  1. No contest, The Riverside.

Anyone who picks the Embassy has never been on Las Olas.

The difference between being in a gorgeous, historic hotel on a tree lined boulevard and staying at a corporate hotel on an industrial street.

I'm just curious about your blog. When I click on the link it opens up your blog but the most recent entry is 2013. Is that correct?

  2. We have stayed at the Marriott Courtyard Fort Lauderdale Airport & Cruise Port before and will again in October. Complimentary Airport and Cruise Port Shuttle service. Very clean hotel with competitive rates. Located at 400 Gulf Stream Way.

  3. In the afternoon last week the Salerno Port was a nightmare. Our tour guide, (we were doing the Leisurely Amalfi Tour) told us the port officials refused to open a gate closer to the ship as opposed to making us sit in very heavy traffic of car carriers.

She said it was not Celebrity's fault, or the tour operator, but the port officials. My take on it was that somebody didn't get the $$$ they were looking for and decided to play the heavy.

There were three tour buses and I'm told the third bus turned around and returned to the ship.

  4. Deck: Sunrise; Deck 7

    Cabin #: 7200

    Class: 2B

    Side: Starboard

    Bed was close to bathroom

Quiet: Very much so. The cabin is about ten feet from the forward elevators and we never once heard them.

Balcony View: Tremendous. No obstructions and we got several great photos from the balcony.

    Wind: Not a problem

We loved this cabin and if we were to sail on a Solstice class ship again we would probably request the same one.

The only comment I would have is the lack of an electrical outlet near the bed. I brought my CPAP machine and was unable to use it as there was no plug nearby.

  5. I sailed on the MV Atlantic in May 1984, New York to Bermuda. My first cruise with a friend of mine. We thought it was great, had a ball. Now 26 years later my wife and I are preparing to go on the Celebrity Solstice Eastern Caribbean!

I was only 24 and the MV Atlantic was my first cruise experience so I nothing to compare it to. Several years later my wife and I took a 3 night cruise on the Carnivale! I couldn't believe how old that ship was compared to the Atlantic.
