  1. Solo passengers don't have to follow occupancy restrictions as it wouldn't be fair since Carnival doesn't have single cabins.

I wish I'd known that I didn't have to follow occupancy restrictions when I made my reservation. I would have informed my cruise counselor of that after he denied my request. I also really wish that the Carnival counselors had updated information and be informed of exactly what rules passengers had to follow and which ones they didn't before denying a request.

  2. There are 3 types of Cruise Cash -- Bar, Photo and just Cruise Cash which can be used for anything on board. All are "use it or lose it."

My bad, was focused on bar and photo cruise cash, forgot about the third one.

  3. The way I understand it, cruise cash is only used for bar and photo purchases. You can not withdraw any cash from those accounts, and if you don't use it all, you lose it. Your Sign & Sale card is used for any purchases on board so you don't need cash while on the ship. The way I did it is I bought some Carnival gift cards in various dollar amounts. You don't have to use them all at once, so I can either load those onto my sign & sail account as I need them, or at the end of the cruise, I can use them to pay down/off my sign & sail account. You can purchase these through Carnival on line.

That being said, I also think the casino is a good way to go, but remember, you still have to pay off that money the casino put onto your sign & sail card and you withdrew for the cash.

    Hope this helps.

  4. I am looking at booking next summer and really would like to go on the Conquest. We also wanted to book the Spa floor but all the rooms there are for 4 people. Will they book 3 in a room instead?

I actually just tried doing that same thing yesterday, but I was told no. Carnival rep told me that the occupancy for the room was 4 so he couldn't put only 3 in it. Good Luck.

  5. Mid October , 2 people and flying into Boston Logan, unless it would be better to fly into Providence or Worcester?

You would have a more difficult time getting into Boston from Rhode Island or Worcester, unless you rented a car. They would both be about an hour's drive on a good day with no traffic (right, like that ever happens). There is also a Holiday Inn in Somerville and a LaQuinta in Somerville. A little closer to Boston and still an easy commute by the T.

  6. No,I haven't looked into any other areas as I have never been to Boston or the area. I will check out Braintree and Quincy since you said it is easy to get back to the airport and take the T into Boston. Are those areas a safe part of town?

I wouldn't hesitate at all staying either place. Very safe, and like I said, an easy commute on the T.

  7. BTW: As this is your first Viking cruise, we can give you a referral which will save you $100 per person when you finally book. The info from my DH can be found in post #3 on the thread Looking for a Viking Referral. Or you can post your email address here and we will send it to you.

Thank you, I'll keep that in mind.

  8. Hi, we're trying to book our first Viking cruise and have questions regarding airfare and travel insurance.

Can anyone advise us as to whether we should book the airfare through Viking when we book the cruise? Or, through the airline itself when we get closer to the cruise date? The same question about travel insurance. Now or later, and through whom? We're looking at 2016 so have time to play with.

Thanks for any words of wisdom.
