  1. Tip: You can also order the zero proof cocktails and ask for a shot of rum, vodka, etc.  This way you can enjoy a higher priced drink while staying within the easy package.  Every time I ordered this way, the bartender just mixed the alcohol in for me.

  2. I'm sailing on MSC Armonia for the first time later this month and wondering if gelato is still free and will I still be able to order zero-proof cocktails and a shot of alcohol to mix in... or has that changed with the very recent drink packages news?

Also, how good is the Cuban entertainment onboard during the overnight in Havana? I've been researching Tropicana, Buena Vista Social Club and Cabaret Parisien and the reviews are so-so (overpriced, crowded, smoke-filled, etc). TIA

  3. Tracie, thanks for posting this wonderful blog! I'm headed on the Spirit this November on the same itinerary you did in January and was wondering if you recall how long the ride was from Casablanca to Marakkech? I had read there was a new highway so does it still take 4 hours?

We typically do private tours too but considering the distance and potential weather issues, we're doing this one with NCL. We're also traveling with 4 small children so we definitely don't want to chance it. Thanks.

  4. We will be sailing end of November on NCL Spirit to Canary Islands, Spain and Morocco. Any chance we'd be able to use the pools on sea days near the Canaries/Morocco this time of year? We've done late October cruises around Egypt/Croatia/Greece and had some very warm days but curious what the weather will be like near Canaries end of November.

  5. Thanks again. We are sailing with Cunard and in order to leave the children on board while we are in port, they have to be 5 years old which they are much younger so they will be coming along with us. We take them everywhere anyway and have carriers for them for when we go hiking and have used them on excursions last year in Alaska and had no issue. Sometimes they even fall asleep in the carrier. We will leave the stoller on board the ship. Can't wait to see Dubrovnik and hope the weather is favorable for us that day.

Do you know if there is a charge for the children for the museums/monasteries and cable car?

  6. Hi DubrovnikTravelLady, your feedback is very much appreciated! I've been taking notes :)

I will be in port in late October from 8am-6pm with 3 other adults and 2 small kids (2 and 3.5 yrs old) and plan to walk the wall, visit the museums you mentioned, take the cable car and sample local food, especially seafood, civapcici and dirty macaroni.

Do you have any additional suggestions for things to do that might interest the kids?

  7. We sailed the NCL Pearl late August 2010 with a 2 yr old and 9 month old and had a great time. We booked a balcony room so DH and I could sit outside when the kids napped and went to sleep for the night. The staff spent a lot of time catering to the kids, I suspect since many of them miss their own young children. After a few days, the staff in the buffet and room stewards knew our kid's names and greeted them daily with huge smiles. My older one did the kids club one day and enjoyed it. We really liked freestyle dining as it worked well with the various port times and nap times. I agree with another poster, Glacier Bay is magnificent and not to be missed. I highly recommend NCL for Alaska.
