  1. To add- you'd be surprised how much of a signal you can get.  I'm just on the last day of a Med cruise right now with a European phone, and have been able to get data/4g through European carriers for a surprisingly long time after we've sailed away from each port- so it wouldn't surprise me if you're able to get a decent signal for quite a bit of the time you're at sea.

  2. We ate at Jamie's twice a couple of weeks ago- absolutely delicious. Go hungry, it's a lot of food! Esp if the waiter recommends the dessert platter. "It's a little bit of each one" they said. Hah. More like a full size serving of each dessert, it was enormous.

I can especially recommend the lamb, and the truffle tagliatelle. Enjoy!

  3. I was just on HOTS last week- I can happily confirm that the menus outside the dining room confirming the Fishermans' Platter turned out to be the correct ones, and not the ones on the room TVs that showed no lobster. I was glad we checked those, as we'd looked in the room and made a specialty restaurant reservation for that night instead- nearly missed the free lobster!

Columbus was the only show we were disappointed in, esp seeing it at the end of the cruise after seeing so many other great shows. It's really really really ridiculously cheesy- imagine a pop music medley, singing sharks, women dressed as cheeseburgers, bad RCCL jokes, that kind of thing. It's not even so bad it's good- it's just dire.

  4. Hi- we've booked the RCCL excursion Navigate Through Rome, a transport only (with gps device) excursion that drops you off in St Peter's Square, and says you have free time to do whatever, and then that you need to navigate to "your designated pickup spot."

Has anyone taken this excursion, do you know what the pickup spot is? I know it could always change of course, but I'm putting together a rough itinerary and it would help to know what part of the city we should aim to end up in in theory.

    Thanks very much!

  6. Hi- I'm on the Harmony in Oct, and am considering whether I want to make a deposit on a new cruise while I'm onboard. Next year, my partner and I will be in a position to book something at short notice, so we're hoping to take advantage of some of the great last minute deals to be found.

Is there anything I need to take into consideration to use a NextCruise booking on a last minute? I assume I'd make the booking as usual for a random cruise, choose whether I want to use the OBC on the Harmony cruise or place it on my future cruise, and then move it when I want to make the last minute booking and settle the full balance? Is there anything else I need to consider? I assume if I want to move this to a travel agent, I need to move within 60 days of booking, then move again when I'm ready to actually book my cruise, is that right?

    Thanks for the help!

  7. You can link with anyone who has the same residence address and you declare as your significant other.

Each linked person's points will accrue based only on the take cruises. However, the website will show the highest number of points (and C&A level) of the pair. For example, if person A has 175 points, and person B has 80 points, each person will show 175 points and D+ on their C&A account. If these people unlink, person A will show 175 points, and person B will show 80 points, but will still be D+ because Royal does not demote people when the unlink.

    Great news, thanks very much!!

  8. Hi all,

Regarding linking accounts- is it only for married partners or do partners living together also count? My boyfriend is moving in with me shortly (I'm Platinum, he's just signed up after our first cruise together), and I'm not sure if he'll move up to my status or not.

If we do match statuses, how does it work for accruing status after that? Will he end up with as many points as I have so we both level up at the same rate, or will his points stay where they were, but with a higher status attached?

    Thanks!

  9. Hi- hoping someone can help. Our ship is docking at pier 25 at Civitavecchia, which, with the new setup, means taking the bus to Largo della Pace and the shuttle from there. I saw on the website today that there's apparently no shuttle service between Civitavecchia station and Largo della Pace between 11:50 am and 2:20pm?

Has anyone had any recent experience with this- is this true or not? If so, how did you get to the shuttle pickup area?

    Thanks for the help!

  10. Hi,

We're eagerly prepping for our Eastern Med cruise on Rhapsody in September- though who knows what Greece's situation will be by then. :D

To that end, does anyone have any Cruise Compasses from Rhapsody, now that she's started her Eastern Med route? I saw some that were posted on the Bit of a Blog, which were great for general ship info, but I'm hoping to see the Compasses for the specific ports we're visiting.

    Thanks very much!!

  11. Hi all,

Lurker here- thanks in advance for the help. I'm on Rhapsody Sept 6th for the Eastern Med cruise, and am considering DIYing it in several ports. My question is, how long after docking/anchoring do they generally let you off the ship if you're not on the ship's shore excursion?

I see a lot of promo material for the excursions saying 'first off the ship' and such, but that doesn't seem to square with people's reports. So, does anyone know generally when RC starts letting non-ship excursion guests off in port?

    Thanks very much!
