Hope someone who has recently been on Princess and did debarkation in LA can let me know approx. debarkation times. We will be doing the trans canal in November
and I want to schedule a shuttle pickup. We will be on the Dolphin deck if that helps. TIA

Cleaning is not quite dry cleaning but it is a similar process that is a bit more environmentally friendly and safer to implement in a marine environment. Laundry is like at home only they use very hot water for everything.

It's too bad they always use hot water. Guess I will be washing the more delicate items in the self laundry. Makes me appreciate Holland America even more....$9-10/day for unlimited laundry and they pay attention to heat levels requested. (The cost is per duration of the cruise, but well worth it).

The Princess site says there is a Salty Dog Gastro Pub on board, but I can't find it on the deck plans. Do you know where it is located??

quick question, which nights were formal nights? I figure first full day at sea would be the first

We are in a balcony room on Deck 7. Are there mini refrigerators in the room? One site says yes, one says no.
Would appreciate knowing if I need to bring a collapsible ice chest.

Signed up for the Meet and Greet. Hope I find out if it is being held. The Meet and Greet site had my email wrong and would not let me correct it. If they use the email for my cruise confirmation, I will get the info.

One 750 ml bottle per adult in carry on and a 12 pack of soda CANS

ON Holland and Princess, if you bring more than the one bottle of wine, they just charge you the corkage at time of boarding for the additional ones, is this the same for Carnival....or are you really limited to one bottle?

Keep checking back. Last time I booked them way ahead of time I continued checking the Hilton site at least once a month. Was able to book for $59 less. Just be sure if you do, you book the new price before cancelling your original reservation. (Do this all the time for rental cars too).
-
I also have prebooked (for Jan.). On my last trip out of Ft. Lauderdale I prebooked months in advance, but checked back at least once a month and was able to rebook for $50 less per night (I am a Hilton Member. If you do this, just be sure to book the new price before cancelling the original booking.)

No, November 1.

Taking the Calif coastal round trip from LA. Does anyone know which nights are the formal nights (2)? Days 2 and 4 are sea days, would make sense if these were the formal nights. We depart Santa Barbara and San Diego at 6pm so they are also possibilities.

Don't know the date of your cruise. We are going on the Ruby Princess Nov. 1. A month or so ago they said we would embark at pier 46, but has recently been changed to Pier 93 for both embarkation and debarkation.

Just booked an inside for a 3 day cruise. First time getting inside cabin. Are their hair dryers? or should I bring my own?

Fort Lauderdale is so easy to do on your own that we never consider HAL hotels and transfers there. The only time we bother with HAL assistance is in Europe where we are in very unfamiliar surroundings.
Any of the hotels along the 17th Street Causeway area are good choices if you are looking for a pre cruise hotel that has restaurants and a Publix grocery store nearby. They are all just a stone's throw from the port entrance.
We generally stay at the Embassy Suites and, although they try their best to direct us into their shuttle to the ship, we insist on using a taxi. Their shuttle full of people is seven or eight dollars pp and a taxi is only fifteen dollars +/- plus tip. The taxi is a much more relaxing way to arrive.
If there is more than one person, the taxi is actually cheaper than the shuttle. Also, the shuttle waits around until it is full.

Now that the corkage thing seems to be settled, I was wondering....
Just out of curiosity, if you take your own wine on the ship, what do you bring?
There are no wrong answers and please don't be disrespectful of someone else's choices. Wine is highly personal.
Depending on how much my luggage weighs before adding a bottle of wine, if I can I will bring the two wonderful reds I got in Napa last fall. (They will only be in the luggage for our flights, in carryon for the ship). I will augment these with 2 or three bottles from Total Wine (probably "the Fugitive" and/or "G3". We have a ten day cruise and going with friends.

Just printed my docs for end of Feb cruise on the Noordam 10 day Southern Caribbean. Noticed they have decreased formal nights from 3 days to 2. Anyone on a recent cruise know which days are now formal?? I'm guessing they dropped the Half Moon Cay night and are keeping the sea day nights.

The evening you are at HMC since you leave there early and the next day you are at Grand Turk and leave there later at 6 PM.
The next formal evening is Day 4 -- At Sea. And the final formal evening is Day 8 -- At Sea.
Thanks, that is what they were earlier this year

Will be doing this trip the end of Feb. Would appreciate any of you who have recently done this, or doing it soon to post which days are formal days. Trying to figure out which night(s) to book the specialty restaurant. Earlier this year formal nights were 1-night of Half Moon Bay, 1st Sea day and Sea day following Aruba.

Will be cruising onboard Eurodam from Stockholm in summer 2014. Will be arriving at Svenska airport. Does anyone know how to make the transfer from airport to cruiseline? Thanks.
Go to "flybussarna" on the internet. There are airport to Stockholm transfers listed there (good if you don't have a lot of luggage, i.e. > 2-3/per person) You know what you can handle.
A taxi will cost about $196, Flybuss is about $21 one way per person, or $38 round trip per person.
We used it in Stockholm and it is like any other airport transport bus in US.
They give you price in SEK-Swedish Krona. You can buy online or at airport, if at airport be sure to have Krona (we get it from our bank here in US)
I think it will drop you off at train terminal, a taxi from there to cruise terminal would be a lot less expensive than one from the airport.

We would like to have dinner at one or both of these on our 15 day cruise next month. Do you need to make reservations for dinner?
If so, how far ahead?
Thanx
