  1. Hi!

We have done this trip 6 times and have never found ourselves with "nothing to do".

There are so many Hawaiian themed activities and other cruise ship games and trivia that we were always at a loss for which one to choose.

We are in our 40's and found the passengers to be a mix of mature folks and also couples in their 30-40's but not that many children.

I would expect you all will find something to keep you occupied as the 8 sea days have never seemed like enough for us to fit in all we wanted to do. We even wished for more since it would have been nice to take a day and just sit in one spot but we never wanted to miss anything ;)

    You will have a blast!!!

  2. Hello,

just an update--we are finally home and it was a great cruise but my mom came down with Noro last night and it was REALLY bad for her and us!

Since we are all in the same cabin we thought they would quarantine us but they said as long as she stayed in her room (which she had NO problem doing since the symptoms took everything out of her and she slept all day after the nurse saw her) we could be free to do what we wanted since the ship was already serving all the food already and we would not have self-service anywhere.

That visit and the pills cost $122 which I will seek reimbursement for from our insurance.

A really crappy way to end a cruise and we are hoping the rest of us stay healthy and mom is now on the mend.

Thanks for all the good wishes--hopefully the next cruise will not have the same one two punch we had and will enjoy ALL 15 days!

  3. Posting live from the Star Princess where we are having a blast!

Unfortunately the dreaded stomach bug has struck AGAIN on this cruise thanks to the ignorant people who love to not wash their hands (yes I have seen them personally).

We started the cruise after a thorough cleaning along with serving in the buffet, no salt/pepper on the tables--you know the drill.

The crew worked their butts off trying to contain this thing and 5 days into the cruise we finally went yellow which was a step down from red and then 2 days later we got green lighted for normal activity.

Yesterday we went to code RED again thanks to .73 % of passengers reporting a stomach flu like illness (more than likely norovirus).

The captain is amazing and keeps us posted every day with reports on what is happening and the poor crew is working extra hours every day sanitizing the ship.

Hopefully they get this bug under control.....but we are being careful, washing our hands frequently and having FUN!

  4. Loreni--I can answer that question since we were on this same cruise this past April.

The pier hanger is not open anymore to the public and there was no one selling anything when we were there. You walk along the outside of that building when you disembark the ship.

We found that quite disappointing since it was kind of nice to be able to browse the shops while we waited to get back onboard.

Hopefully they will reopen something in the future but it did not look like they were working on anything at the time.

    :)

Can you say fifth time on Princess RT to Hawaii coming up?

Please Princess listen--give us west coasters something else to do--14 day RT ALASKA of out Los Angeles!!!
