  1. For anyone who's sailed Aurea, any feedback on the Aurea bar in the deck 19 lounge area? I've seen a couple pictures of the space that looks absolutely gorgeous, but I think those may be artist renderings, not actual photos. I'm curious about the menu and what the space is like when it's in use.

Loved Deck 19! Towel service is available so you do not need to bring towels from your room. Nice seating in the bar area There are hot tubs & quiet area. Bar service was very good. It was not busy, never had a problem getting a lounge chair (weather wasn't the greatest - cool & windy)

  2. We had our cruise from Jan 13-20 on MSC we were on the 14th floor 14159. That sewage smell was horrible on all the floors. Some rooms didn't have the smell but the hallways did and our room did. They were supposed to give us an air freshener and never did. I will not go on MSC again and I will never recommend them to anyone. Member services didn't care when we mentioned the smell and people smoking next to us on the balcony. Unexceptionable!

We were on that sailing. Not disputing you encountered a smell, and I would not be happy if my room smelled. However we were on deck 13 - exact same sailing, & did not encounter odour ever. Did smell occasionally ie walking past water park one day. Again, I would not be happy either if my room smelled but to say all floors smelled is simply an over exaggeration & not true.

  3. Is Bella the only people who get put in the converted buffet? If so, I think it answers the question of whether it's the same dining experience as the MDR. I tend to believe it's not. If it was, there would be Aurea guests in there also. I don't know if this is the case so I don't wanted to ask to verify. This is new to me. I know someone earlier claimed this is a common practice to convert a Buffet area into a dining room, but I have never heard of this on any ship. Is this just common to MSC? It seems like a bad design.

Has anyone who actually experienced dining in the converted buffet area commented on there experience? We sailed, Aurea clas - in part because it allows the anytime dining vs set seating. We did pass through the buffet area one night - low lighting, table cloths, it was lovely. Ironically, I would have easily eaten there, no where near as noisy. Same menu, yes, even for Aurea class. I think people are getting hung up on "buffet", it actually resembles a restaurant at night. I certainly wouldn't feel like a second or third class citizen in that venue.

  4. Can someone tell me what specialty coffees are included and if the Classic package also includes gelato?

Gelato is included & delicious. Most coffees, espresso, cappuccino, hot chocolate & milkshakes etc at Venchi bar were included. Some of the specialized coffees with alcohol were not included.

  5. Hey all, I am very close to traveling on the MSC Seaside, and I don't have a good feeling about my sailing 90% of the reviews have been negative and when I went on the MCS website , they have blocked all of there reviews. It is to close to cancel my trip, can anyone out there tell me that the ship is better then the reviews?

We are avid cruisers (Carnival, NCL, Celebrity, Oceania) who just came off Seaside yesterday & really recommend going in with an open mind & try not to let others negative experiences bias you before you step on board. This was our first MSC cruise. We were aurea class with anytime dining (party of 4 - 2 couples). We were promptly offered water each night & typically had a bottle of flat & bottle of sparkling. We had a combination of wine & mixed drinks. The system for bar service (mixed drinks) is different & could use improvement but not a deal breaker. Our waiter quickly got used to our request for coffee & baileys with our dessert & would ask for our card at beginning of meal & put order in for us. Once baileys came with ice, again not a deal breaker, we scooped out ice & poured into our coffee. Our waiter was personal & wanted to please & you can see how hard they all work. Overall, the space is too small for # people & tables are close together. This is a new ship, feedback is often requested & they recognize there are some glitches to work out.

I did not encounter any rude or standoffish staff, however, saw lots of rude & demanding passengers.

Our room steward was excellent. Ice everyday, without asking & without extra tip up front.

Miami beach pool area at aft - disappointingly for us was the smoking area & yes smoke does waft into interior where library is. There are other pool areas.

Shows - fantastic, talented group. Shows are short - approx 30 min. Typically arrived 10 min before & had no issue with seats (aisle which is our preference). No bad seats. Theatre would fill by showtime.

Sometimes our drink orders were wrong, we were on vacation, we simply asked them to remake, which they respectfully did. The odd time wait seemed too long (maybe 2-3 x during 7 day cruise - only reason this bothered me was I was trying to get to show). When I asked what was taking so long, they explained they had run out of wine ordered & had to go get more. Drink selection for classic drink package much better than offerings on other lines like NCL (I primarily drink wine)

Food was okay, not the best I've had on a cruise, not the worst. Butchers Cut steakhouse was excellent. Pizza is wonderful.

Spa services - massages top notch. Thermal spa, enjoyable, some glitches to be worked out. While there are baskets for people to put used towels in, often people left on floor or on chair & moved on to next experience/room. While I don't understand this mentality, this is an area where MSC will need to add more staff to pick up after others.

There were things I really loved & things I wasn't so keen on, however, based on what we paid, we put in perspective & enjoyed our vacation. I hope if you go you are able to as well.
