

See you at the meet and greet.

Thank you - look forward to watching the skiing!!

  3. Go to the Roll Call for Crown Princess. There is a very active thread and a lot of your questions can be answered there. We are also on that cruise and you can sign up for the Meet & Greet to meet other fellow passengers. If you want to do the Chef's Table, sign up immediately upon boarding because they fill up quickly. You can call the Dine Line to do that.

The weather can be chilly in Iceland. I suggest bringing clothes you can layer. And you can order afternoon tea in a suite. They bring it from the kitchen.

    See you on board!

    Thank you!

  4. Full Suites get Breakfast at Sabatini's. It is a special breakfast for full suite passengers only. For other meals you have the option of Club Class dining. This is a special section of the DR where you can walk in anytime you like.

On the Crown suggest you attend the show "Magic to Do." It is a musical show just under one hour long produced by Steven Swartz. If you attend the 8pm show arrive at least 30 mins early. For the 10pm show you may be able to arrive a little later, but don't walk in the last min.

Every evening in Crooner's there will be a piano/singer entertainer usually starting at 9pm. It is a very popular location.

If you decide to sign up for the Chef's Table suggest you bring along closed toe shoes. My understanding is that you are not permitted in the operating galley with open toe shoes.

Like wine? Try Vines in the Piazza.

Full suite passengers can order room service from the full menu. Just ask.

Like espresso drinks? Consider the Cafe Select Card. You can look this up in your cruise personlizer.

    Thanks a lot - much appreciated - can't wait!!

  5. See notes in red. We were on the Crown Princess for 31 days last winter. I enthusiastically concur with Trak's recommendation to visit Adagio's - that was our go to location for pre-dinner drinks. Also don't miss out on the breakfast for full suite passengers only in Sabatinis. It's a wonderful way to start the day! I also recommend the Ultimate Ship Tour and the Chef's Table. Just do a search on those topics to get more information.

Thank you so much for all your help - will certainly be looking into your recommendations.

  6. We are new to Princess having only cruised on Celebrity and are doing a 15 day transatlantic cruise in two weeks time and wondered if anyone had any tips or information that would help us. What is the weather normally like mid Atlantic in September? We are in a Vista suite - any information - does the steward do anything extra for us as it's a suite? If we want afternoon tea in our suite does he bring it? We would like to do the galley tour - how do we arrange that? Has anyone done this cruise in the past and able to tell us anything that could help us. Sorry about all the questions but would be grateful for any help.

  7. My husband and I booked really early on a cruise from Southampton to New York for September 2017 on Crown Princess as it is a special anniversary and we wanted to make sure we got the room we liked. We have never cruised with Princess before - twice with Celebrity but this cruise had the itinerary that we really liked. We didn't get any promotions when we booked. In July we noticed the promotion offering on board credit for our cruise. Does anyone know if we have any chance of getting any of this having booked before the offer date. We booked through a Travel Agent - would they have more chance of getting this for us. Does it make any difference what grade of cabin you book - we have booked a Vista Suite. Would be grateful for anyone's previous experience on this situation.

  8. We are thinking of doing a Panama Canal on Holland America - on Westerdam and wondered if anyone could answer a few questions. Considering an aft Neptune Suite - is this a good position on a Panama Canal cruise. What extras do you get for this? Also do you get free tea coffee and juice in the buffet all day? Is there free soft serve ice cream served and if so at what times? Do they serve afternoon tea (scones and cream!) in the Lido? We have cruise Celebrity before and want to compare the two. Many thanks for anyone who can help.

  9. We are just back from cruise on Celebrity Silhouette and they do a galley tour on one of the sea days. Is was advertised in the daily paper and you just turn up at the specified time in the main dining room. There were a lot of people but it was organised so well. Everyone as they arrived were given a numbered sticker. First of all they introduce all the chefs for the different sections and then start a questions and answers with the audience and whilst this is going on they start calling out a number and all the people with that number, about 12, are taken by one of the chefs on their galley tour. They space them by a few minutes and gradually everyone is taken by one of the chefs on their tour. We had the pastry chef who was very informative and explained all the sections as we walked around and you could ask any questions. Really enjoyed it. After they have a showing of some food from the speciality restaurants for you to see (basically wanting you to book) but no hard sell.

  10. Thank you for your review. We are on the Silhouette in September Rome to Venice and your review was very helpful. Very objective. Appalled by some people's behaviour!!

Our first time on Silhouette and we are very excited - hope we won't be disappointed - have only been on one cruise before and that was the Summit and believe the Silhouette is a big improvement - but we had no complaints on the Summit.

  11. We will be on the Silhouette in September and intend to do Mykonos on our own. We are tendered in I think but have read it is quite a walk to the town. What transport would be available and at what cost and frequency to get you there and back of course. I did read somewhere that there was a water bus that took you very near the town - anyone know the details please? Also would be glad of any advice as to what there is to see and how long this would take comfortably to walk.

    Many thanks for any help.

  12. We are going on Silhouette in an aft cabin sky suite in September to Eastern Med and Greek Isles and wondered if anyone had done this cruise last year and could tell me if the waters are calm in that area at that time of year and if they found the aft less stable than the rest of the ship. Also if they had a problem with soot or being too hot.

    Many thanks for any replies.

  13. Can anyone tell me if it is right that you have to book your table for select dining on the Silhouette unless you intend to dine after 8pm. We were on the Summit last year and just turned up and sometimes might have to wait up to 15mins but other times were seated immediately.

  14. We are going on Silhouette in September on the Eastern Med and Greek Isles cruise and are trying to decide whether to do the ship's port tours or arrange our own. Can anyone who has been on this cruise or been on Silhouette give any tips or advice. Does the ship give out any maps or information on ports in advance whilst on board.
